  1. 🙂 God’s grace and help to make fifty years of marriage.

😉 And they thought it wouldn’t last.

🙂 The Supreme Court decision for life in the womb.

😦 The response of so many. We have much work to do to change minds and hearts. May more come to the Lord and gain new hearts–especially those in Christian churches who do not know God’s heart and sovereignty yet. Help us to love sacrificially and with patience.

😦 Funeral today for my husband’s cousin. The brother of the deceased will also be there, I am sure. He just lost his wife totally unexpectedly a couple of weeks earlier from when his brother died. Death is so sad for us. Both were believers, however, so very happy for them!

  3. 🙂 Until recently, and with just a couple exceptions, our days have been on the cooler side – relative to it being summer, that is – in the low-to-mid 70s, and sometimes in the upper 70s, but with lower-than-usual humidity. I think this is pretty normal for our Junes, at least for most of the month.

😦 But today and tomorrow are going to be in the high 80s, with high humidity.

🙂 So far today, having the new kitchen window AC on is also keeping my living room (where I spend much of my time) cool. If it heats up in here too much later and/or gets that stuffy feeling, which happened on the couple of hotter days we did have, I will turn on the new tower fan that I recently bought, which is on an end-table right inside the living room door, so it will draw in that cooler air. Hoping that will be enough to keep this room comfortable. We’ll see!

  4. 🙂 Praising with you, AJ.

    🙂 Happy anniversary to Kathaleena.

😦 Kizzie, same here — it’s now in the lower 80s (up from our previous cool 70s) and, even though our humidity isn’t high — around 30% — it “feels” unusually sultry in the house by noon. The cool breeze kicks up still, but not until mid-to-later afternoons when I can open the big windows.

🙂 Off to a birthday gathering tonight for an old friend and a former roommate.

😦 🙂 I’m starting all the prep work needed for upcoming knee surgery in August — medical leave pay forms to fill out, pre-op appointments too make.

  5. The humidity does make quite a difference. We’ve had more than the usual number of 90-degree days in May and June, and the most recent one surprised me by how much cooler it felt than the other ones. I thought I must be getting acclimated to hot weather.

Then I found out that the actual temperature and the feels-like temp were both 90° because of lower humidity. That’s a lot different than 95° with a feels-like temp of 104!

Kathaleena, belated congratulations on your 50th anniversary! A very blessed milestone.

🙂 Thankful that my husband’s surprise meeting with a black bear this week turned out fine. Except hubby was displeased with himself for not snapping a picture of it before he scared it away. The bear was about 20 yards away at first sighting. I’m rather glad hubby’s instinct to make noise to scare it away kicked in immediately!

We’ve heard of bears around these parts, but this is the first time any of our family has seen one. (It was on the farmland of our elderly “next-door” neighbors, so not super close to our property.)

  6. I spent several hours is a parked car today, waiting for two children to finish their work. They have about two and a half hours of work at a local company, doing janitorial work. This weekend, it took them nearly nine hours. We checked their work. Sinks were dirty, floors were dirty, coffee machines were dirty, break areas were dirty. But I did find that son has been taking half empty pop bottles out of the trash and drinking the left over. We discussed that.
