Psalm 113

Praise the Lord.

   Praise the Lord, you his servants;
    praise the name of the Lord.
Let the name of the Lord be praised,
    both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
    the name of the Lord is to be praised.

The Lord is exalted over all the nations,
    his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God,
    the One who sits enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
    on the heavens and the earth?

He raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes,
    with the princes of his people.
He settles the childless woman in her home
    as a happy mother of children.

   Praise the Lord.

Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks 2018 Week 14

It’s the last week of the regular season. All of these games are conference championships, and several will decide which teams play in the four team “playoff”. The SEC winner is a shoe in. And perhaps so is Notre Dame, which finished the season 12-0 and is an independent. Personally, I think the play-off is good idea, but not really complete since other undefeated teams in non-power conferences (i.e. CFU) don’t get a chance to prove themselves. I say, if Central Florida wins, make them the #4 seed to play the #1 seed in the first round, meaning they would probably play Alabama.

At any rate, here are your final selections. I’ve included some non-championship games in order to round it out to 10 games. Make your selection by Friday, 7:00 PM EST, since that is when the first game happens.

  1. PAC-12: #17 Utah (9-3, 6-2) vs #11 Washington (9-3, 7-2)

  2. Big 12: #14 Texas (9-3, 7-2) vs #5 Oklahoma (11-1, 8-1) (a rematch of the Red River Rivalry)

  3. American: Memphis (8-4, 5-3) vs #8 Central Florida (11-0, 8-0)

  4. SEC: #1 Alabama (12-0, 8-0) vs #4 Georgia (11-1, 7-1)

  5. Mountain West: #25 Fresno St. vs #22 Boise St. (both teams 10-2, 7-1)

  6. ACC: #2 Clemson (12-0, 8-0) vs Pitt (7-5, 6-2)

  7. B1G (formerly known as the Big 10): #21 Northwestern (8-4, 8-1) vs #6 Ohio St. (11-1, 8-1)

  8. MAC: Northern Illinois (7-5, 6-2) vs Buffalo (10-2, 7-1)

  9. C-USA: Alabama-Birmingham (9-3, 7-1) vs Middle Tennessee (8-4, 7-1)

10. Tie breaker: Pick winner and final score: Sun Belt: Louisiana [NOT LSU] (7-5, 5-3) vs Appalachian St (9-2, 7-1)

Psalm 112

Praise the Lord.

   Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
    who find great delight in his commands.

Their children will be mighty in the land;
    the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in their houses,
    and their righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
    for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
    who conduct their affairs with justice.

Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
    they will be remembered forever.
They will have no fear of bad news;
    their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
    in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor,
    their righteousness endures forever;
    their horn will be lifted high in honor.

10 The wicked will see and be vexed,
    they will gnash their teeth and waste away;
    the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.

Prayer Requests 11-28-18

Psalm 111

Praise the Lord.

   I will extol the Lord with all my heart
    in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

Great are the works of the Lord;
    they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him;
    he remembers his covenant forever.

He has shown his people the power of his works,
    giving them the lands of other nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
    all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are established for ever and ever,
    enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
He provided redemption for his people;
    he ordained his covenant forever—
    holy and awesome is his name.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
    To him belongs eternal praise.
