Prayer Requests 8-31-22

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia.

Psalm 43

Vindicate me, my God,
    and plead my cause
    against an unfaithful nation.
   Rescue me from those who are
    deceitful and wicked.
You are God my stronghold.
    Why have you rejected me?
   Why must I go about mourning,
    oppressed by the enemy?
Send me your light and your faithful care,
    let them lead me;
   let them bring me to your holy mountain,
    to the place where you dwell.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
    to God, my joy and my delight.
   I will praise you with the lyre,
    O God, my God.

Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
   Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

Prayer Requests 8-30-22

Also Kevin and his family as they continue to recover from Covid.

Psalm 42

A maskil of the Sons of Korah.

As the deer pants for streams of water,
    so my soul pants for you, my God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
    When can I go and meet with God?
My tears have been my food
    day and night,
   while people say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”
These things I remember
    as I pour out my soul:
   how I used to go to the house of God
    under the protection of the Mighty One
   with shouts of joy and praise
    among the festive throng.

Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
   Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

My soul is downcast within me;
    therefore I will remember you
   from the land of the Jordan,
    the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep
    in the roar of your waterfalls;
   all your waves and breakers
    have swept over me.

By day the Lord directs his love,
    at night his song is with me—
    a prayer to the God of my life.

I say to God my Rock,
    “Why have you forgotten me?
   Why must I go about mourning,
    oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
    as my foes taunt me,
   saying to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”

11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
   Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

The Blog’s 10 Year Anniversary

It was 10 years ago we began this little adventure. We’ve shared our ups and downs, joys and sadness, prayers and praises. It’s been a fun ride and I’m thankful you’ve all come along for it.

We’ve seen some members leave us and pass on to be with the Lord. The loss for us was hard, but their reward through faith in Christ and the salvation He offers was great gain for them. That knowledge made their loss easier to handle. We have been greatly blessed having known them.

You all have spent time in prayer for, loving on, grieving for, praying for, glorifying our Lord and sharing what’s He’s done for you, and lifting up one another. You’ve demonstrated what fellowship means, and I’m thankful for you all.

So this morning, I’ve put together some pics from all of you. We’ve all shared our “views” at one time or another, so here’s a small glimpse.

Our Daily Thread 8-29-22

Today is NancyJill and Paul’s anniversary. 🙂

Yesterday I received an email from Linda Shull. On Friday and Saturday the family held a burial service and family gathering for Chas and Elvera. She sent a couple of pics. One is in the header, here is the other.

Psalm 41

A psalm of David.

Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
    the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.
The Lord protects and preserves them—
    they are counted among the blessed in the land—
    he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
The Lord sustains them on their sickbed
    and restores them from their bed of illness.

I said, “Have mercy on me, Lord;
    heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
My enemies say of me in malice,
    “When will he die and his name perish?”
When one of them comes to see me,
    he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;
    then he goes out and spreads it around.

All my enemies whisper together against me;
    they imagine the worst for me, saying,
“A vile disease has afflicted him;
    he will never get up from the place where he lies.”
Even my close friend,
    someone I trusted,
   one who shared my bread,
    has turned against me.

10 But may you have mercy on me, Lord;
    raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 I know that you are pleased with me,
    for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 Because of my integrity you uphold me
    and set me in your presence forever.

13 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting.
   Amen and Amen.
