“Senate Democrats introduced a bill on Wednesday that would repeal a 50-year-old amendment to expand abortion access globally with U.S foreign aid.
Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) presented the Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act which marks the first-ever legislation to repeal the Helms Amendment enacted in 1973.
Congress added the amendment to the 1961 Foreign Assistance Act, which blocks federal funding as U.S. foreign assistance to fund abortions as a method of family planning — even in circumstances of rape, incest, or saving the mother’s life.
Booker said that in the wake of the Supreme Court’s historic overruling of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health last month, the decision has denied Americans access to “essential health care services” that will extend beyond U.S. borders.
“This disastrous decision will be felt around the world, setting back many countries who have long used Roe v. Wade as the basis to strengthen abortion rights protections in their own countries,” Booker said. “We must take immediate action to mitigate the global impact of this decision.
Booker said the legislation that gained co-sponsorship from 21 other senators would ensure federal funding would give women “safe” abortion access overseas.”

We live in an Orwellian hell-scape. Facebook is now "fact checking" anyone who questions the White House's word-games about the definition of a recession. pic.twitter.com/pHGPWrxRpD
recession
“A period during which economic activity, as measured by gross domestic product, declines for at least two quarters in a row in a specific country. If the decline is severe and long, such as greater than ten percent, it may be termed a depression.”
BREAKING: GDP fell 0.9% in the second quarter, the second straight decline and a strong recession signal https://t.co/bQT3XG1JMB
Second quarter GDP comes in at negative 0.9% – well under expectations of positive growth.
That's two straight quarters of contraction which has been a recession the last ten times it happened and typically the way recessions have been perceived.
— The Wokest Numbersmuncher (@NumbersMuncher) July 28, 2022
But they just keep carrying water for this lying administration.
We're about to see just how much the media is over Biden. If they go along with the Biden Administration's redefinition of what a recession is after four decades of holding it as 2 quarters of negative growth, the press is dead, and only the propagandists remain.
The institution we rely upon to at least try to play it straight have given up. They used to at least pretend not to be wholly owned subsidiaries of the Democrat party. They don’t care if you know it now. https://t.co/ZRqW1EOIiM

“A 104-page report issued three months after the events at the Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021, said the Capitol Police’s Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU) was ordered by supervisors not to use “heavier, less-lethal weapons,” like flash bangs. However, video evidence—along with Capitol Police Use of Force Reports obtained exclusively by The Epoch Times—exposes conflicts in timelines, the brutality of the unprovoked attacks against Jan. 6 protesters, and how leadership ordered the deployment of munitions on a peaceful crowd.”
“A group of health care workers who sued their hospital over a COVID-19 vaccine mandate are slated to receive $10 million, according to a settlement agreement filed on July 29.
About a dozen workers at the NorthShore University HealthSystem in Illinois lodged the suit in October 2021, arguing that the facility was illegally not granting religious exemptions to the mandate.
After eight months of negotiations, the workers and NorthShore “have agreed to settle this case,” according to a memorandum filed in federal court.
Under the settlement’s terms, NorthShore will pay $10,337,500 into a settlement fund for workers affected by its mandate—specifically, workers who between July 1, 2021, and Jan. 1, 2022, asked for a religious accommodation and were denied and either received a vaccine to avoid termination or were fired or resigned. About 473 workers fit under that category.
NorthShore will also adjust its vaccine mandate “to enhance its accommodation procedures for individuals with approved exemptions for sincerely held religious belief.”
Workers fired because they refused to get vaccinated due to their religious beliefs are eligible to apply for re-employment.”
Comparing DC’s ability to handle migrants to Texas is comparing apples to oranges. For one, Texas is far greater in size. More importantly it has the infrastructure in place to process migrants – DC, of course, would not. DC’s weird political status also means it has limited means to respond to migrants — without the same jurisdictions and finiancial meanas a normal state, it would have to appeal to the federal gov’t far quicker than a state. I’m curious if Texas and Abbott have the constitutional right to transport migrants — isn’t that federal jurisdiction. DC should sue Texas.
On abortion: I’m sure the Democrats have done their polling and have found that mentioning the Supreme Court decision in any and all contexts will help them in the mid-terms. Polling suggests most Americans disagree with the Court and most think some states have gone too far. Already I’ve had a few news stories about women refused a D and C after a miscarriage — something that can be medically necessary. The Democrats see this as a political winner.
Amused how happy Republicans are to hear the word recession. At – 0.9% growth, its pretty much dead even. Sure its a recession but indications are its going to be very short. Expect positive economic news in late October – just in time. Inflation is at 9% not 10. And the wholesale price of gasoline isn’t much different than 5-10 years ago – the retail price is corporate price gouging.
AJ – you’ve posted about the decline of armed forces recruitment. Many of these commentators want to blame “cultural” factors. These cultural factors are par for the course in any major corporations – HR will mandate it for new hirees, and the armed forces is no different. Its not really a factor. One link mentioned the Old South where military enlistment was a tradition was also socially conservative and therefore these HR mandates would scare them away. However, these areas also have a higher rate of obesity, making it harder for them to serve. As an aside, both the US and UK gov’ts discovered their elisted men in WWI and WWII had health problems and low literacy rates — the general staffs pushed the politicians to create a welfare state so they had a better quality recruit – maybe they need to push for a better welfare state again.
Btw, the Russians have the same problem, despite having no gender identity program. They’ve moved to an all-volunteer army but the wealthier urban areas won’t join so they are giving enlistment bonuses to soliders from the poorer regions, including Siberia. I have a 19 yr old Russian staying with me til he finds a permanent home…..his parents gave him money to leave Russia to avoid the army and he’s not the only one. His parents had enough money to send him to Canada but there are thousands in Turkey, Georgia, Armenia etc. Urban young people have no desire to join the military.
Residents in large ubran areas have more in common with residents in other large urban areas in other countries than their nation’s rural areas. Why would they join the armed forces which threatens other urban areas? With increased urbanization, you will have less recruits, no matter what silly HR program on gender identity.
Further proof that Biden lies.

Anyone surprised by their behavior on Jan 6th?
