  1. :) Hot water out of the faucet.

:( We are without that until Monday. Those who pulled the breakers for what they were doing with the hot water heater, didn’t bother to read the stickers. We have to call the power company to reset the power. This is because we have off-peak. Now, no one will come until Monday for sure.

:) I was without water for weeks with two little ones, so I guess we will survive. And I will appreciate anew the convenience of hot water from the tap.

  2. I remember no modern plumbing in my grandfather’s Iowa house when I was small. An outhouse (ugh — I can still remember the smell), baths in a big metal tub of water outside in the summer.

😦 Small tear in the meniscus of other knee has hampered the dog walk schedule until I can get in to see the orthopedic doctor again (May 7)

🙂 Got back on the stationary bike this morning

🙂 Sunshine forecast for the next week, with moderate temps (high 60s, low 70s)

😦 Abby’s “no-car” fetish, I’m reaching out to the former trainer again but also will seek out a new church member who is also a certified dog trainer to see if she has any new ideas. There seems to be no magic solution to this. I’d just lift her in if I could but she’s too big and heavy for me. Cousin was probably right when she said I should have gone with a smaller dog.

😦 I’ve never had a dog not (enthusiastically!) get into a car.

  3. DJ – Even with these difficulties, I believe that Abby was meant for you, and you were meant for Abby.

Hubby, who bought Heidi from friends of Nightingale’s who had bred their two dogs, actually wanted the male in the litter. But when Hubby arrived, not only was the male dog already taken, Heidi was the last puppy left. I am grateful for that, and when I think of the possibility of her being taken earlier by someone else, it makes me sad.

Rationally, I know that someone else could have given her a good life, too – probably better than I have – but it could have gone the other way, too, with her going to someone not so nice. But I also just have the feeling that she was meant for me. ❤

  5. 🙂 Thank you, Kizzie, that makes me feel better.

😦 Still no taxes, so I sent the guy another email (last I heard was on April 15 when he said he’d filed an extension and should finish my taxes by the end of that week). I still also think he should provide some explanation at this point, even if it’s generic. I’m sure there is a reason, but his not saying what’s going on to cause this really unusual delay makes me nervous.

  6. Tax guy says my taxes are done (yay!), he just needs to review them on Monday and he needed also to double check my bank account (making sure it is the same from last year for the direct deposit instruction). I’m getting refunds from both state and federal, but they’re modest. At least it’s enough to cover his bill :-( and will leave me with a couple hundred over that.
