  1. The media clowns are at it again. Once again hoping for the deaths of Trump supporters.

“Media Hate Narrative: Trump Killing His Own Elderly Voters Could Swing Election

“tens of thousands of deaths projected from the virus, demographic shifts alone could be enough to swing crucial states to Joe Biden in the fall”

“If you’ve spent any time on Twitter during the Coronavirus crisis, you may have noticed that some people on the left seem to enjoy fantasizing about the deaths of Trump supporters and how it could impact the election.

This comes from the same people who like to say Trump lacks empathy.

Now this narrative is even making its way into mainstream news outlets.

    Christopher Cadelago writes at Politico:

Study: Elderly Trump voters dying of coronavirus could cost him in November

Mass casualties from the coronavirus could upend the political landscape in battleground states and shift contests away from President Donald Trump, according to a new analysis.

Academic researchers writing in a little-noticed public administration journal — Administrative Theory & Praxis — conclude that when considering nothing other than the tens of thousands of deaths projected from the virus, demographic shifts alone could be enough to swing crucial states to Joe Biden in the fall.

“The pandemic is going to take a greater toll on the conservative electorate leading into this election — and that’s simply just a calculation of age,” Andrew Johnson, the lead author and a professor of management at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, said in an interview. “The virus is killing more older voters, and in many states that’s the key to a GOP victory.”

Johnson and his colleagues Wendi Pollock and Beth M. Rauhaus projected that even with shelter-in-place orders remaining in effect, about 11,000 more Republicans than Democrats who are 65 and older could die before the election in both Michigan and North Carolina.

Note that all the people tweeting this story below are verified blue check Twitter accounts and almost all of them work in media. This is called concern trolling:”

    Disgusting is what they are.

  2. Right again. The media? Still wrong.

“Looks Like Trump Was Right About The Coronavirus Fatality Rate

Two new studies suggest that President Trump was right in early March when he guessed the fatality rate for coronavirus is under 1 percent.”

“In early March, President Donald Trump was lambasted for saying on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show that he had a hunch the coronavirus fatality rate, which the World Health Organization pegged then at 3 to 4 percent, was in fact much lower, under 1 percent. Many commentators, myself included pointed out that the beginning of a pandemic medical crisis was not the time to be floating hunches. But, as we always knew was possible, it looks now like the president might well have been right.

New data from random antibody tests conducted in New York State suggest that as many as 2.7 million people statewide have had the coronavirus. That along with the just over 15,000 deaths that have occurred leads to a fatality rate for the virus of .5 percent according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Here is what Trump said on March 4:

“Well, I think the 3.4 percent is really a false number. Now, and this is just my hunch, and — but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this. Because a lot people will have this and it’s very mild. They’ll get better very rapidly. They don’t even see a doctor. They don’t even call a doctor.”

    He went on to say:

“I think that that number (the WHO number) is very high. I think the number, personally, I would say the number is way under 1 percent.”

Democrats and media pundits blasted Trump for spreading “misinformation.”

“While this data is preliminary, it is backed up by another study in Los Angeles that found 40 times more people had carried the virus then were previously known. This dropped the fatality rate in LA from 4.5 percent to .1-.3 percent.

It is difficult to stress how important these findings are. The 5-week lockdown that has destroyed the American economy was put in place by contemplating what looks to be rather absurd numbers by the WHO.”

“Oh My: Michigan Legislature Calls Special Session– To Strip Whitmer Of Emergency Powers”

“Couldn’t happen to a nicer petty martinet, nor at a better time. Winston Churchill once wrote that bad kings make for good law, and Michigan’s legislature might put that into action in a special session starting today. After Whitmer’s arbitrary and capricious COVID-19 shutdown order put the state’s unemployment at the highest in the nation, the legislature wants immediate oversight over Whitmer’s handling of the crisis. And they want to start reviewing bills to restrict the powers that she may have abused:

SEE ALSO: New evidence that Tara Reade told her mother about a serious problem in Biden’s office

In the midst of the continuing spread of the coronavirus in Michigan, the Michigan Legislature has scheduled a special session for Friday to create an oversight committee to examine how Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has responded to the crisis as well as consider bills that would strip the governor of some of her powers.

The extraordinary move, at a time when Whitmer is looking to extend her stay-at-home order past its May 1 expiration and encouraging all Michiganders to confine themselves to their homes as a way to stop the spread of the coronavirus, is a sign of an escalating rift with Republicans in the Legislature, who are eager to have her reopen the state’s economy. …

The Senate also will consider a pair of bills that would repeal the 1945 Emergency Powers of the Governor Act, which gives wide power to the governor to declare a state of emergency in times of “great public crisis.”

Another bill would amend the Emergency Management Act of 1976, which allows the governor to declare a state of emergency for up to 28 days, to reduce the number of allowable days to 14.

It’s worth noting that the legislature will end up putting these tasks on itself in the future if they pass these bills. That’s probably as it should be, but at least at the moment, Michigan’s laws make it pretty easy for the legislature to avoid hard votes and time pressures in real emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic. In such a situation, the legislature would need to immediately come into session to issue statutory restrictions, and they’d still have to negotiate those with the governor, who — regardless of it being Whitmer or not — would be able to argue that the legislature is tying his/her hands. Be careful what you wish for is another pretty good piece of advice, even if Winston Churchill never wrote it.”

“Source Says FBI Director Christopher Wray Pushed To Withhold Exculpatory Evidence In Mike Flynn Case”

“Federal Bureau of Investigations Director Christopher Wray fought to prevent exculpatory evidence from surfacing in the case of President Donald Trump’s former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, a source with direct knowledge of the situation tells Daily Caller.

New court documents were filed in Flynn’s case Friday containing the aforementioned exculpatory evidence, commonly referred to as Brady Material. Flynn’s attorney, Sidney Powell, announced the new filing on Twitter. She has repeatedly accused the FBI and Justice Department of hiding evidence in the case.”

““This afternoon, the government produced to Mr. Flynn stunning Brady evidence that proves Mr. Flynn’s allegations of having been deliberately set up and framed by corrupt agents at the top of the FBI,” Powell wrote in an additional filing. “The government has deliberately suppressed this evidence from the inception of this prosecution—knowing there was no crime by Mr. Flynn.”

“Since August 2016 at the latest, partisan FBI and DOJ leaders conspired to destroy Mr. Flynn,” she continued. “These documents show in their own handwriting and emails that they intended either to create an offense they could prosecute or at least get him fired.”

Powell claimed that more exculpatory evidence in the case will surface in the future.

An FBI official told The Federalist that FBI general counsel Dana Boente was behind the effort to block the release of the Brady Material, yet Daily Caller’s source explained Boente was acting in coordination with Wray.”

  11. Looks like some coroners are starting to call BS on what is and isn’t a Covid 19 death.

The states will continue to fudge the numbers as long as there is a financial incentive to do so.

“Pennsylvania has had to remove hundreds of coronavirus deaths from its official death count this week, following questions of accuracy and highlighted discrepancies by area coroners.

The PA health department decided to include “probable” coronavirus deaths, or an assumed COVID-19-related death without testing for the virus, to their death tolls, dating back days and even weeks ago. But the death toll spike raised questions from coroners who came forward to highlight a discrepancy in death totals, which were not adding up to the number of all-cause deaths.

The scrutiny triggered multiple revisions and statements from the department, including the removal of 200 “probable” COVID-19 deaths and a claim of computer “glitching.”

“Pennsylvania started to include ‘probable deaths’ in its fatalities. As a result, the total number of coronavirus deaths grew by 276, then 360, in successive nights, almost doubling the number of deaths in the state in two days,” a Fox News report explained. ” The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) subsequently removed 200 deaths from its count after facing mounting questions about the accuracy of the count.”

Health Secretary Rachel Levine, who decided to include “probable deaths” in the department’s total count, acknowledged to the Philadelphia Inquirer that such deaths may change over time.

“We realize that this category can be confusing, since it does change over time,” Levine told the outlet.

“At times, there are things we need to review, and potentially revisit the way the data is being analyzed,” she said. “And this is one of those times.””

  12. And yes, despite what some claim, there is a financial incentive to do so.

    “State And Local Governments”

“The legislation designates $339.8 billion for programs that will go to state and local governments. It is divided up to put $274 billion toward specific COVID-19 response efforts, including $150 billion in direct aid for those state and local governments running out of cash because of a high number of cases.”

    That’s a pretty big incentive.

    “Coronavirus Relief Fund

The largest pot of funding is a $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund included in the CARES Act for states, territories, tribal governments, and local governments with populations over 500,000, to draw down for virus-related costs this year. California is estimated to receive over $15 billion of this funding. Of the total state allocation, an estimated $5.8 billion to $6.9 billion will go directly to local governments, and the remaining $8.5 billion to $9.5 billion will be for the state government. Additionally, $8 billion is reserved for tribal governments nationwide. At the time of this publication, it is unclear whether states will be able to use these funds to fill revenue shortfalls or whether the funds will be more narrowly available only for health-related costs of the virus.

    Medi-Cal (Medicaid)

Another source of fiscal relief for the state is a temporary increase in the federal share of funding for Medi-Cal, the state’s health coverage program that serves around 13 million residents with low incomes. Medi-Cal is California’s version of Medicaid, which is jointly funded by the federal government and states. Currently, the federal government pays one-half of Medi-Cal costs for most beneficiaries and services, with the state picking up the other half. Under the Families First Act, the federal government’s share (the “Federal Medical Assistance Percentage,” or FMAP) will increase by 6.2 percentage points between January 1, 2020, and the end of the quarter in which there is no longer a declared COVID-19 public health emergency. The Legislative Analyst’s Office estimates that this increase, if in place through December 2020, could translate to between $1.5 billion and $2.5 billion in General Fund savings in 2019-20 and 2021-21 if there were no changes to existing Medi-Cal enrollment and costs. However, the crisis will likely cause Medi-Cal costs to rise as more beneficiaries require COVID-19 testing and treatment and as unemployment increases and more people enroll in the program. These cost increases could exceed the federal funding increase. Therefore, as federal policymakers consider a fourth coronavirus relief package, they should consider a larger increase in the federal Medicaid share, and ensure that it remains in place for as long as the economic fallout of the virus remains rather than ending when the public health emergency is declared over.”

  13. Sigh.

    More fake news….

“On Thursday, the president suggested that perhaps an “injection” of disinfectant could help cure people of COVID-19. Critics of Donald Trump went to town—and rightfully so!—while supporters scrambled to settle on a defense (both “he didn’t really say that” and “he did but it was sarcasm” have been in play). By Saturday morning, social media was abuzz with articles about people calling poison control centers, each crafted to illustrate how Americans had apparently taken Trump’s ramblings to heart and consumed household disinfectants like Lysol and bleach.

The problem? Articles shared as illustrations of this actually said no such thing.

One article making the rounds, from the New York Daily News, is headlined “A spike in New Yorkers ingesting household cleaners following Trump’s controversial coronavirus comments.” But the article makes no mention of anyone deliberately consuming household cleaners. It simply states that 30 people called the city’s poison control hotline “over fears that they had ingested bleach or other household cleaners.”

Fearing that you ingested something doesn’t jibe with having intentionally consumed that substance.

The authors of the Daily News piece, Anna Sanders and Chris Sommerfeldt, try to circumvent this inconvenient fact by noting that over the same time period in 2019, the Poison Control Center “only handled 13 similar cases.” And while this time, nine calls were about possible Lysol exposure and ten about bleach, last year’s calls contained “no cases reported about Lysol exposure and only two were specifically in regards to bleach.”

The paper doesn’t present any other data about calls to Poison Control for comparison. But one needn’t do a detailed analysis to surmise why exposure to things like Lysol and bleach—and fears about this exposure—might be up this month over April 2019. And one needn’t reach for the ridiculous explanation that it’s because people deliberately consumed it en masse after listening to Trump. We are in the midst of a pandemic right now and we were not in April 2019. Of course more people are being exposed to household disinfectants at the moment than were during this time last year.

The Daily News does note that none of the callers died or required hospitalization, which also suggests their exposure was minimal and not of the Lysol-mouthwash variety.

But the Daily News piece is far from the only poison-control story being framed misleadingly. A story out of Kentucky that’s being shared as “evidence” people have been consuming household cleaners following Trump’s Thursday statements is actually about calls to Kentucky poison control centers in March.

“Poison control centers around the country, including here in Kentucky, are seeing a spike in calls related to COVID-19,” says the WDRB.com story. Ashley Webb, director of the Kentucky Poison Control Center, told the outlet that “just in March, we saw about a 30% increase in hand sanitizer exposures and about a 50% increase in household cleaners.”

A similar spike in calls to poison control centers has been seen in many states. But these boosts all started in March, as people began using more household disinfectants to try and stave off the new coronavirus, and not just last week.”

Michigan reported “a nine percent increase in calls for accidental poisoning from home cleaning supplies” in March, says ABC 57.

In Maryland, over the past six weeks, “calls for toxic exposure to hand sanitizers have nearly doubled since the same time in 2018,” according to Fox 5 Baltimore. “In addition, the MD Control Center has had 95 calls for bleach exposure, more than double last year’s 46 calls in the same time period.”

In Illinois, two people “had ‘inappropriate exposure’ to disinfectants after President Trump’s COVID-19 briefing Thursday,” reported WCIA.com on Friday. But a spokesperson for Illinois Poison Control told WCIA that this wasn’t unusual and calls had been up 36 percent since the COVID-19 pandemic’s start, often related to people doing things like trying to wash produce with cleaners that are toxic for people to ingest.”

  14. Of course they did, because he’s a Democrat, and THIS is CNN.

“CNN Failed To Uncover Footage From Its Own Archives That Could Back Up Biden Accuser’s Allegations”

“CNN failed to uncover footage from its own archives that could back up Joe Biden accuser Tara Reade’s allegations against the former senator.

Reade, 56, has alleged that she was forced out of her job as a Senate staffer for former Vice President Joe Biden, who was previously a Delaware senator. She has accused Biden of sexually assaulting her.

Reade told The Intercept that her mother called into CNN’s old show “Larry King Live” about the incident, and the publication obtained a transcript Friday that appeared to back up Reade’s claims. Media Research Center then uncovered the video of that August 11, 1993 phone call.

Reade told the Daily Caller that it is her mother’s voice.”

#BelieveAllWomen, right? She has way more evidence than Kavanaugh’s accuser, who had none, that’s for sure.

“Potential Wuhan Coronavirus Treatment Uses UV Light to Disinfect Lungs”

“Maybe Trump missed his calling as a medical researcher. The president was roundly criticized for pondering whether or not UV light or other disinfectants that have proved effective at killing the Wuhan coronavirus on surfaces could somehow be administered inside the body to treat patients suffering from the disease. During Thursday’s coronavirus task force briefing, President Trump asked White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx whether sunlight has been explored as a possible treatment for those suffering from disease, specifically the coronavirus. ”

[Aytu BioScience, Inc. (the “Company”)], a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on commercializing novel products that address significant patient needs announced today that it has signed an exclusive worldwide license from Cedars-Sinai to develop and commercialize the Healight Platform Technology (“Healight”). This medical device technology platform, discovered and developed by scientists at Cedars-Sinai, is being studied as a potential first-in-class treatment for coronavirus and other respiratory infections.

The Healight technology employs proprietary methods of administering intermittent ultraviolet (UV) A light via a novel endotracheal medical device. Pre-clinical findings indicate the technology’s significant impact on eradicating a wide range of viruses and bacteria, inclusive of coronavirus.

“Our team has shown that administering a specific spectrum of UV-A light can eradicate viruses in infected human cells (including coronavirus) and bacteria in the area while preserving healthy cells,” stated Dr. Pimentel of Cedars-Sinai. Ali Rezaie, MD, one of the inventors of this technology states, “Our lab at Cedars-Sinai has extensively studied the effects of this unique technology on bacteria and viruses. Based on our findings we believe this therapeutic approach has the potential to significantly impact the high morbidity and mortality of coronavirus-infected patients and patients infected with other respiratory pathogens.

Here’s a video from the pharmaceutical company providing an overview of how the UV treatment works.”

“CNN ‘Larry King’ episode featuring Biden accuser’s mother disappears from Google Play catalog”

“The 1993 episode of CNN’s “Larry King Live” featuring an anonymous caller who was later identified as the mother of Biden accuser Tara Reade was no longer listed in Google Play’s catalog late Saturday.

Twitter user J.L. Hamilton shared a screenshot showing the Aug. 11, 1993, broadcast of “Larry King Live” was no longer listed in the season three catalog of the iconic CNN talk show. Mysteriously, though, the Aug. 10 broadcast, which is listed as “Episode 154” is followed by the Aug. 12 broadcast, which is listed as “Episode 155,” suggesting that episode and the ones that follow could be incorrectly listed and off by a number.

Fox News later verified the Aug. 11 episode is not listed on the streaming service. It is unclear when it was removed from the catalog.

Neither CNN nor Google immediately responded to Fox News’ requests for comment. Fox News also reached out to the representation of Larry King and have not heard a response.”

  22. Slicey and dicey….

That’s way too kind an assessment.

“Wuhan Virus Watch: Dr. Birx says media is “slicey and dicey” in how it creates coronavirus headlines

”I think the responsibility that the press has is to really ensure the headlines reflect the science and data that is in the piece itself.””

“Today’s updaate will start with a look at Saturday’s interview of Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Deborah Birx on Watters’ World.

While the segment was wide-ranging, the most interesting part was her critique of the media coverage of the last briefing. Specifically, Birx was asked to comment on President Donald Trump’s query regarding disinfectants.

“We heard from DHS [Department of Homeland Security], one of the scientists on Thursday say that sunlight, increased temperature and humidity could have an effect on killing the virus in the air, on surfaces,” host Jesse Watters said on “Watters’ World” Saturday. “And the president spitballing and he’s asking questions: Would it be possible to maybe target the virus through a cure using certain ingredients or using sunlight?”

“You didn’t believe the president was putting anybody in danger, did you?” Watters asked Birx.

“No, when [he] gets new information, he likes to talk that through out loud and really have that dialogue,” Birx said. “And so that’s what dialogue he was having.”

Watters asked if the media coverage has been fair throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Birx reviewed her vast, international media experience and noted:

“I think the media is very slicey and dicey in how they put sentences together in order to create headlines. We know for millennials in other studies that some people may only read the headlines…and if there is not a graphic, they’re not going to look any further than that.

“I think we have to be responsible about our headlines. I think often the reporting may be accurate in paragraph 3, 4 and 5. But I’m not sure how many people get to paragraph 3, 4 and 5. And I think the responsibility that the press has is to really ensure the headlines reflect the science and data that is in the piece itself.”

Truly, the good doctor does know how to diagnose a disease. The full segment is below:”
