It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajisuun and The Gambia.
Anyone else?
Psalm 119:57-64
57 You are my portion, Lord; I have promised to obey your words. 58 I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. 59 I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. 60 I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. 61 Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law. 62 At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws. 63 I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts. 64 The earth is filled with your love, Lord; teach me your decrees.
Please pray for Miguel, as he is still sick. He has a raging sinus infection, which usually turns into pneumonia. He needs to go to the Dr today, but I am not sure he will consent. I have taught my son how to load the wheelchair, and Miguel can get in and out of the minivan I brought up last night, that we could not go to his mother’s for Christmas if he is sick. He has an uncle, with cancer, that he is wanting to go over to AZ to see. He needs to get well.
Also, please pray for my uncle. He is 82, and has taken a sharp decline in the last few weeks. About a year or two ago, he decided he would call my mom every Saturday, and had been faithful to do that every week. About a month ago, he stopped calling, and my mom tried to inquire about him at his assisted living facility, by calling there. (It is in a different state many hours from where my parents live, so she can’t easily get there to see him.)
She’s having a hard time finding out just what is going on, as she is not authorized to receive any information about his health (HIPAA business, I suppose), but word has it that someone who was with him, visiting, saw him just stare at his phone when it started ringing, not knowing what to do.
Mom’s and Uncle B’s mom died of Alzheimer’s at age 89, and their older brother died of a similar, progressive dementia-type illness in 2011, about six months after his diagnosis, when he was in his early 80s. Things don’t sound good for my uncle (though he is seeing a urologist who may be able to help figure out why my uncle had such a dramatic decline so suddenly.
Mom says she thinks she has probably already had her last conversation with her brother, her only surviving sibling. She is strong in her faith, and Uncle B is ready to meet his Lord, but they could both use your prayers. Thank you.
6, remember that urological problems can lead to confusion. I believe that Elvera had a bout with that, and I have heard of others. Hopefully by clearing up one problem it will help otherwise.
Prayers for Miquel.I hope you will be able to see those you hope to see at Christmas.
Janice, Elvera did have a urology problem, but that wasn’t the cause of her dementia.
It certainly didn’t help, but I haven’t noticed a change except for constant gradual declination.
Janice, 2:36, you’re right, urinary tract infections can cause confusion, something I didn’t know until I read it here in past discussions. I told my mom that, and that’s when she mentioned he’s got a urologist, and she was hoping he’d check my uncle for problems like that and treat accordingly. So perhaps that confusion about what he should do when the phone rings is only a temporary problem, one that can be remedied with proper medication for any infection he might have.
The family history is hard to ignore, though, and that, along with this most recent episode (there have been other signs of decline in recent years, as well, though not as dramatic as this one), is probably a big concern for my mom, and likely the reason she believes in the distinct possibility that they’ve already had their last conversation.
My dad’s health and morale is declining, as well — hard to see a husband and one’s only living sibling both appearing to be slipping away at the same time, even when they all trust in Jesus (and they do).
One more thing: I was vague up above @ 1:06 with my “We can always use [prayers] here.” I have one specific prayer request about a previous matter that has a new development to it.
The motorcycle saga hasn’t ended. The coworker still has the bike, hubby still has the title. The new development is that when I opened the mail the other day, I saw the motorcycle insurance cancellation notice. Hubby canceled it last week.
The coworker has paid him 50% of the asking price so far. Please pray that he will pay the rest of the money and that everything involving the title transfer and whatever else is needed will be completely finished before anything happens with that bike or the kid.
You can pray for me for patience, too. I am getting better at accepting that hubby just does what he wants to do, regardless of my expressed feelings on any particular matter, but I’m not always sure that being “accepting” of that is the best, either. (Not sure, actually, whether “accepting” is the right word.)

I can’t change him, in any case.
Pray as you feel led. Thanks so much.
