Prayer Requests 3-13-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 12

Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
    those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
Everyone lies to their neighbor;
    they flatter with their lips
    but harbor deception in their hearts.

May the Lord silence all flattering lips
    and every boastful tongue—
those who say,
    “By our tongues we will prevail;
    our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”

“Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
    I will now arise,” says the Lord.
    “I will protect them from those who malign them.”
And the words of the Lord are flawless,
    like silver purified in a crucible,
    like gold refined seven times.

You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
    and will protect us forever from the wicked,
who freely strut about
    when what is vile is honored by the human race.

  1. Yes, “The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.” There is a whole lot of strutting going on these days. 😦

    🙂 Men don’t change without God’s help. He is eager to give us His help. God never changes. He sees and cares.

  2. I do not know the people involved in this, but for some reason it is really touching my heart, so I thought I’d share it here. . .

    On Facebook last night, I saw a post saying that a man got mad at his girlfriend’s dog for chewing on something, so he took him out & dumped him somewhere. He is refusing to tell where. (It is possible that he killed the dog, & doesn’t want to admit it.)

    As I said, I don’t know these people, & it’s “just a dog”, but would you please pray that the jerk tells where he dumped him, or that the dog is found somehow? (Or that he admits to killing him, if that is the case.) We are going to have a huge snowstorm tomorrow, & the temps currently are pretty low, with a windchill in the single digits. The photo of the dog shows that it is of a short haired breed. I feel sorry for the dog, & for the lady who loves him.

  3. BG isn’t feeling well today. She has slept a lot and is still not ready to get up. I got her to drink something but no food.

    Also in the middle of all of this my friend L with the bladder issues told me that she has a rare but treatable form of ovarian cancer. She starts chemo this week.

  4. Kim, she needs to be moving. No, it isn’t comfortable to do anything after surgery – but lack of activity after surgery increases the risk of complications, including pneumonia and blood clots. Gallbladder surgery is quite routine – our biology lecturer had her gallbladder removed during the fall semester break week and was back lecturing the next week. If you were given post-op instructions, they should be followed. If BG was in the hospital, the nurses would be making her to the deep breathing and coughing and walking around, as described in this sheet: https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/surgery/gi/Documents/FMPH268LapCholePostop.pdf

  5. She is up and moving now. I do think she was just worn out. I bought pedialyte and mixed it with her Gator Ade. She has had a glass of that. I also got her to drink a Carnation Breakfast Drink. It had the highest calorie count of any of those type drinks I could find.
    I will get her up and moving after she showers. That should make her feel better and wake her up a little more.

  6. Hope BG gets to feeling better soon. Praying for her recovery.

    I’m requesting continued prayers regarding my request from this weekend’s thread. For wisdom in communication. (A key conversation having to do with that situation will be in the near future.) Thanks.

  7. Sarah the Missionary is a fine theologian. Here is her latest report and prayer request:

    Omnipresent.

    There are so many attributes of God that I appreciate. But, in this difficult season, it is His omnipresence that we have developed new and deeper appreciation for…

    Our little Daniel has been in the NICU now for one week and 2 days. We can’t hold him. There are times when it is ok for us to reach in and touch him, but that is it. It’s heartbreaking. It would be unbearable if I did not know that our good Father is holding our son.
    He is always present with Daniel. When we leave the hospital, God does not. He is always there with our boy, and He always will be. Thank you, God, that You are everywhere present. You do not tire. You do not leave. You hold our little baby when we cannot. My heart has been so comforted by this attribute that is only true of the Almighty God.

    The NICU is an ever changing place. Every day there are new tests and new things to pray for:
    – PRAISE! Just yesterday, they removed Daniel’s jet ventilator from his room! This is a HUGE step forward. The nurses were practically throwing a party for him because they did not expect this machine to go away for another 4 days…the doctor told me later, “He just looked ready.” Pray that he would not need this machine again.
    – His LUNGS. By far, this is the most critical thing about Daniel’s prematurity. Pray for God’s healing touch on his lungs.
    – We were told last week that he has 2 small brain bleeds- one on each side. This is common after birth because the blood vessels are very, very fragile. At this point, the doctors believe they will heal on their own. Please pray they do.
    – Premature babies who are on high levels of oxygen support for too long can become blind. Pray that God would protect Daniel’s eyesight and that he would suffer no longterm complications from the life support.
    – Pray that David and I would be able to rest.
    – Pray that my body would heal completely.

    “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139:9,10

    Never before in my life has God’s omnipresence meant so much to me. He is with Daniel, He is with us, and He is with you at this very minute. How powerful is our God!
    Thank you for praying for our boy and our family. It means so much to us…
