Prayer Requests 7-13-22

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia.

Anyone else?

Psalm 147

Praise the Lord.

   How good it is to sing praises to our God,
    how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
    he gathers the exiles of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted
    and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars
    and calls them each by name.
Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
    his understanding has no limit.
The Lord sustains the humble
    but casts the wicked to the ground.

Sing to the Lord with grateful praise;
    make music to our God on the harp.

He covers the sky with clouds;
    he supplies the earth with rain
    and makes grass grow on the hills.
He provides food for the cattle
    and for the young ravens when they call.

10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
    nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,
    who put their hope in his unfailing love.

12 Extol the Lord, Jerusalem;
    praise your God, Zion.

13 He strengthens the bars of your gates
    and blesses your people within you.
14 He grants peace to your borders
    and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.

15 He sends his command to the earth;
    his word runs swiftly.
16 He spreads the snow like wool
    and scatters the frost like ashes.
17 He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
    Who can withstand his icy blast?
18 He sends his word and melts them;
    he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.

19 He has revealed his word to Jacob,
    his laws and decrees to Israel.
20 He has done this for no other nation;
    they do not know his laws.

   Praise the Lord.

  1. I was thinking this morning about Job and how he prayed and offered sacrifices for his children. He was so concerned for their spiritual lives. It made me wonder if he reared his children born after his excruciating illness differently from his children born before it. It seems this is a difficult area to trust God. It also seems the way to trust him is to know him better and better. Job certainly comes to a better understanding at the end of that experience than before.

  3. Amen and amen

    Little 6 yr old Simon’s family has been weighing upon my heart. He was out for a bike ride out by the Springs airport with his Dad and sister and ran ahead to the trail marker….he was bitten by a rattlesnake. He passed away Monday. This is a strong following Jesus family and they are missing their boy 😞

  4. Weeping with those who weep.

    I’d like to rejoice.

    A friend who so much wanted a third child–especially after a tragic ectopic pregnancy a few years ago–showed me a photo on Monday.

    I was so excited–and surprised–I jumped up and down clapping my hands and turning in a circle.

    God is good. It’s early yet, but the baby is looking good at 7 weeks!

  5. Oh, that little Simon, gone too soon, too. So much grief for those with sudden losses of their young ones.

    Thank you, M, for reminding of the gains in life that bring joy even as others go through tremendous loss. It keeps people hopeful of better days.

  6. Yesterday I had asked prayer for Chickadee but somehow forgot to mention that she recently told me that she has been more depressed and sad since Angel died.

    A little earlier today, I texted her and told her that if she ever wants to be dropped off for an impromptu visit to feel free to do so. I wondered why I hadn’t mentioned that before, but then thought that maybe she wouldn’t have been ready to consider that before now. Hoping and praying that she will consider it, and actually do it.
