Prayer Requests 10-31-18

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajisuun and The Gambia.

Anyone else?

Psalm 85

You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
You forgave the iniquity of your people
    and covered all their sins.
You set aside all your wrath
    and turned from your fierce anger.

Restore us again, God our Savior,
    and put away your displeasure toward us.
Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
Will you not revive us again,
    that your people may rejoice in you?
Show us your unfailing love, Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.

I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—
    but let them not turn to folly.
Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
    that his glory may dwell in our land.

10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 The Lord will indeed give what is good,
    and our land will yield its harvest.
13 Righteousness goes before him
    and prepares the way for his steps.

  1. The evening with family went well. My mom looks wonderful. I hadn’t seen her since the end of July, since she moved with my sister to Florida. My brother had his bladder out. Sadly, he ordered my sister out of the hospital room when she went to visit with my mom. My mom did visit that day and the next. His wife has caused an awful lot of problems. It does not surprise me. My mom was very sad about that. I had no idea when the surgery would take place, since he does not communicate with me either. My sister is not all innocent either, but my SIL and other brother have done all they can and they are dead to this brother also. What a mess.

    OTOH, I have seen first hand how much better is God’s way of forgiveness and grace to others! I have seen how He can make relationships work in ways you would never believe.

  2. You know how there are serious fevers and then there are low-grade fevers? Serious fevers need treatment for the underlying cause, but low-grade fevers are often merely due to a cold that will pass in a while.

    Well, I have come to realize that I am, and have been for a while, experiencing a “low-grade depression”. It is not obvious to others, but I recognize the difference in my feelings about things and how I over-react internally (by getting angry or wanting to cry – or both) to things that ordinarily would only be annoying or moderately frustrating.

    It has also caused me to slack off on my usual way of housecleaning. Today I finally got around to sweeping and cleaning my kitchen floor, which I hadn’t done in a while. (It did make me feel better when I was finished.)

    Please pray for me to be patient – with myself and others – while I go through this, and to not give in to the temptation that comes with it to give up on doing things that are important to me. Thank you.

  3. Kizzie, it helped me when Mike suggested I always do laundry on Tuesday. It was not a random thing, it became routine. You probably had certain days for certain things. Try to get that back and it will help. Routine is actually therapeutic. Depression drains you of all motivation but if you can latch onto “on Thursday I am going to dust” it will help. It gives a purpose, however small, it is purpose.

  4. Mumsee – I agree. So I have planned what I need to do tomorrow and Friday to get the rest of the housecleaning done before Friday afternoon.

    (Nightingale will be picking up Chickadee on her way home from work on Friday. We are going to have a Girls’ Night, with Chickadee spending the night.)
