Psalm 40:1-5
1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
4 Blessed is the one
who trusts in the Lord,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.
5 Many, Lord my God,
are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.
Wandering Views 
Carol’s back in the hospital for the cellulitis, not a surprise after she’d told me it had returned. That usually requires an antibiotic IV for several days. She’s undoubtedly developing an antibiotic resistance after so many years, hoping though that they’ll be able to knock it out quickly without too long of a stay. But she does get a private room (due to her MRSA) and she has a phone, at last.
My cousin goes in for hip replacement surgery tomorrow, pray for a smooth operation and as easy-as-possible recovery.

Also heard from my friend E down the street (who has recently-diagnosed post-polio syndrome and is out of work due to back spasms that in the past 2 months have become chronic). I’d texted asking how she was doing today and she said she’d fill me in later but was off to the MD for some “startling” new developments in the back pain, something not good she said, but added the Lord “has it.” So prayers for that, whatever it is, I asked if she needed a ride and she said no. I’ll find out more later presumably.

I do not always put up the concerns I have, but today seems to be bringing me more than I can handle:
My great uncle has dementia, and his family is finding it difficult to handle.
Second sibling-in-law just lost his job today.
Youngest sibling started labour signs last week but has not progressed, which is somewhat concerning.
I have an ethical burden that I always carry, being a part of the profession that I am in the modern age that we live in. I need to know how best to be faithful in a day when personal choice always trumps every other ethical consideration. I do not feel more righteous than those whose choices I disagree with; in fact, I understand very much why people feel the need to make certain choices, however much those choices may grieve me. I just want to act the way Jesus would, not self righteously condemning others, but rather giving hope to those who are giving up hope and also protecting those who are weak and vulnerable.

Hubby came home from work early — he did something to his hip yesterday, and by the end of half a day at work today, he could hardly walk.
His mom can use prayers, too. She’s been admitted to the hospital four times already this year, the most recent two times just last week. Trouble with a racing heart. She is back at home again, but all these hospitalizations are wearying on her and her concerned children, especially, I’m sure, the son with whom she lives.
