  1. I hope those cheering the bipartisanship of the uniparty are prepared for the entirely foreseeable consequences.

President Vladimir Putin has ordered Russian forces to rehearse deploying tactical nuclear weapons, as part of military drills to respond to what he called “threats” by the West.

Since invading Ukraine in 2022, Putin has repeatedly made veiled threats to use tactical nuclear weapons against the West, but Monday marked the first time Russia has publicly announced drills.

“During the exercises, a set of measures will be carried out to practice the issues of preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons,” Russia’s defense ministry said.

Non-strategic, or “tactical,” nuclear weapons can be used in battlefield situations, carrying less power than strategic nuclear weapons, which have the potential to level entire cities.

Russia’s defense ministry said the drills were ordered after “provocative statements and threats” by Western officials against Russia, which Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said had reached “unprecedented levels.”

French President Emmanuel Macron last week reaffirmed that he would not rule out sending Western troops to Ukraine, as he warned of the risks Russia poses to European security and other countries near its borders.

“I’m not ruling anything out, because we are facing someone who is not ruling anything out,” Macron told The Economist magazine. “I have a clear strategic objective: Russia cannot win in Ukraine. If Russia wins in Ukraine, there will be no security in Europe. Who can pretend that Russia will stop there?”
nd during a visit to Ukraine last week, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that Ukraine could use British-supplied weapons to strike targets inside Russia.

“In terms of what the Ukrainians do, in our view it is their decision about how to use these weapons. They are defending their country. They were illegally invaded by Putin and they must take those steps,” Cameron told reporters after the United Kingdom pledged continued financial and military support for Ukraine.

The drills announcement also comes shortly after the United States last month passed a long-delayed aid package for Kyiv, which will allow desperately needed military equipment and ammunition to flow to Ukraine as it tries to shore up its frontlines in the face of a renewed Russian onslaughts. ….”

  3. It’s a new week, and the media continues to suck.

“Absolutely damning report on the way the Biden administration colluded with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Amazon to restrict not only real disinformation but “borderline content”, i.e. content that was not untrue and did not violate these companies’ policy, but was critical of the official policy (especially of course vaccines.)

Regardless of political affiliation, this report should make the headlines of all serious newspapers. It is not difficult to see that it is Republican-inspired, but the evidence is massive and this is by far more important. Again, I would never vote for the Republicans myself, but if I were American I would certainly care about having a quality Democratic administration. Freedom of speech should be above any affiliation.

Instead it is being ignored by mainstream media – which tells enough about where they stand as far as democratic principles are concerned…”

  4. Apparently the current administration is still colluding with social media to silence its opposition. Recently RFK gave an interview that FB improperly silenced.

“LOS ANGELES—MAY 6, 2024—A PAC supporting Independent Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. released on Saturday a 30-minute biographical film about the life of RFK Jr., his environmental activism, and why he’s running for President. “Who Is Bobby Kennedy?”, narrated by Woody Harrelson, has already garnered more than 6 million views across multiple platforms.

Viewers attempting to share the film on Facebook and Instagram were in for an unpleasant surprise when they were unable to upload the video. The reasons Meta gave users were inconsistent. Some were told the video was spam or that the link went to a malicious website, or that it contained “graphic and violent content,” while others were told it violated community standards. And some simply got an error message saying “upload failed.”

“If supporters of all candidates do not have equal access to the digital public square, then we have a democracy in name only,” Kennedy said. “This goes beyond restricting freedom of expression on issues and ideas. Meta is censoring a biographical film about a major candidate in an election year. How can voters make an informed choice if they are denied basic information about a candidate’s life? ”

Condemnation of what many view as flagrant election interference was widespread, with hundreds of users posting screenshots documenting censorship on Facebook and Instagram. The campaign has collected these screenshots and a sampling of them can be viewed here. In some cases, Meta even removed comments referring to the removal of their posts.

After these tactics attracted unwelcome attention, Meta changed strategies, allowing uploads but algorithmically suppressing the video, to the point where the video gets zero views even when posted by users with thousands of followers.

Not only were users prevented from posting the video, but in many cases Meta also suspended their accounts for two or six days….”

  5. And I don’t acknowledge the made-up *uniparty* term. But here’s some background on how it emerged (via Politico, circa 2017 or so):

“The Uniparty” is the latest populist buzzword to seize the imagination of the drain-the-swamp crowd, those who see grand conspiracies in the machinations of the “deep state” and globalist-corporate forces. It has a crisp clarity, instantly conveying the idea of an establishment cabal, Democrat and Republican alike, arrayed against their outsider hero, Donald Trump.

But while “the Uniparty” may be trendy among the Breitbart set, it wasn’t born there. In fact, if you go back to the contentious presidential race of 2000, you’ll find it arose as a political barb among supporters of Ralph Nader, running as the nominee of the Green Party. …

  6. Oh well if you don’t acknowledge it…. 🙄

There’s a lot you refuse to acknowledge I notice. But the term stands, and it’s accurate.

Your boy Johnson runs it with Jeffries. Just because you won’t acknowledge that doesn’t make it any less true.

And war pigs is accurate. Did our uniparty Congress stop the invasion on the southern border?

No. But they did fund war in Ukraine, Israel, even funded Hamas in order to keep it rolling. They’re war pigs feeding at the trough of defense contractor stocks, whether you acknowledge it or not.

  7. See. Johnson and company want to send arms to Israel. Biden held it up to appease his base and has angered the war pigs and their leaders.

“The Biden Administration has reportedly halted an ammunition shipment to Israel. The report came out after a group of more than 80 Democrats requested that Biden halt aid to Israel, arguing that the country’s government is blocking humanitarian aid from reaching Gaza.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., said on Tuesday that “it is time for the Biden administration to stop holding up that aid to Israel.”

Scalise said that Congress “came together in a very bipartisan way to pass that much needed relief, so that they can go and root out a terrorist organization who killed Israelis, who killed Americans, who still has about 130 hostages.”

    ——

    bipartisan = uniparty

Also, arms and ammo are not much needed relief, in fact they’re quite the opposite.

  8. War pigs, war hawks. Potato, potahto. Neither one are peacemakers and both have blood on their hands whatever you may call them. It’s enlightening to see the things that are important when nuclear war is on the table.

  9. On the home front, Emory University will hold graduation off-campus which disappoints some who wanted the traditional graduation on the quad. The professors have done a no confidence vote in the university President who called in police and state troopers. Emory has many Jewish students. It’s all very sad. My doctors are on that campus. 😳

  10. Don’t get me wrong. The world will probably end with a bang whenever God decides he’s had enough and it’s time. That’s fine. His will be done. But why are we as believers cheering this madness on? And yes I believe we are doing just that

  11. So this thread illustrates the deep divide in our nation, doesn’t it?

I don’t see it ending anytime soon, although the 1960s/early ’70s did finally quiet down.

But perhaps only to resurface in the early 2000s in the guise of right-wing “populism”?

Are we one nation anymore? Doesn’t much feel like it, does it?

We may be again, but time and history will tell. We seemed to make it generally work for more than 200 years.

May God have mercy — and may we never forget our first calling as followers of Jesus, and treat each other (and even our enemies) respectfully.

    It’s in The Book.

  13. Debra, I was talking about the tenor of discussions among ourselves (@7:38) which can become unnecessarily heated and even ugly — not the merits of a particular position over which we disagree.

We hold different positions, clearly, which have been reached, we trust, in good faith.

  14. Hawley: Federal govt canceled MN mineral leases after meeting with left-wing group – Alpha News Hawley: Federal govt canceled MN mineral leases after meeting with left-wing group – Alpha News

Companies have spent millions of dollars and years on studies to make sure the environment is kept safe. No matter: government will do what it will do depending on who is in office. This is disgusting, but not surprising.

In the meanwhile, we will get important minerals from slave labor, little children and other countries who pollute with impunity.
