Prayer Requests 10-8-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 12

¹Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

  1. A man in our church, Paul, is a retired Coast Guard helicopter pilot and avid bike rider. About four years ago, he mentioned to his mother-in-law his problems with shortness of breath after a ride, along with other concerns. Horrified, she said, “that sounds like my congestive heart failure.”

It was. He received a heart transplant at Stanford the following Easter Sunday.

It turns out he has some rare disease, and now medically retired from everything, has devoted himself to the disease’s web page where he encourages, counsels and talks with the others who have the same disease. Knowing his time is limited, he has turned himself into a human guinea pig for Stanford’s medical community.

Two months ago, he went in for a knee replacement surgery. Something went wrong and while the knee works fine, his body was ravaged by an infection. It moved throughout his body, slamming down particularly hard on his digits, This last week, they amputated most of his fingers and toes.

Please pray for Paul and his wife Linda. They have been troupers through a most extraordinary and difficult four years. I have no idea what to pray. When I read the request last night, all I could say was, “Lord, Lord, Lord. I have no words.”

    Thank you.

  2. A couple of days ago, the long time karate instructor to my children died of a heart failure. It was particularly hard on the daughter who is living with my dad as she had still been working with him. Had been doing karate with him two days earlier. That afternoon she learned that a twelve year old who helped her in the church nursery died in a car accident. No seatbelt. The seventeen year old driver was texting. The child went through the windshield and was shortly after taken off life support. She was just about to start a round of chemo for her cancer. Think what you like. Pray for her family and the seventeen year old driver who is in the hospital with broken collar bone, etc. Pray for daughter. Thanks.

  3. Heavenly Father,

Thank You that the storm was not worse. Thank You that the wind has died down here this evening. I just heard that loud booming and maybe a train stopping on the tracks behind the house across the street. I don’t know if it is nothing or something, but terrorist attacks are never far away in my thinking. Please keep us safe. Please keep all churches and big sporting events safe tomorrow. We take so much for granted. You are our only true protection. All else gives a sense of protection, but only You can be everywhere at once.

The prayer requests mentioned here are so critical. Only You know how to deal with such things. Please help those in need. Give them Your strength when they feel too overwhelmed. May they recognize new depths of Your love through their difficulties and losses.

Please bless 6 Arrows at the concert. Thank You that good attire was located for the event. Thank You for opportunities for her to play the duets and keep up her skills while providing entertainment for others.

I continue to lift up those spiritually lost children of our blog family. Each week I think of them on Saturday night as thoughts turn toward Sunday’s worship service. Please turn the hearts to know You and Your love. May a longing be felt that will only be fulfilled by drawing closer to You and accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. May our persistent prayers be acceptable and encouraging You to act on these young people.

Thank You that Art continues to do well. Please help our son through the mountain of school work he has pressing in on him. Help him to finish this semester with good grades.

Please bless those who have anniversaries this month. Also, please help Roscuro to feel better and to do well with her magnitude of schoolwork.

    I pray in Jesus’ name,
    Amen

  4. More scary sounds from the train tracks. Things that are going boom in the night…it could be a tree down on the tracks that caused the train to halt its travels. We have had a lot of wind today.

  5. Thank you for your prayer, Janice. Tonight was truly a blessing — see daily thread. 🙂

I’ll be praying for the above requests as I wind down this day. A good time for quiet prayer.

  7. Will do, Kizzie.

I’d like to request prayer for a family in our church. The couple has a severely autistic son, and they diligently bring him to worship every week, and each week is very difficult. Loud moans and wailing from the boy, which can be plainly heard inside the closed doors of the sanctuary even after they’ve taken him out, which they have to do probably every week.

Today was especially hard — they couldn’t get him to even sit down in a pew. He looks to be about 100 pounds now, so when he physically resists, there isn’t much that can be done. But Mom & Dad tirelessly bring him to hear the Word preached every week, even if it isn’t long that all three can be in the sanctuary together.

I can’t imagine the challenges they face day-to-day when all I see is this one-hour glimpse of their lives each week. Please pray for their son (N) and this very God-fearing and persevering couple.

  8. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for a good church service. Please bless my congregation as we do some revisioning.

I ask, Father God, that You will keep Kizzie immune from virus germs during this time before her second round of surgery. But if that does not meet Your needs for the best turnout in regards to her surgery and overall health and family situation, then I know You know best. Please keep Little Guy in a positive frame of mind, and give him understanding beyond his years concerning the hurtful behavior exhibited by his dad. Please bring peace to saturate the lives of all affected.

I pray for the family of the autistic child. Lord, those families who have children who are out of control during social events do need extra support and stamina. I know others in similar situations and lift these mentioned here along with (K) and his family. I pray Your supernatural peace to settle the behavior of the children. Help the parents to feel freedom from judgment by onlookers. Please show people what they can do to help.

Thank You for taking us thus far safely toward election of a new president. I pray You will make any voter fraud obvious and halt it before it distorts election results. I pay that many who did not vote in the last cycle will vote this time around. I pray for those who feel they can not vote. It is such a difficult decision weighing on those who want to be good citizens of the USA.

Please bless my brother in his interview this week. Please bless Art as he continues in his recuperation. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
