  1. Yesterday, I was surprised that many Christians were very concerned about the plight of our animals – particularly since the vast choice of items on our pet food aisles looked better than what I ate as a child. I was informed that dogs and cats have it pretty good, but that the chickens and pigs we have for breakfast and dinner have concentration camp style lives.

Curious, I visited the PETA website and was introduced to a new group of crazies of which I had been previously blissfully unaware.

Properly chastened, I am now committed to the proposition that all chickens should not be kept in coops, but should be allowed to run freely around antebellum Atlanta, dodging foxes and Uncle Peters who are chasing them with hatchets, determined to make them “Christmas dinner for the white folks”.

  2. Two items from Drudge:

Less than six hours after the mass shooting today in Roseburg, Ore., President Obama called a press conference to demand new gun laws, a move he predicted would spur critics to accuse him of politicizing the issue. If they don’t accuse him of that, they might accuse him of making
    the tragedy about himself.
During today’s 12-minute address, President Obama referred to himself 28 times. (For those counting at home, that’s almost three times per minute.)

Growing speculation that John Kerry will receive a Nobel Peace Prize for finalizing the Iranian nuclear deal is generating renewed criticism of his close relationship with the Iranian foreign minister, Javad Zarif, a key public face for the theocratic regime who is rumored to be a probable co-recipient with Kerry.
Rumors have been circulating for months that Kerry and Zarif will be co-selected for the prize.

  3. I don’t think anyone here supports PETA. Just sayin’. They are the secular voice saying animals are worth more than human beings.

Doesn’t sound Christian at all, does it?

That’s not what we’ve been talking about.

  4. chas, the president’s speech was more insufferable than most of his scoldings.

Did anyone hear Netanyahu’s speech at the UN? It was on the radio on my way in to work yesterday. Good stuff. I still shake my head at the treatment our president has given him over the years.

This presidency can’t end too soon.

A little over a year to go now?

    Longest 2nd term. Ever.

  5. Meanwhile, pope: hoodwinked.

A highly placed source inside the Vatican claims the Pope was blindsided.
The Vatican has since tried to distance Pope Francis from Davis. Vatican spokesman Rev.

Federico Lombardi said the pope’s meeting with Davis was not an endorsement of her decision to refuse to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

“The Pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects,” he said.

  6. Meanwhile ….

Vatican City (AFP) – For Catholic bishops, all roads lead to Rome this weekend and a resumption of the battle over the future of Church teaching on the vexed and divisive issues of homosexuality, divorce and cohabitation.

A second and final round of a landmark review of Church teaching on the family begins on Sunday with Pope Francis pushing for reform in the teeth of fierce resistance from conservative clerics fearful of a dilution of long-cherished doctrine on the sanctity of marriage.

The three-week long synod follows a sometimes stormy first meeting this time last year which laid bare the depth of divisions in the Church and, some say, exacerbated a climate of mistrust related to the direction Francis is leading it.

  7. Donna,

    Hoodwinked…. sure. 🙄

I guess that’s what this was too, though I suspect given their matching messages, he was in on it too.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3249029/Pope-s-encounter-daughter-illegal-immigrants-5-work-immigration-group-planned-year-girl-security-guards-kissed-blessed.html

“Pope’s encounter with daughter of illegal immigrants, 5, was the work of immigration group who planned for a year to get the girl through security guards to be blessed
Sophie Cruz was part of a crowd of thousands lining the papal route in Washington to catch a glimpse of the pontiff
As he passed she got over police barricades and ran out into the street in an attempt to approach the pope-mobile
The five-year-old was stopped by U.S. Secret Service but was then gestured over by Pope Francis who blessed her
It has now been revealed that Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition had been planning the moment for a year.

Sophie Cruz’s brief encounter with Pope Francis during his parade in Washington this week appeared to be the kind of spontaneous moment that is so endearing about this pope: an initially hesitant young child wrapping an arm around his neck as he offers a kiss and a blessing.
But for 5-year-old Sophie, the moment unfolded as perfectly as it was scripted by members of a coalition of Los Angeles-based immigration rights groups. They had been preparing for nearly a year for the young girl from suburban Los Angeles to make a dash for the pope-mobile to deliver a message about the plight of immigrant parents living in the country illegally.
They had even pulled off a similar public-relations coup a year ago in Rome using a 10-year-old girl with the pope.”

Not a “real meeting.” ooooo kay then.

VATICAN CITY (RNS) The Vatican is downplaying Pope Francis’ controversial meeting with Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk jailed for refusing to grant marriage licenses to gay couples, saying their encounter “should not be considered a form of support of her position.”

The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, also said in a statement issued Friday (Oct. 2) that Davis was one of “several dozen” people Francis met at the Vatican Embassy in Washington on Sept. 24 as he prepared to leave for New York, the second leg of his U.S. trip.

  9. Funny, the President forgot to mention this during his latest condescending lecture on the need for yet more gun control. I guess when the govt. provides murderous criminals with the weapons, it doesn’t warrant mentioning.

    http://tucson.com/news/local/border/men-found-guilty-in-killing-of-border-patrol-agent/article_ace3de56-686d-11e5-9c79-73056090ab85.html

“Two men were convicted of murder charges Thursday in the killing of a Border Patrol agent whose death brought to light the bungled federal gun-tracking operation known as Fast and Furious.

The jury found Jesus Leonel Sanchez-Meza, also known as Lionel Portillo-Meza, and Ivan Soto-Barraza, guilty of all counts. They face a sentence of life in prison.

The 2010 killing of agent Brian Terry exposed the Fast and Furious operation in which agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives allowed criminals to buy guns with the intention of tracking the weapons. But the agency lost most of the guns, including two that were found at scene of Terry’s death. The operation set off a political firestorm, led to congressional investigations and became a major distraction for President Barack Obama in his first term.

The judge in the murder case restricted any mention of Fast and Furious, but it still marked the first trial for any defendants in the case. Two suspects have already pleaded guilty, and two others remain fugitives.”

Sure judge, let’s ignore the obvious because the govt enabled these killers.

  10. And just a reminder…….

He also forgot to mention the 50 shooting that happened last weekend in “gun free” Chicago. Liberal gun control laws are useless there, despite the fact they have the most restrictive laws in the country.
