Prayer Requests 12-8-16

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 68:1-6

May God arise, may his enemies be scattered;
    may his foes flee before him.
May you blow them away like smoke—
    as wax melts before the fire,
    may the wicked perish before God.
But may the righteous be glad
    and rejoice before God;
    may they be happy and joyful.

Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
    extol him who rides on the clouds;
    rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
    is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families,
    he leads out the prisoners with singing;
    but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

  1. Those who will, please pray for my oldest son’s wife. She is pregnant and due in January. Just found out she seems to be in labor now. They were going to induce this month but may not have the chance. Baby boy is fine, but DIL has had some medical issues.

    It’s not her first; they have 10 and 12 yr old from previous marriage. They have wanted this baby for so long. It’s really a miracle given the medical issues.

  2. Praying, Debra. Also, for the friend you mentioned last night, RKessler.

    Please pray for a couple in our church. She has terminal cancer, and he also lost his first wife to the disease.

  3. UPDATE:
    They let DIL leave the hospital after getting medication. Her new due date is 12/28 (from 1/17) to be induced…if she lasts. She’ll have to really take it easy for the next 3 weeks. We’re hoping she can carry as long as possible. It’s looking good so far.

    Baby boy is healthy. I just learned today they’re planning to name him Andy (Andrew). Andy was my youngest son who was killed in a car accident almost 10 yrs ago. I’m teary-eyed happy.

    Thank you all for your continued prayers.

  4. Debra, I have a nephew (my sister’s oldest son) who was induced on 12/28.

    If she’s going into labor anyway, why are they looking to induce? Maybe there is a good medical reason, but induced births are harder and have more risk of C-section, so if she is going into labor naturally, why not instead take her off bed rest when it’s time for the baby to come? Or is that TMI?

  5. A friend’s husband is having back surgery tomorrow. They have 11 children, and he will be unable to work for three months. Please pray everything goes well.

  6. Cheryl, they have at least temporarily stopped the labor hoping she can carry until 12/28. She is about 34 weeks right now so those extra 3 weeks could be the difference in Andy being very underweight or just small. Pre-eclampsia is the reason they don’t want her to carry full term.

  7. Debra, pre-eclampsia is indeed a serious concern. Just wondered, if she was in labor without efforts to keep her from labor, why induction would then be necessary at the end, rather than removing efforts to keep her from early labor?

    Induction seems to be safer than when my sister had her firstborn almost 18 years ago, but after she induced her second as well (an easier, safer delivery), she determined she would not allow induction again–that it is a convenience for the doctor more than it is for the sake of mother or child. It might be different with pre-eclampsia, I don’t know–I know it’s something you don’t play with.

  8. Cheryl, I think you’re right about the timing–DIL did say as it gets closer to the target date they will be more likely to let nature take its course should she go into labor again. So I wouldn’t be surprised to hear she’s started up again when closer to the 28th.

    It is a potentially serious condition. Years ago I had a cousin who very nearly died giving birth because of it. But DIL is an RN and knows the danger. And I will be very relieved when both mother and child are safely on the other side of this delivery.

    Also it doesn’t help that they are in Colorado and I am not. I’m hoping for a trip before long.

  9. Report cards are done. I closed down the school computer exactly at 5pm which is when they were due. Such a relief. Time to relax. I lost one comment due to computer error, so I saved the rest of them into a word document before letting the program save them.
