Prayer Requests 1-14-13

Who can we pray for today?

Psalm 100

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.

Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

  1. Up with sick children all day and sick kids all night. Makes for a slow recovery. We should get the kid off to the vet today. She appears to be anemic and have ketosis, not to find out why. Thanks for praying for our small things as well as the major ones out there.

  2. Praying for recovery for children, goats & mumsee. 😉 How wonderful to know that God cares about all his little ones, including the 4-legged ones among his amazing and glorious creation.

I’ll ask for continued prayer for our work situation and the general (dismal) state of our collective morale during this very discouraging stretch. 😦

  3. Oh, and pray for my new neighbors (whom I have not met, the house next door is now in escrow) and that they’ll have a smooth transition into the neighborhood. I have no idea if it’s a family or a couple or what — I’ve only seen and heard numerous Spanish-speaking people over there, but I’m guessing this is extended family of whomever is buying the house.

I’d love it if they were believers. 🙂

  4. Please continue to pray for my niece, Teagan. Here’s what she wrote on FB yesterday:
“We will never be sure why things happen in this world. I will never know why God called Auntie Lorraine home before my diploma’s or why it is on the day of my great aunts funeral. I guess the only thing we have is faith and hope that we will be together someday. I will miss you both so much, I KNOW that you are in a special place where there is no such thing as grief or pain. And I KNOW that I will see you again.”

We’re so thankful for such a change in attitude from Saturday.

Please also continue to pray for baby Liam, he’s doing a bit better after they almost lost him on Saturday. He needs to stabilize in order to fly to Vancouver for a PET scan, so they can know which parts of his pancreas to remove. Otherwise the doctors will remove 98% of the pancreas, leaving him a diabetic. There’s also a lot of red tape and hoops to jump through when going out of province for testing.

  5. Sorry Mumsee. We had a couple of goats when I was a child. They can be very sweet little animals. I’ve never understood why God seems to like sheep better. Sheep strike me as kind of stupid and unfriendly compared to goats.

  6. Our sheep are also quite sweet. Well, not the ram. Even though he is a miniature, he makes it quite clear where the term battering ram comes from. But our daughter who works with him, a massively strong girl, has him well under control most of the time. Thanks, KBells. We are saddened.

I would get rid of goats all together but I am not convinced our country is going to be in a condition that our knowing about goats won’t come in useful.

  7. Mumsee-Sorry you’re dealing with illness and the death of the kid. Hope everyone is back to health soon. I had a pet goat named Sandy as a child. We had a very special relationship. She would come when called and did tricks.

    Kare2012: Praying

Please continue to lift up my niece, HG, in prayer. She will be traveling with my sister to Rwanda on January 18. Her moods are quite mercurial. Please pray they are able to complete the travel without incident.

  8. An old-timer in our town whose family came here from Croatia told me the story of how all his friends had dogs or other pets when he was growing up. But his parents wouldn’t allow him to have a pet.

Then, they presented him with a goat as a “pet.” He took the little goat everywhere with him on a leash.

Until he (the goat) was served for dinner one night. 😦 Guess his parents didn’t tell him that part ahead of time.

  9. Donna, my neighbor did that to his little girls with a rabbit. He raised rabbits to sell and eat, but he gave one to his daughters as a pet. When he ran out of rabbits he served that one up for dinner. One of the girls (my age now) lives next door to me. She has about six dogs, several cats and at least one bird. I guess she is still trying to compensate for the loss of “Thumper”.
