Prayer Requests 12-20-12

Who would like to make a request for prayer?

This morning I just want to share this with you.

Luke 1:26-33

26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

The Greatest Gift announced to His mother.

  1. I would like to make a request for my brother Don. He recently discovered he is diabetic, like my Dad. He has now been diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy as well. He is in quite a bit of pain. Please pray for some relief, and that it doesn’t slow down his missionary work for BCM.

    Thanks,

    Allen

  2. A 29 year-old woman in my orbit married in haste last summer. Her husband killed himself on Friday. She’s a mess, of course.

A dear friend had to fly far from home by herself to arrange for her brother to be removed from life support on Tuesday. I’ve been on the phone with her, bucking her up, through it all. Very difficult.

That makes 8 spouses dead since July and at least 14 friends have lost close relatives in 2012. I’ll be happy to see the end of this year.

Please pray for L, who is desperate for prayer as she tries to cope with funeral, etc. not to mention the sheer horror.

And for R, that she can sort everything out sensibly and let go what needs to be released.

    Thanks.

  3. I have another, and it’s a praise at the same time!

My nephew Tim, Don’s son, will be preaching his first sermon Sunday night at their church. That’s exciting, but I know Tim is a bit nervous. Please pray that God would give him the words and the message He wants Tim to deliver and ease his mind, and that Tim will feel that prompting and follow it. He’s already had some practice, he helps my brother with his nursing home sermons, and has preached there. But this is his first time in a church. He’s a good kid, who loves the Lord. I’m very proud of him. And I’m very thankful that once again, God is preparing the next generation to do His work.

  5. My husband could use more prayer as more situations unfold at his workplace. I mentioned a couple days ago that one of the first-shift workers got offered my husband’s (2nd-shift) position, but had turned it down. So my husband was left wondering if they would try to fill his position (which he never said he wanted to be released from) with someone else, or if he could keep his position, or if he would be reassigned, or let go, or what, when the transition is complete January 1.

Then last night while my husband was at work, the overseer of all warehouse operations from the parent company showed up in the warehouse and was giving an orientation tour to all the people who would be the new nighttime crew. (They’re coming over from the company that the parent company of my husband’s employer bought out. My husband’s crew — he’s the night warehouse supervisor — are all being let go because they are part-time, and the parent company wants only full time employees, and the current crew is made up of college students who can’t go full time. Thus the need to hire a new night crew.)

So, anyway, you would think that if the new crew was getting oriented, you would want them to meet their supervisor (my husband), right? The man doing the orientation, who knew my husband and had worked with him on some occasions when there were new procedures to be followed in the warehouse, walked right on by my husband as if he weren’t even there. No acknowledgment of his presence whatsoever. No “Here is your immediate supervisor” or anything.

So my husband is pretty sure now that he won’t be retained in his current position, but when he cornered his boss today to ask him what exactly he will be doing in the new year (everyone else seems to know what they are going to be doing), his boss said, “Oh, we hope to know by Wednesday.” ???

My husband is very tired of the whole run-around. Today he told me before work, in a listless, resigned tone, that he didn’t care anymore what was going to happen, whether he’d be reassigned, to whatever it might be, or whether he would be fired, he said he just didn’t care.

Please pray that his spirits will be lifted, and that I will have enough stamina to be able to be a source of support and encouragement to him to the best of my ability. I am tired of not knowing what’s going on, either, and am so wanting January to be here so we can at least know his job status and not have to wonder.
