  1. Follow-up to my prayer request from December 3 regarding my husband’s employment situation. This statement that I made might need amending:

“There are potentially many changes coming effective January 1, largely unknown (though he is not in danger of losing his job) due to the company he works for having bought another company.” It’s the though he is not in danger of losing his job part that is not so certain anymore.

Yesterday, my husband found out through the grapevine (that’s the only way he hears anything, since his boss refuses to communicate with the 2nd shift “peons”, of which my husband is one) that one of the 1st shift people got offered my husband’s job. (He turned it down.) What that means for my husband, we don’t know. Same job as now in the new year? A new 2nd shift position? A change to 1st shift (and different duties)? No job?

It does no good to go to his boss to find out what his intentions are, because the man is a liar. He’ll say whatever he wants to get himself out of a pinch, and when he’s confronted with his dishonesty later when his lies are discovered, he just stares and says nothing.

My husband is a moral and upstanding man working among lazy liars, fornicators and drunkards. It is not surprising that he is looked down upon, because he is everything they are not. Which is why I wouldn’t be totally surprised if he got let go; his presence there has got to be a reminder to his boss (a church-going man!) of what true Christian manhood looks like.

Anyway, sorry so long. Prayers for my husband, that God would bring about what is best through this situation. I would appreciate prayers for myself, too, as I am having a very difficult time not having an ugly attitude toward his boss.

  2. Praying, 6arrows. Sounds a lot like my husband’s former employer. He was once told not to worry about lay-offs only to return home from a shift to find the paper was announcing lay-offs at his job of everyone. Some difficult years there, which were best handled by keeping in the Word and prayer.

I am also glad that my children were taught (in many ways, but Josh McDowell had a good seminar and book on this) that virtue is not always rewarded. I feel bad for those continually told as long as they are doing the right thing, God will make sure only good comes to them. I am really astounded anyone can read the bible and make this case, but I have heard it preached too often.

Keeping our eyes on the final prize can be difficult, but, oh, so necessary! Praying you will keep it all in perspective and God will grant you the grace and fortitude you need. Col. 1:9-12

  3. Thank you so much for your prayers, Mumsee, Michelle and Kathaleena. I was already asleep by the time my husband got home from work last night, so hearing this recent development this morning really hit me, and my stress and anger over the situation really showed up in my tone above, I can see now upon rereading my comment. Your prayers and comments are very helpful to me, though, and I want you to know how much they mean to me. Thank you, ladies.

  4. 6arrows…It’s always unsettling to us when things seem out of kilter with our husband’s job…we are nesters…we like security…
And then, there is the knowing our heavenly Father watches over our comings and goings…I pray He will give to you all the peace that passes all understanding in this situation….and that He will be glorified through it all…..blessings to you and yours 🙂

  5. Prayers for you as well, 6 arrows, we went through a horrible work situation at my husband’s place of work about 6 years ago. It is extremely hard not to bash the boss and become bitter. I pray that you will be able to listen to and be a helpmeet for your husband without your husband feeling that he is burdening you with ‘his’ problems, and that both of you will always look to God for His comfort and consistency.

God loves us. He knows what He’s doing. I will trust in Him.

  6. I’m so grateful for the community of pray-ers around here. The day has ended much better than it started. Thank you to all who prayed, whether you mentioned it or not. I appreciate every prayer.
