  1. Good morning. We set a record high for the overnight temp of 79°.

Tree work is happening nearby so it will be a loud day.

The news reported a four year old and her eleven month old sister were abducted by a babysitter last night. Praying they will be found safe. The sitter has a prior arrest for that same crime.

Hopefully that you all will have a lovely start to the week despite the heat some of us are suffering.

  2. I am often amazed to read someone’s post on a local FB thread asking for people to watch or give rides to a child. Some do say they will be checking references. Some just seem to believe anyone has the child’s welfare at heart. Then there are the instances when earlier crimes are covered up by the courts or others.

  3. Today is our 35th wedding anniversary. Where did the years go? They’ve been mostly good ones.

If I remember right, this was also Chas’s birthday. I think he’d be 95.

  4. I have not been on in a long time. We talked about all of you last week when we visited the cemetery to visit Charlie and Elvera with our granddaughters Addison and Collins Lea. It is never lost on Chuck and I that you were a life line for Charlie and he loved you all. Thank you for being his friend!!! Happy 96th Birthday to a great man!!!

  5. Thank you for checking in, Mrs. Chuck! (I’m sorry I don’t remember your name.)

We often reminisce about Charlie (Chas) here. He was such a great blessing to us.

  6. Great to hear from you, Linda! We do miss Chas very much here. He always opened up the day from the East Coast. These days it sometimes fall on the West Coast to start the conversation.

I came across the funeral program for Chas just this past week and was reviewing it with fresh eyes because in July we had to put together the funeral for my brother. Y’all had such a nice service for Chas. I am forever grateful to Kim for taking me. How wonderful it was to see all of Chas’ dear loved ones.

  7. Morning! Gonna be another hot spell in these parts! Come on Fall! 🍁

    Happy Anniversary Kevin…how’s that grandbaby?

Hi Linda. Chas was an incredible blessing to us all… and I recall he was the same age as my Mom

Sad and praying for the precious babes Janice. I too am astounded when I read posts from Mom’s looking for a random babysitter. I realize many lack support in childcare but these are our most precious gifts …😢🙏

  8. I saw that the family knew the lady for about a year so I guess they just trusted her on that. It was not someone they had no experience with, but this was the first time she had been a sitter with these girls. The older girl is missing an index and middle finger so that is pretty distinguishing. The girls both have dimples. The only call they’d received was that the lady said they’d been in an auto accident with a semi-tractor trailer but calling to hospitals they did not find them. The mom broke down in telling that.

  9. Thanks for asking about our grandson, NJ. He’s 16 months old, full of smiles and laughter, an energetic toddler. We enjoy caring for him two days a week. Mrs B and daughter KJ do most of the work while I’m “at work”, but since I work from home I get to pitch in now and then.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes too, NJ and Janice.

  10. Thank you, Kizzie and Kathaleena. As we usually do, we went to the hotel where we had our wedding reception. We had dinner at the restaurant, then walked to the reception hall and reminisced about what it looked like that day.

  11. Yes, I always remember Chas’s birthday because I have a brother exactly 40 years younger. I came close to being able to meet Chas, but my husband and I ended up moving that year, and so he didn’t go to the event that would have taken us to Chas’s hometown. But I felt like I knew him anyway.
