  1. Today is the day they name names.

“President Trump commends Elon, announces a news conference set for TOMORROW —

    — will read list of names of recipients of waste, fraud and abuse.

“I’m going to read to you some of the names that hundreds of millions and even billions of dollars have been given to.”

“I say it in front of our our attorney general. There’s no chance that there’s not kickbacks or something going on. When you give millions and millions of dollars to somebody that stands to look at something for 15 minutes and walks away with millions of dollars. That money’s coming back in some form. And that’s only one form of corruption.”

“I went through a list of 200 expenditures that were made, and I found three that looked like they were reasonable. Okay, three and, we’ll be talking about that tomorrow.”

“I want to commend Elon. He doesn’t need this. You know, he’s abused by you people every day. He’s found more things than anybody could find.””

  2. Congress is taking a look at DOGE, which should give it even more legitimacy in the courts, I think.

“The first hearing of the House Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency was held Wednesday and featured extensive discussion of the domestic and international criminal organizations stealing vast sums of taxpayer dollars from the U.S. government.
Haywood Talcove, CEO of Lexis Nexis Risk Solution, described to lawmakers the different kinds of criminals exploiting U.S. government benefits systems, pointing out that Covid relief provided a windfall of over $1 trillion to those criminal elements.

“Outdated government systems permit criminals to access unlimited sums of money. During the pandemic, they stole $1 trillion dollars, 70 percent of those dollars went overseas. Shockingly, it’s just not criminals exploiting the system, it’s the flawed system itself acting as the accomplice….”

    1. Yes, the screen shot from the tweet does say exactly what Musk says it did, but context matters. I’ve seen the entire page that the partial screen shot was from. As part of the Active Social Engineering Defense program, they are doing simulations of large scale social deception.
    2. The Thomson Corporation has decades of experience in various fields of research and analysis. Reuters News is a relatively small part of the combined Thomson Reuters organization. (I worked for Thomson before and after the 2008 merger). Thomson Reuters provides services useful to the federal government for legitimate purposes. There is no reason it shouldn’t be able to bid on contracts along with other organizations.

Musk is either knowingly or unknowingly taking a snippet of information out of context and presenting it to make it look like something it isn’t.

  3. Thank you for the context, Kevin. Without the “defense” the original didn’t make much sense (meaning you wouldn’t say it so bluntly if that is what you were being paid for).

  4. Trump’s call to Putin was a complete abject surrender. Western Europeans are comparing Hegseth and Trump to Neville Chamberlain. I’m not a fan of historical analogies and parallels but this isn’t far off.

As a real estate deal, this was worse than accepting the very first offer without negotiating. It’s giving the first offer that contains everything the seller wanted. Now the seller can ask for more. Trump gave Putin everything he asked for before negotiations even started. Putin obviously will ask for more.

  5. I’ve refrained from commenting on Musk’s activities mostly because it appears Musk is releasing fragments of information designed to inflame his audience — much the same way social media works; you get more reactions when you promote messages that increase emotions.

I also hope checks and balances kick in and the judicial branch does its job and maybe the legislative branch. Once the process starts to grind things down, I hopefully won’t have to see or hear Musk in the news.

I did catch X AE Musk telling Trump “I want you to shush your mouth”. I’ve read claims that he told Trump “to go away” and “you’re not the president” but haven’t seen this video. Amused.

  6. Concerning Ukraine, Pres. Trump is getting Russia and Ukraine to finally negotiate (similar to how he has shaken up the Gaza conversation). European leaders, who have been sitting on their hands for several years, now want to get involved?

Concerning Musk, what he is doing is simply auditing government systems. Who objects to audits? Embezzlers and thieves… that’s who objects to DOGE.
