30 relatives? Can’t even imagine that. You must have a big house!
π Went on an assignment this past week with a photographer I usually am paired with and have been in touch with — but we hadn’t been out to work together since I returned from my surgery leave.
She asked how the knee was, I gave her the most recent report.
Then she said, “But what’s that clicking sound I hear?”
Ah, I said, my keys, clipped on the strap of my bag.
π Finally got Annie Oakley in for her overdue vet check up, still waiting for blood work report but vet said everything looked OK — still, she is now 15 years old.
π¦ Still no dog.
π Still working w/2 breed rescue groups I’ve adopted from in the past — so they know me — but nothing so far, one of the challenges is a dog that won’t be a terror for my cat. I began thinking “maybe a puppy would avoid that and be the way to go … ”
But not sure I’m up for that. And even just reading descriptions of dogs available right now (none seem like a good fit), I find I’m out of practice; in the past, my 2-dog household was made up of staggered generations, so I’d lose one, adopt another, and that was something that happened probably every few years or so.
I had the last two dogs for SO long, and I find the notion of starting over with a new dog rather daunting for the first time. Do I remember how to do that ??
π A short week ahead, I’m also taking Friday off as a vacation day (we don’t get that one off as a paid holiday, really a “hard” day to drag back to work).
There was literally a physical scramble one year in my former newsroom when the vacation day signups came out, everyone wanted the day after Thanksgiving but editors only ‘allowed’ 1 reporter to be off that day. It was a race across the newsroom among the most motivated.
π Neighbor is on track for knee replacements, at long last. MRI tech told her after those images were taken the other day, “those must really hurt.” Both knees, pretty much gone. But she’s known that for years.
π A no-fuss, simple Thanksgiving again this year, 3 cousins at a restaurant, pie afterward at the one cousin’s house that’s close by the restaurant.
I’ve had a hard couple of years, personally, and I’m glad to see them winding down ? (I hope). But I am thankful for the personal growth that is already coming out of it, small things and bigger things, more to come I trust, by faith. Looking back, I’m confident I will be even more grateful for God’s unique providence, even (or maybe especially) when things are tough and sad and challenging. I’ve been here before.
Why don’t you adopt another dog for weekends for people who want to travel, DJ? Family members are having a very difficult time finding someone to watch their dog–all the young people have disappeared from our community and no one wants to house sit, or even just dog sit.
πThankful for friends who will take our dogs anytime! Unless they’ve gone somewhere which is rare.
π Puppies that sleep through the night 2 nights in a row! Let’s go for 3!
π Progress on puppy training during the day.
π Very sore back – I believe from bending constantly to put leash on or off, feeding, training, giving treats – all for the puppy.
π Next week this time we will be packing for my Christian Camp conference in Banff – we get to stay at the Banff Springs Hotel again. It’s so luxurious – something we would never be able to afford but they gave the association a really good deal during the shoulder season before ski season starts.
Also, I forgot to mention, when you’re bringing a dog to the Banff Springs, they ask how large the dog is so that they can provide the proper size bed and dishes!!!!!!!π
π¦ Only halfway done writing up my Israel notes.
π Halfway done writing up my Israel notes! (14 hours over the last two days)
π¦ 30 relatives showing up starting tomorrow.
π 30 relatives coming tomorrow!
It’s a swinging door either way. I just wish I’d had another week to prepare.
