I know you're thinking: no, *this time*, the US is waging war for good reasons, on the right side. Every war is sold that way: we're liberating Iraqis from Saddam, freeing them from Assad, freeing Libyans from Gaddafi. That's never the reason for these wars: just the pretext.
You know that we have a very sick political climate when even suggestions for diplomacy — ways to end an extremely dangerous war — are cast as treason, "appeasement," siding with the Enemy, etc. But that's always the playbook. It's why the US is a country in Endless War.
