Prayer Requests 10-8-22

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 79

A psalm of Asaph.

O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance;
    they have defiled your holy temple,
    they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble.
They have left the dead bodies of your servants
    as food for the birds of the sky,
    the flesh of your own people for the animals of the wild.
They have poured out blood like water
    all around Jerusalem,
    and there is no one to bury the dead.
We are objects of contempt to our neighbors,
    of scorn and derision to those around us.

How long, Lord? Will you be angry forever?
    How long will your jealousy burn like fire?
Pour out your wrath on the nations
    that do not acknowledge you,
   on the kingdoms
    that do not call on your name;
for they have devoured Jacob
    and devastated his homeland.

Do not hold against us the sins of past generations;
    may your mercy come quickly to meet us,
    for we are in desperate need.
Help us, God our Savior,
    for the glory of your name;
   deliver us and forgive our sins
    for your name’s sake.
10 Why should the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”

   Before our eyes, make known among the nations
    that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants.
11 May the groans of the prisoners come before you;
    with your strong arm preserve those condemned to die.
12 Pay back into the laps of our neighbors seven times
    the contempt they have hurled at you, Lord.
13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture,
    will praise you forever;
   from generation to generation
    we will proclaim your praise.

  1. Busy day here as we head out to medicate twenty one and then to Lewiston for the karate tournament, maybe to Moscow for a quick visit to help grandma with her crocheting, then home to chores.

    Meanwhile, step mom is too tired to do anything as she continues to lose weight. She was going to fold clothes from the dryer (still there) and move a load from the washer (still there) and they need to go visit grandpa at the hospital but she is just sitting in her chair.

    Wisdom on both sides of the continent.

  3. Amen.

    Thanks for your prayers for Jonathan from earlier in the week.

    He was moved to ICU yesterday, I have no other details.

    Prayer is for pain to be managed and healing.

    Thanks.

  4. Mumsee, what you said about no energy to move things from washer to dryer, or to fold clothes is where my friend, Karen, is at and she is maybe 67 y/o. She has heart failure. It is very sad to continue to see the decline. I wish things could be so much better for people who are in that physical state and for those who watch and want to help.

  5. Troubled (and dangerous) 37-year-old son from next door was walking by the front sidewalk this morning while it was still dark out, talking loudly, angrily and aggressively on the phone about his mother. So he’s still stalking the neighborhood in violation of the very strict restraining order, which is not reassuring.

    Pray for the safety of his mom, L, who must be rattled when he so frequently reappears.

  6. DJ – You can (or should) call the police every time you see him.

    I have in my purse a copy of the order of protection against X, and the case number is written down and accessible in the kitchen for if he ever crosses the line in getting too close to the house, particularly when Nightingale is home.

    That reminds me. I vaguely recall that he isn’t supposed to come close to the house even if she’s not here, but we’re unclear on that right now. We should look into that to be sure, just in case.

    Due to Boy’s weekly football game being this afternoon instead of tomorrow afternoon, X’s visitation with him will be tomorrow, and Nightingale will be working. I am wondering if there are going to be any more texts from him like last weekend.

  7. I thought of that, Kizzie (calling), but he was basically on the move, walking on the sidewalk away from the house at that point and I didn’t hear him after that. If L was up (she’s an early riser) I’m guessing she called.

  8. In agreement on the rising prayers . . . waiting for God’s best answers. Also lifting Jo for God’s softening of what feels like blows from neglectful family who may lack understanding of how to show care in the most meanongful ways. Lord, please open communication lines. IJN, Amen
