It is not cold here as my brother had said it would be . . . that will be Sunday morning when it will be down in the 40s. It is 66 in the house this morning. Very comfortable with a hooded sweatshirt I bought at Hilton Head last January. Does anyone buy souvenir t-shirts and such anymore?
What a talkative group last night. It took me awhile to catch up.
My husband just misses the cut-off to be a boomer. I mostly do not fit the profile of a boomer but am one. I have also seen a lot of criticism cutting both ways. Generalizing whole generations seems as foolish as generalizing gender or race. There are a whole lot of variations in all. I suspect a lot of the generalization is just a way to feel superior. I will generalize that we humans tend to be quite proud in that way. I resemble that remark quite often but am working against doing so. Glad we have the Word, prayer and Holy Spirit to help us.
I am pretty sure my youngest daughter buys a souvenir shirt or sweatshirt for every family member for everywhere they travel and every event they attend, Janice. I have bought souvenir socks for all my grandchildren (and some t-shirts). I also have bought t-shirts, sweatshirts, socks and hats, but not as prolifically. I have a great fall and spring jacket, which was on clearance at a souvenir shop in Alaska. I needed it when there and have worn it often. I find such items make for some great conversation starters.
Oh I have purchased a sweatshirt from airports as a memory. Sweatshirts galore from the many ultra races attended with husband…more memories. I had to hunt down a sweatshirt in Myrtle Beach when we visited 7 years ago. I finally found one at the grocery store. Every restaurant and business had their air conditioning set on freezing! So if any of y’all ever come to visit me and you get cold here in CO I have a sweatshirt ready for you!!
Good morning, all. Forty four here, as well, expecting to reach seventy three. The roosters are crowing and sky is starting to lighten but still too dark to see if it is cloudy or clear.
Red coats: mumsee has the three. One, a canvas chore coat, was purchased about fifteen years ago so I would stop tearing my clothes on barbed wire and blackberry thorns. The red fluffy but no substance coat (more of a blanket than a coat) was purchased to go over my many layers of sweatshirt, etc about twenty years ago and may get worn early fall or late spring. The third is a light weight long sleeve jacket thing I bought when going on the Nile cruise about twenty years ago. It is my coat of many colors. The entire outside is cross stitched in various colors predominately red. I wear it to church and for other light weight needs. It clearly shows that my life is not dictated by fashion. And now you know more than you ever wanted to know but you asked. My actual winter coat is a very warm bulky hand me down from husband. He got it while working the Utah Olympics as part of the team uniform from the sponser.
Lots of sweatshirts, most plain but I have one with “Iowa” and written across the front.
I tend not to buy souvenir clothing, but do have one T-shirt from Amish country in Illinois (is that contradictory, an Amish souvenir T-shirt?). I bought a jacket at a goodwill shop on that same trip when I realized the weather was going to be colder than what I’d packed for — it was short and made out of corduroy with knit cuffs, pretty sure I gave that one away a while ago.
Favorite standby jacket, aside from a faded jean jacket, is a corduroy muted/faded green jacket with faux sherpa collar I bought from Sundance more than 20 years ago.
I saw a red jacket a few years back in an ad and thought it was spiffy. I got the smaller only available size when it was on sale, and it should fit nicely this year. I also have a raspberry colored rain jacket that I am fond of. My mother had a red corderoy jacket that I loved and made good use of when in high school and beyond until it got worn out. I also have a thick cotton ribbed red cape (Coldwater Creek) that a co-worker talked me into getting at a second hand shop. She said it was perfect for Hilton Head’s beach in winter. It seems a bit cumbersome and I have thought of getting rid of it but once in awhile a mood to wear it still strikes. I have never taken it to Hilton Head😀❤
I have a number of t-shirts from various trips in the past, and of course t-shirts from the colleges/universities Wes has attended. I have a lovely rose t-shirt from a nice restaurant the says Eat Fried Green Tomatoes on the back. It was a totally needed yet unwanted t-shirt souvenir from an unforgettable time when at a Christmas luncheon I got sick, barfed, and passed out. Paramedics came and wanted to take me to a small local hospital to which I said no. My co-worker (same one with red cape) got me the shirt to put on. I think I was given a black restaurant apron to wrap up my messed up top. Why do I even keep that t-shirt?
And then there was the red wool Christmas blazer that I loved. Wesley threw up on it while in line to see Santa. It was thrown away! I got that bug/flu and was sick Christmas morning. Enough of that already!
I have heard that introverts like red because it is attention getting. The color draws attention from the wearer to the clothing. I think I liked red because of its association with Christmas and Valentine’s day.
Must admit, I hate red. You will not find any in my house or wardrobe. Seems to be mostly greens and blues.
And I’m an introvert and don’t want to draw attention
I like black for clothing. Not in a depressing way, I just like the versatility and simplicity of a black turtleneck or pullover sweater, etc. Or dark or heather gray.
Brighten it up with a long scarf or outerwear.
Royal blue has always been a good color for me, more so when my hair was a bit more red than it is now, but it still works well. Women with dark brown/black hair and blondes also look good in royal blue.
Red wasn’t a great clothing color on me due to being a redhead. But it looks great on people who are blonde or have dark (black) hair.
I like blue colors, rose, burgundy, grays, khaki, black, and turquoise. Red is occasionally worn. Once at a makeup counter I was told that I am a summer colors person.
I wear red because once, when I was about sixteen, I was wearing a red shirt and my dad said the color went well with me. A compliment from a dad can go a long way. Especially at that age!
I am a spring/summer and wear muted colors. Nothing too vibrant or bold. I am finding that more and more of my things go together as I stick to a few colors. My vest is gray and it goes with everything and provides extra warmth.
Finished getting everything out of my two filing cabinets in the basement here. I am giving away the four drawer and will keep the two drawer. I am boxing things up and then moving them to the garage at my house.
I am a winter, and was even more so before my hair turned grey. Red is my favorite color, and looks good on me, but I don’t overdo it. In fact, I wish I had more red tops. 🙂
What I have in my winter (the season, not merely for my coloring) wardrobe is several tops in various shades of maroon or dark pink. Apparently I am drawn to that kind of color and so have to focus on different colors when buying new clothes. My pants are all black, though.
I am a winter, too. My children laugh at me, because blue shades are my usual color. I have a lot of navy. The server in a restaurant we go to quite a bit would comment when I was wearing a different color. I do like red and have a red top and a red sweater. I want to look decent, but do not like a lot of attention. I am usually wearing black slacks with the red.
What’s called “marled” sweaters are I think my favorite right now, kind of a tweedy look with blends of black/blue/gray/ or other colors, subtle mix of darker and lighter colors, and subtly mixed or woven in together.
~ Marled refers to a type of novelty yarn that is created by twisting multiple plies, or strands, of different colors into a single yarn. Marled yarns are mostly used for knitted apparel but can also be found in woven textiles to create visual irregularity and a dynamic surface of moving color. ~
Good morning! Is it a kingfisher? Nice shot!

Is that a kingfisher or a woodpecker? You have to admire that tuft.

Morning all….and that bird with a Mohawk!!! 🙃
It is 44 degrees outside with a misty rain falling. Cloudy and beautiful. A perfect morning for sitting indoors and sipping coffee.

Back to PT today after the Covid interlude.

I once had a red wool coat. I loved it but husband hated it. I don’t have it any longer….

I like earth tones. Yellow looks good on me, but I don’t have much of it. It seems most of my clothes are blues and greys.

I was told I’m a “fall” color person which makes sense for my coloring.
Not fond of yellow, but warmer browns can be nice. I just don’t have many of those.
I love the combination of a muted blues with burgundy — thinking more of a sofa throw my mom bought me many moons ago but one that I still have.

Kizzie, I was thinking of you with the color red and other intense shades — as someone who could really rock that look 🙂
