Prayer Requests 8-27-22

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 40

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
    he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
    out of the mud and mire;
   he set my feet on a rock
    and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
    a hymn of praise to our God.
   Many will see and fear the Lord
    and put their trust in him.

Blessed is the one
    who trusts in the Lord,
   who does not look to the proud,
    to those who turn aside to false gods.
Many, Lord my God,
    are the wonders you have done,
    the things you planned for us.
   None can compare with you;
    were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
    they would be too many to declare.

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—
    but my ears you have opened—
    burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.
Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—
    it is written about me in the scroll.
I desire to do your will, my God;
    your law is within my heart.”

I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly;
    I do not seal my lips, Lord,
    as you know.
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
    I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.
   I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness
    from the great assembly.

11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;
    may your love and faithfulness always protect me.
12 For troubles without number surround me;
    my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
   They are more than the hairs of my head,
    and my heart fails within me.
13 Be pleased to save me, Lord;
    come quickly, Lord, to help me.

14 May all who want to take my life
    be put to shame and confusion;
   may all who desire my ruin
    be turned back in disgrace.
15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”
    be appalled at their own shame.
16 But may all who seek you
    rejoice and be glad in you;
   may those who long for your saving help always say,
    “The Lord is great!”

17 But as for me, I am poor and needy;
    may the Lord think of me.
   You are my help and my deliverer;
    you are my God, do not delay.

  1. My SIL is back in the hospital after a fall from a chair. She landed on her face and had no recollection of falling. She does live in assisted living. Pray for her spiritual and physical health.

  2. This seems more like a prayer request than anything else.
    Yes, it has been a good two years in real estate. Based on that we finally decided to buy in Pcola. Mr. P is beyond happy about it. Because the house was supposed to be finished in January/February and after talking to my lender, we made the decision to pay off Mr. P’s truck. In July we paid a large lump sum on it so that it would be paid off by the end of the year. Then comes the news that the house will be ready in November or December. Even though it will be a VA loan there will be some closing costs because we are not selling this house. I need about $15,000 to get in the house. The builder is not furnishing blinds and will only sod 5 ft around the house. We will also need to install a fence because of the dogs and at this point we will have to pay movers to move us.
    Several things have happened. A J at work asked me to co-list a house with him in AL. I thought I found a buyer but that didn’t work out. We aren’t listing it until September.
    Monday another of my agents called me, a long time customer of theirs had found a house in AL they wanted to buy. The commission would have been $15K—-answered prayer? “Thank You God”, I breathed. We couldn’t come to terms and it fell apart.
    Thursday another of my agents called. They had someone who wanted to look at that cute cottage I showed you yesterday. My commission would have been about $3,000. Once again, “Thank You God”. We were in a multiple offer situation and they chose another offer.
    Friday I went on a listing appointment that I have been cultivating for about a year. The house was built in 1952 and could be cute fixed up which they were going to do. The owner is a general contractor in another state and was going to do that so he tore out the kitchen. Now they have decided to sell it as is because it is on a double lot in town, so that limits who can buy it as a house because you cannot get a traditional loan on a house without a working kitchen. Anyone who buys it to tear down will lowball an offer and it will likely stay on the market for a while.
    I know there is a lesson in here somewhere, I just would like to know what it is.

  3. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for working out the details of Miss Bosley’s boarding. You know how critical that is for my healing after surgery. Thank You for taking care of that need.

    I lift up Kevin and his family today. Please keep him safe from the worst that Covid does at times. Let it be a mild case with no adverse effects on his other health issues. I pray for the others in the home to soon be well or not become infected if possible. Thank You for advances in treatment and for the lessening of length and severity of these newer variants. I also pray thank You that so far I have heard nothing on my Covid test which is good news for going ahead with surgery.

    Lord, I lift up the needs of Kathaleena’s SIL. She needs healing of body along with eternal salvation. I pray You will make her heart fertile soil for salvation, that seeds will be planted and take root. May she quickly decide to follow Jesus with no turning back.

    Lord, You see all the details that need to fall into place for Kim and Mr. P. Help them to be patient in the wait for provision. Please guide Kim into clear thinking and vision based on Your best plans for them. Help them to always seek You first, and to include You in each step for the Bible says, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps (Proverbs 16:9). You absolutely know best, Lord. You let lesser than best fall through and reserve Your best for the last when it looks most grim. Please help Kim and Mr. P through this time of learning to fully rely on You and not just on what they can make happen.

    Thank You, Lord, for seeing Dj through this time. Though she misses her Cowboy and Tess, I know she is grateful for the blessed years You gifted her with them. Thank You for that sweetness realized by Dj and her best doggie friends. Thank You for her good surgery results, Your provision of her physical, spiritual, and other needs to get her through to full recovery.

    Thank You, Lord, for how You are working behind the scenes in Kizzie’s life. Sometimes Your most important work is that which is undetectable. Help us to see with eyes of faith and hope visions of our loved ones saved as You would have them to be. Though they may be in bondage currently, You are totally able to break the bondage in Your timing and way. May the joy of the Lord be our strength so we continue to exhibit the Fruit of the Spirit to all who see our circumstances. Your word gives us good reason to keep hoping for a better future. The devil wants to keep us out of Your word and looking down. Help us all, including Kizzie, to stay in Your word, abiding in You, and living more Kingdom minded that earth bound. Please give Kizzie the desires of her heart as they align with Your will.

    Lord, there are so many more needs here. Please meet them all, including the needs left unmentioned. Please bring to mind to each of us Wanderers what You want us to pray for as times arise to send up a popcorn or bullet prayer.

    I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  4. Amen.
    Praying for your SIL. Unsettling for her I am sure. I pray the Lord will comfort and lead her through this season of life and that she will drawn close to Him.

    Oh Kim that makes my head swim all the ups and downs. Asking the Lord to continue to provide for you as the needs arise. He is and has been so very faithful in watching over you. Trusting Him through it all.

    Janet I pray you get some rest this weekend. Take deep breaths and rest in His care ♥️

    And keeping in mind the results coming Monday Aj…trusting Him still…..

    Kizzie any update on Janie’s care over Labor Day? Praying it will be handled as it should be….

  5. I took Little Miss to a birthday party at the Fairhoper’s Park. We got there early and she ran to one of the swings. As I walked up something shiny was on the ground. It was a cross. I picked it up. It said God Loves You. There was also one in the women’s restroom but I left that one for someone else.

  6. Kim – That (your finding that cross) made me cry happy tears for you.

    Janice – You may remember me mentioning, a few days after Chickadee’s last visit, that I had sunk into a depression. I gradually came out of that after a couple days. But even more than that, one morning sometime after that, I awoke actually feeling lighter and less burdened. I am guessing that that must have been an answer to my prayers (and others, too, of course).

    The “feeling” I had inside was that God was in control, and that whatever was gonna happen, was gonna happen – whether sooner or later. (That was in reference to the stuff that has to be dealt with around here as well as other situations in my life.) There was more of a feeling of letting go of my worries and trusting God. It really felt like God did it for me within my spirit.

    That doesn’t mean that I am all happy-g-lucky. 🙂 I still cry (literally) to God for my family’s salvation and for Chickadee’s deliverance from the delusion and deception she is under. But then I leave it in His hands and go on with my day. Praise God!

    In case anyone wonders, I still do have grief over losing Hubby. Of course, it is not as bad as in the first couple or so years. But I have noticed that as the fifth anniversary of his death approaches, I have been thinking of it all more, and crying more about it. Although Hubby died in October, it was at the end of August when he ended up in the hospital, so every late August brings up these feelings more than usual. And realizing that he has been gone nearly five years seems to be adding to the sad feelings.

  7. NancyJill – I brought it up Thursday night at dinner, and she said that she keeps forgetting to do that. She couldn’t do anything about it yesterday because she was out for the whole day with Boy.

    Today she is working, but being a weekend day, I know that she sometimes has a few moments here or there, so I sent her a FB message asking her to look into that.

    Praying that something will work out. Thanks for your prayers, and those of others.

  8. Okay, I have a theological question for y’all. (You southerners are so lucky to have such a useful term. 🙂 )

    We are told in the book of James not to be double-minded in our prayers. And yet, there are times when we pray for something, but have to realize that God may not answer that prayer the way we want, and must prepare ourselves for that possible eventuality.

    For example, although I am praying for Nightingale to be able to make that arrangement for Janie, I am also trying to prepare my heart and mind to accept it if she is not able to do that. Some might see that as being double-minded and not trusting God to answer my prayers, but I don’t see it that way.

    What do you folks think?

  9. Y’all is a great word and the equivalent for some in NC is You’ins’ Not even sure I spelled it correctly.

    Kizzie, all I know is that there are parts of the Bible that seem to contradict like predestination and free will. The one I have struggled with lately is about healing, no surprise there. A friend basically says we have healing available if we reach for it in faith without a doubt, that it is already a given for believers. But I am of the mind that because God is sovereign, it is a choice that He makes according to His good purposes. Yes, we do have healing, but it may be in the heavenly realm instead of on thr earth. There are scriptures to support both views. If one believes both can be true at the same time then that seems double-minded. But it is a mystery to me with God being the ultimate authority. I think your struggle is similar to what I am questioning because it is on the subject of healing in a sense, isn’t it? My friend who wants me to generate more faith for healing is a widow whose husband died from cancer. She is a powerful prayer warrior and knows the Bible much better than I do.

  10. Janice – I agree. And many people have been deeply hurt at the suggestion that if they “just had more faith”, then they would be healed.

    Sometimes God gives a person a gift of faith for a particular situation, and they “just know” that God will take care of it, and He does. But that is not a case of them having “better” faith than the one who wonders how God will answer a prayer – it is a gift from God.

    God did that for me one particular time when I was worrying about a seemingly unsolvable situation that desperately needed a solution. He dropped into my mind and heart the reminder that He knew exactly what was needed and would take care of it. And then, still not having any idea of how that could possible happen, I “just knew” that He would fix it. And He did. 🙂

    If someone was in a similar situation, I might share my story with them to encourage them, but I would not suggest that if they “just had more faith” then it would all work out the way they want. God deals differently with His different children.

  11. I was thinking more about the many prayers for Chickadee and that is related to healing. There is no doublemindedness that I see in your asking God for provision for Janie and acceptance with grace if it is not given at this particular time. Who knows? God may provide you with a new friend who loves dogs and will offer to dog sit when needed if you can do something in reciprocation for her.
    Is it a financial hardship for Nightingale to pay for boarding? It is quite expensive here and they won’t take animals that are not up to date on shots. I was happy when the lady said today that Miss Bosley is up to date on her shots. We took care of the 3 year rabies shot when we boarded her in Dec.

  12. Kizzie knowing me I would be searching for openings at kennels and secure a spot. Then I would let daughter know the arrangements! Around holidays kennels get booked out weeks or months ahead. Still praying she does it on her own.

    I learned a saying years ago..no expectations no disappointments. It took time to apply that when it came to my children and I am not completely there but the more I think on it the less it hurts. When we are overlooked at holidays or just basically ignored the hurt I once felt has lessened. So if someone actually does something that I had once expected of them it comes as a pleasant surprise 😊 But the more time we aren’t included with kids/grandkids the weaker the bond.

  13. James mentions doublemindedness in relation to asking God for wisdom. We can ask God for wisdom and then when He gives it, we can ignore it and go our own way. Real faith isn’t making ourselves believe God is going to answer as we desire. Our faith is in God himself. We believe He will do what is best for us, that He is compassionate and gracious, loving and kind etc. We may pray for something and find ourselves changing to realize we don’t really need it or that there is a different way of seeing something. God knows our hearts better than we do. He knows whether we are doubleminded or whether we are sincerely wanting the wisdom He longs to give us.

  14. And God, I believe, does still provide supernatural healing so we will pray still for that in our church — but we realize it’s not the “norm” of how He responds today, based on observation and experience. It happens, but more often the response isn’t in that manner. He does provide good doctors and medicine, however, though even then we know the outcome is always His.

  15. And we think of folks like Joni Eareckson Tada whose entire life may look to some as one big unanswered prayer for healing — but in truth has been an outpouring to God in what has been a unique and inspiring message to the world.

  16. I was lucky enough to hear Elizabeth Elliott speak. She said God ALWAYS answers prayers. Sometime the answer is no. Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes the answer is not yet.

  17. Janice – I am paying for Janie’s stay, so cost is not an issue for Nightingale. But I think she could probably afford it herself if she had to.

    NancyJill – Nightingale would be offended and insulted if I did that at this point. But maybe if a “next time” come around, I will inform her that I will find a place for Janie. That would work for both of us. (Why didn’t I think of that before?)

    I know what you mean about expectations and disappointment. I remind myself of that at times. I am so sorry about the situation with your family. That is so painful and sad. I pray about that for you.

    Kathleena – Thank you for that reminder about the connection with wisdom. And yes, I agree with what you said about putting our faith in God to do His will, not necessarily what we want to see.

    Often in prayer, I will tell the Lord how I think I would like to see something work out, but then acknowledge that that may not be His perfect will, and that it is indeed His will in the situation that I want. His will, not mine, be done.

    An example of that is my desire for Chickadee to move back home. I pray “if it be Your will” that she will come home, and I add that the most important thing is for her to be saved, no matter where she lives, and that if it is His will for her to stay with the McKs, or go elsewhere, so be it.

  18. Oh, hey, I almost forgot. Monday will be Boy’s first day of 6th grade. Middle school! Please pray for a good year for him, one in which he will grow in maturity and find Jesus. Also, that he will not fall into a bad crowd, but find good, decent friends (even Christian ones). Thank you.

  19. Please pray for Edsel. He recently sold all his cattle as he is getting too old to continue running the family farm where he and his sister have lived all their lives. He just found out he has tumors in his lungs. His sister, who is older, has several health issues as well. They live alone on the farm and have never married or had children. Someone from our church had visited and driven them to ER. His sister was released, but he will stay until they determine what must be done. They are both wonderful Christians who share the gospel regularly with others and are a blessing to our church.

  20. Praying for Edsel. I know that name as an Edsel Beplate was born on my birthday in the same hospital as me and I heard stories about him and how he was named after a car continued in my growing up days. The only time I can recall my folks making a personal remark about anybody.

  21. Let’s also pray for Janice’s surgery to go well tomorrow, for a quicker-than-expected recovery, and that they will get all of the cancer. And that she will have a restful afternoon and evening today, and a good night’s sleep tonight.
