It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her former students, and the people of PNG.
Anyone else?
Psalm 16
A miktam of David.
1 Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”
3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.
I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names on my lips.
5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Praising God that, without looking at the news, we can rest in the knowledge that He has things working toward His glory and it will all work out.

Amen, Mumsee! We have to keep looking from the vantage point of being God’s children and use our eyes of faith and hearts of trust in Him alone.

okay, I copied this post from a friend, a pilot and the father of one of my last students. Please pray.
It’s been a day. I was up flying when this took place so I’m overnighting away from family tonight. Please pray for Sarah and the boys while I’m away and for peace in the valley.

Papua New Guinea is conducting national elections, which take place every five years. Election-related violence has occurred in several parts of Papua New Guinea in recent weeks. SIL-PNG has monitored these situations, alerted staff, and adjusted plans as necessary.
One of the locations where election-related violence has occurred is in the Aiyura Valley, near SIL-PNG’s Ukarumpa centre. On 3 August, fighting broke out in the Valley, and continued on 4 August, affecting some of SIL-PNG’s operations. Staff working in areas of risk nearby were recalled to the Ukarumpa centre, which is currently safe, though staff are on alert.
Fighting has included the burning of houses in villages near the Ukarumpa centre and may have affected the families of local staff. SIL-PNG department managers are caring for the concerns of their staff on a case-by-case basis.
PNG Defense Forces, police, and local churches are working to stop the fighting.
SIL-PNG encourages all involved to resolve their differences legally and peacefully. Going forward, SIL-PNG will continue to monitor the local and national situation, and will adjust operations as needed to ensure the safety of staff throughout PNG.

Stephanie is hanging in there, her close friend from SF came down to stay with her — he’s been really close to Steph’s mom as well and I think lived with them for a while when he was struggling with his own. And her boyfriend also has arrived. She said there have been just a lot of memories, sharing, venting, nonstop talking, and of course a lot of tears. They’re trying to get through the administrative stuff at this point, which I remember doing as well. Such a hard time.
Continued prayers that the Holy Spirit will move.

Reading now about knee recovery *should* I “maybe” need the more complete surgery (which was never discussed & only thrown out as a possibility at the very last minute by my wonderful surgeon during his consultation last week. What?! Can you rewind that, please? We didn’t talk about this possibility before now why? Way to bury the lede).
This will be a lot more daunting should it wind up being the case.
Pray that Plan A for the much less-severe surgery will remain in place.

DJ – Funny you should use that word. Yesterday (or was it the day before?), while I was praying, I was in tears about something (although I usually cry at some point when I am praying anyway), and I sobbed, “Oh, Father, I’m such a mess!”
