Our Hill is ministering to Ukrainian refugees in Sicily–teaching them English, providing Bible studies, and joining another woman one day a week as they also learn Italian.
I would have written more, but my friend I hike with called. While on the phone with me, a dog ran into her vehicle. I felt so concerned knowing how much she loves dogs. She stopped and was out trying to keep traffic from hitting the dog again as the dog went ‘cray-cray.’. She was able to use her dog’s leash to help the dog’s owner get the dog to safety. Thankfully it appears the dog is okay. I was worried it might have been a goner when she quickly got off the phone. I was praying big time.
My friend just told me about the benefits people had received from either liquid turmeric or cucurmin? Any experience with that for inflamation? I do add turmeric and black pepper to most of what I cook. The pepper supposedly strengthens the effectiveness of turmeric.
Husband started taking turmeric years ago and it has done great things for his allergies. Passed the idea on to daughter, who was also helped. And now son, with his allergies and asthma.
For me, I take it more for inflammation because I am a sugar addict. Seems to make a difference but it needs to build up first. And my capsules include black pepper.
What a blessing to get the reward of fresh strawberries from pulling or digging up weeds. I have been scrubbing tub tile grout. My reward is that it looks better in the bathroom!
Mumsee got me started on turmeric. I take four a day for allergies and inflammation.
My friend said to be sure and put in my newsletter that I am on furlough. She was prepared to end my support and so was the missions committee. what a wake up call.
OK, looks like I’m on the final lap, for now, of getting all these forms done for the surgery. My, they don’t make it easy.
Two more forms to fill out and fax over to company headquarters in Denver today, a couple more questions for HR, one more pre-op appointment to set up with another doctor …
Actually I am taking a furlough before retiring. I have earned a furlough and have had no vacation time or 5 days of the 30 I was due, so am doing furlough before retirement.
confusing, right?
And I have my pre-surgery exercises now! No literal hoop-jumping there, but what an ordeal just to get “ready” for a surgery that’s only supposed to last about an hour.
Wes had a hitchhiking creature in his car. He brought his potted herb plants with him and that must be where it came from. A green tree frog! He found it a new home along the way. Miss Bosley would have enjoyed it as a squeak or peep toy.🐸
DJ, when is your knee surgery? I’m having surgery on my hip this Friday. I was having steroid injections for a couple of years very successfully. But suddenly they stopped working in June. I’ve had to rush the paperwork through.
Debra, my cousin had a hip replacement a few years ago, is doing great. Still, surgery, ugh.
I got the next-to-last 2 forms faxed over at Office Depot a little while ago — just waiting on the doctor’s completed form now.
My knee surgery is Aug. 17. A “partial” replacement, not the full joint replacement. Shots quit working for me, too. 😦 PT helped a lot, but after they actually did an MRI they realized the only true fix would be the partial replacement surgery. Inside of left knee is messed up. That’s not the technical term, but it’s how I describe it to cut corners. Could have been worse.
Cousin’s most embarrassing moment was the first time they got her up to walk. The pain meds didn’t agree with her so she barfed halfway through the walk down the aisle, just when our other cousin arrived. He said, “Can’t take her anywhere.”
my knee pain is a lot less now, even though I went out walking. I am thinking that during the packing and all the plane flights and then the jet lag it got a lot of rest. I was feeling like maybe I was due for a replacement. We will see.
Prayers for Debra and Dj.
Ha! My full body could use replacing and someday I’m trusting the Lord will oblige. In the meantime, I still can’t believe I get a hip replacement and go home the same day. Hopefully the partial knee replacement will go well for you DJ.
Up at 2am. Dropped Mr. P off at the airport a little before 4 am. Drove to the office, called him to stay on the phone with me while I unlocked the door and locked myself in. It’s going to be a long day.
Good morning all, including Jo.

This article reminded me of Tychicus–we should continue praying for him and others.

I read an article about taking Bergamont for blood pressure, cholesterol, metabolism, overall health. Anyone here taken/taking it?

Presumably will get the completed doctor’s form in the next day or two or by the end of the week, so I’ll have to pick that up and fax it over to HR …

And I definitely appreciate the prayer cover. I depend on prayer. God is so good, and His people are too.
