Psalm 139
For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
1 You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.
19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
20 They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
22 I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Prayer here. Visited the folks yesterday and this time took sixteen and left fourteen home for chores. Told sixteen no tv as fourteen had complicated things for the caretakers by pushing wrong buttons. Usually they are content to read from the vast array of books there. He managed to get a control and watch a sci fi horror thing that was some sort of pay per view. We are going to have him pay for it of course but this is not a one time infraction. Wisdom.

Jacob, for whom we’ve been praying, lived his ordained time of seven years on this earth and is now home with Jesus. 😥
Pray for his parents and siblings and all his loved ones. We have not heard about the nature of the accident that led to Jacob’s passing. I find myself also praying that if it came about due to someone else’s inadvertent action, that that person would know the Lord’s tender mercies.
Please pray as you are led. Thank you for your past and present prayers for Jacob’s family.

Very sad to hear about Jacob’s passing, 6. Such heartbreak. Prayers for those who have such depth of grief that no one should have to go through.

Mumsee, not sure if this might help. When Wes was younger than that, I was able to tell him that if he did not obey that there would be something in the future that he did not yet know about, that whatever it would be could only be known in the future. It would be somrthing very much wanted because it would be very special. But if he chooses to not obey in the present that he will have a definite no answer on the future request. The unknown factor, for those able to process the thought, can be a more formidable motivator than losing known priviledges.
Prayers for you to have discernment and consistency to do whatever God leads you to do.

Prayers for all to go well with dj making arrangements for surgery. May God put together the most perfect scenario for everything to go well before, during, and after surgery. May there be a simple fIx with no complications. May the results bring her back to good mobility. May she feel motivated to do all the physical therapy required. In Jesus, Amen

Thank you, Janice! Good suggestion. Son is different on how he takes things. Very instant gratification so long term completely out of his realm of worries.

I can’t imagine the pain Jacob’s loved ones are going through either. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the congregation when the pastor who was preaching today — Jacob’s uncle — announced his nephew’s passing. He started to say, “We rejoice…” but when he got to Jacob’s name, he could hardly choke it out. He struggled mightily to keep his composure during the prayers, and stopped a few times before continuing on with a heavily emotion-laden voice.
Lots of wiping of tears and blowing noses in the congregation after the prayers.
But the pain the immediate family must feel… simply unfathomable to me.
Thank you again for remembering them in your prayers, all.

Adding my prayers of asking comfort and peace that passes understanding over the anguish Jacob’s family is feeling now. Only God knows and only He can meet them where they are at on this journey through grief. We know He is a help and therefore we call to Him. Blessed are those who truly believe during such difficult times for they will receive comfort.
