Prayer Requests 11-13-21

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 97

The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
    let the distant shores rejoice.
Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
    righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Fire goes before him
    and consumes his foes on every side.
His lightning lights up the world;
    the earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
    before the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
    and all peoples see his glory.

All who worship images are put to shame,
    those who boast in idols—
    worship him, all you gods!

Zion hears and rejoices
    and the villages of Judah are glad
    because of your judgments, Lord.
For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;
    you are exalted far above all gods.
10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
    for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
    and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light shines on the righteous
    and joy on the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous,
    and praise his holy name.

  1. Kizzie, I praying for your situation and I know others do as well. As far as the influences on your daughter, I will say from what I read on Facebook, that it is a common thing to tell one another that if any person adds any discomfort to your life that you should avoid them. Sadly, in that scenario no one matures or learns to rise above. Worse, there is no glory to give to God who helps us in those situations. While there are times we sometimes may need to cut people out of our lives, they should be rare. Love does keep us in some relationships that are uncomfortable and hurtful. Sometimes we find the discomfort can be lessened or lost altogether. Sometimes it is only ourselves who change or mature and press on. I think it is important to be light and salt to those we can to point out the falseness of those memes and that teaching. Otherwise how will the younger people (like your daughter) learn it? So, I pray she finds people in her life to see the truth and help her face her fears and/or discomfort to move into a more beautiful reality.

  2. Kathaleena – Thank you.

    Yes, that is a too-common attitude these days. Not only is it bad for family relationships, but it is also bad for the person cutting off those relationships. They just don’t know it, because they think they are happy and peaceful without the relationship. But those are counterfeit feelings, not the real thing. And meanwhile, somebody else’s heart is aching.

  3. Agree that there is no growth in cutting off relationships. Sometimes it is necessary when a person Is being bullied or physically harmed in some way.

    I wonder if Chickadee were asked to bring a friend to share a treat with you, movie and dessert, etc., if having her friend along would make her feel more comfortable. Maybe even say she is “Queen for the Day” with special pampering and foods that she chooses. Maybe not a visit on Thanksgiving but a “Celebrate Chickadee Day” just because she is loved and a unique human being.

    I have been praying about it today, also.

  4. Janice – That sounds sweet, but her best friends are YA and CBF (the younger sister – Chickadee’s Best Friend). Any other friends she has are through them, or online. Inviting them would be beyond awkward, and I suspect that they wouldn’t come anyway, especially since I think they are behind Chickadee’s situation.
