Prayer Requests 8-9-21

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 7

Lord my God, I take refuge in you;
    save and deliver me from all who pursue me,
or they will tear me apart like a lion
    and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

Lord my God, if I have done this
    and there is guilt on my hands—
if I have repaid my ally with evil
    or without cause have robbed my foe—
then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;
    let him trample my life to the ground
    and make me sleep in the dust.

Arise, Lord, in your anger;
    rise up against the rage of my enemies.
    Awake, my God; decree justice.
Let the assembled peoples gather around you,
    while you sit enthroned over them on high.
Let the Lord judge the peoples.
   Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness,
    according to my integrity, O Most High.
Bring to an end the violence of the wicked
    and make the righteous secure—
   you, the righteous God
    who probes minds and hearts.

10 My shield is God Most High,
    who saves the upright in heart.
11 God is a righteous judge,
    a God who displays his wrath every day.
12 If he does not relent,
    he will sharpen his sword;
    he will bend and string his bow.
13 He has prepared his deadly weapons;
    he makes ready his flaming arrows.

14 Whoever is pregnant with evil
    conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment.
15 Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out
    falls into the pit they have made.
16 The trouble they cause recoils on them;
    their violence comes down on their own heads.

17 I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness;
    I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.

  1. Heavenly Father, Thank you for infusing strength of Your own into Idaho Mike as he deals with the vastly troubling fits of the nineteen year old. This appears to be spiritual warfare over her soul. Please, Father God, set her upright, protect her from the invasion of demons, and give her purpose and usefulness in Your earthly kingdom building plans. Please transform her so witnesses will take notice of what only You can do. You will receive all the glory for it will truly be recognized that Your strength and power had a breakthrough to a miracle in Mumsee’s home. Please, Lord, may You act in haste to deliver the nineteen year old out of the realm of demonic possession. You are able to do this in the power of Jesus’ name, You are our only hope, dear Father. Amen

  2. My daughter, her college roommate, and 8 others from our church head to Nicaragua for the church’s eyeglass ministry on Wednesday.

    They’re all getting COVID tests today and will be carrying several thousand masks, as well as glasses, Bibles, and children’s toys to Central America.

    CR, my daughter, is a little concerned about their ability to fit the new glasses (because of the masks), is unclear if people have been wearing masks, and asks we pray for health and safety for all–missionaries and patients.

  3. Janice – Something I sometimes pray for X is that God would change his life and behavior so much that people who will know him in the future will have a hard time believing that he could ever have been the way he is now.

    That is how we felt about Burt, a dear friend from my old church. When we knew him, he was a good Christian man – on the church board, a Sunday school teacher, and just an all-around good guy, loving husband and loving father. It was surprising, to say the least, to hear his testimony of having been on drugs and an alcoholic, and kind of a hippy, and that he had once threatened his wife with a knife shortly after she was saved and trying to talk to him about Jesus.

    He awoke one morning with a hangover from the night before. He was facedown on his living room carpet, and his two little sons were looking down at him, wondering what was wrong with Daddy. That is the moment when he decided he had to change, and he turned to Jesus.

    Burt went to be with the Lord five years before Hubby. I still miss him when I think of him.

    May God do a similar thing – or a whole ‘nuther amazing thing – in X’s life, and in 19-year old’s life, too.

  4. Prayer for my dad and step mom. They have agreed to get the vaccine. First time out of the house for him in months, for her in years. He is ninety two, she is ninety eight.

  5. Prayers for your daughter, Michelle. And her group and the patients. So much more to consider these days.

    Please keep Wesley in prayer as he gets established in his new location. Please ask God to help him as he integrates faith and learning in his classes which is a major goal in Christian colleges. Pray for him to find a good church, too. Thanks.

    My arm is being twisted on tbe vaccine, and I am about to shout out “Uncle Sam!” I was trying to hold out for the Novavax, but they keep pushing back the timeframe for approval. Decision as to which to take is not easy.

  6. Oh, yes, Janice, that’s how I feel, too (that God working in X would be for Boy’s sake as well).

    When I prayed for Wesley, I also prayed that he would make some good Christian friends in his new area.
