  1. Biased, untruthful, and undeserving of the nation’s trust.

    That’s our media.

“How the Media Crafted False ‘Trump Tear-Gassed Protesters for a Photo Op’ Narrative”

“We wrote yesterday on how Inspector General Mark Lee Greenblatt revealed the findings from an extensive review his office did of the Lafayette Park clearing that took place last year on June 1st, the day after the historic St. John’s Church in Washington, D.C. was set on fire by Antifa/BLM-led rioters.

For those who missed it, the report released by the IG directly contradicted the volumes of media reports that claimed President Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr had the park forcibly cleared and demonstrators “tear-gassed” so Trump could stage a “photo op” walk from the White House, where he had just given a speech denouncing rioting, to St. John’s Church.

    From the summary:

We found that the USPP had the authority and discretion to clear Lafayette Park and the surrounding areas on June 1. The evidence we obtained did not support a finding that the USPP cleared the park to allow the President to survey the damage and walk to St. John’s Church. Instead, the evidence we reviewed showed that the USPP cleared the park to allow the contractor to safely install the antiscale fencing in response to destruction of property and injury to officers occurring on May 30 and 31. Further, the evidence showed that the USPP did not know about the President’s potential movement until mid- to late afternoon on June 1—hours after it had begun developing its operational plan and the fencing contractor had arrived in the park.”

“I should point out that the media and Democrats frequently echoed each other during the Trump years on numerous “reports” that turned out to be false, including the fake Russia bounties story, the fake “Trump called fallen soldiers ‘losers and suckers’” report, the Russia collusion hoax, and the false accusation that Trump incited supporters to “murder” Capitol Police officers on January 6th.

Trust in the media is at an all-time low for a reason, primarily because people can’t tell the difference between what journalists report and what Democrats claim anymore. Their agendas all too frequently mesh, and that is not a coincidence.”

  2. Joe’s probably jealous of his pal Xi because he can’t round up his political enemies like this. At least not yet, but they are working on it.

“Amnesty: China has created ‘a dystopian hellscape’ in Xinjiang”

“If you’ve paid any attention to this story over the past year then you already know what China is doing in Xinjiang. Still it’s good see reminders get a little attention in the media. The BBC describes a new report from Amnesty International about the conditions inside and outside the camps:

In a report published on Thursday, Amnesty called on the UN to investigate, and said China had subjected Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and other Muslims to mass detention, surveillance, and torture.

Agnès Callamard, the secretary general of Amnesty International, accused Chinese authorities of creating “a dystopian hellscape on a staggering scale”.

“It should shock the conscience of humanity that massive numbers of people have been subjected to brainwashing, torture and other degrading treatment in internment camps, while millions more live in fear amid a vast surveillance apparatus,” Ms Callamard said.

The full report is 160 pages long. I haven’t read the entire thing but here are a few excerpts. First, from the executive summary, comes the conclusion that the CCP is guilty of crimes against humanity:

According to the evidence Amnesty International has gathered, corroborated by other reliable sources, members of predominantly Muslim ethnic minorities in Xinjiang have been subjected to an attack meeting all the contextual elements of crimes against humanity under international law. The evidence Amnesty has seen therefore provides a factual basis for the conclusion that the perpetrators, acting on behalf of the Chinese state, have carried out a widespread and systematic attack consisting of a planned, massive, organized, and systematic pattern of serious violations directed at the civilian population in Xinjiang. Amnesty International believes the evidence it has collected provides a factual basis for the conclusion that the Chinese government has committed at least the following crimes against humanity: imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty in violation of fundamental rules of international law; torture; and persecution.

Further into the report we get some details. This section talks about the ways in which Islam has been effectively made illegal to the point that the government was re-naming babies:”

“Of course things were much worse for those taken to the camps. They were taken away from their lives, interrogated by police and then brought to camps, usually without any explanation as to why they were being taken there. The conditions were worse than prison.

At 6am they let us go out one by one to wash and use the toilet… There was a bucket in the cell… Even in the morning there was no guarantee we’ll be let out [to use the toilet]. Sometimes we went 24 hours without being allowed to use the toilet… The bucket was for [urinating]; if you had to [defecate] then you had to use the intercom and they would send two guards… and then you went out under the chain. Here you had to squat and put hands on head [when you exited the cell]… the process was like in a prison.

Even sleeping sounds like a nightmare:

The lights [in the cell] were always on. At 10pm we had to lie in bed. Two cellmates were on night watch. From 10 to 12, 12 to 2, 2 to 4, and 4 to 6… these two people are [always] walking between the window and the door. Their job was watching us. At night we had to sleep with head facing the camera and face uncovered. And, if not, they woke us and put us in the right position.

China continues to claim these prisons are just vocational schools. It’s true there was some education going on but it was not vocational, it was political indoctrination:”

  3. Your taxpayer dollars, funding tomorrow’s terrorists today.

These NGO’s are a joke. They’re just money laundering operations for funding terrorists.

    USAID is complicit.

“Report: U.S.-Funded Palestinian NGOs Introduced Children to Terrorists, Glorified Violence

U.S.-funded NGO linked to PFLP terrorist group “ran a program that arranged meetings between teenagers and convicted Palestinian terrorists.”

“Palestinian NGOs diverted millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to organizations and charities linked to Palestinian terrorist organizations, a recent report by the Jerusalem-based watchdog group NGO Monitor revealed.

Palestinian NGOs spent U.S. tax dollars to organize events and programs that “introduced children to convicted terrorists, presented convicted terrorists as role models, and publicly demonstrated support for terrorists and terrorist organizations,” The NGO Monitor report released on Wednesday found.

USAID, the U.S. international development agency responsible for distributing these funds, failed to carry out the necessary due diligence before handing over vast sums of money to Palestinian NGOs, the report said. In addition, the study pointed to “deficiencies in USAID’s anti-terror vetting,” showing how NGOs with known links to terrorist groups were able to get their hands on U.S. funds.

One of the NGOs cited in the report is “Juzoor.” The organization has ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a U.S.-designated terrorist group. “The massive funding to Juzoor is a prime example of how terror-promoting actors can receive US government funding when vetting is insufficiently robust and effective,” the report says. (Read the full report here.)

Palestinian NGO Juzoor for Health and Social Development received millions of dollars as a sub-grantee on USAID-funded projects during the period reviewed in the GAO audit. Both prior to and during the grant period, Juzoor ran a program that arranged meetings between teenagers and convicted Palestinian terrorists; in addition, its staff members glorified violence against Israelis. (…)

In at least 2007-2014, Juzoor maintained a Jerusalem Youth Parliament (JYP), “…designed to actively engage young Jerusalemite Palestinians ages 12 to 17 (as well as their parents and teachers) in active citizenship and to raise awareness of their Palestinian identity.” (…)

JYP hosted events with convicted terrorists, members of the US-designated terrorist organization the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), and their families, and held pro-BDS and anti-normalization activities for children. (…)

In addition to introducing children to PFLP terrorists, JYP staff also utilized social media to celebrate PFLP terrorists and promote the organization, while the NGO was receiving US funds.

The report cites two other recipients that got millions of dollars in U.S. aid:

The International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) is a US-based organization that received $14.4 million in 2013-2017 from USAID. In implementing this youth focused grant, IREX contracted with multiple sub-grantees, many of which glorified violence and expressed support for convicted terrorists – both prior to and during the grant period. (…)

USAID is currently providing $24.5 million to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for its 2016-2022 “Envision Gaza, 2020” program. In this context, CRS has partnered with several sub-grantees, including those that celebrate Palestinian terrorists.
The report highlights the failure of the U.S. foreign aid agency in conducting even the most basic vetting of its Palestinian NGOs:”

“From Beans to Burgers, Food Is Getting More Expensive
Chipotle, Shake Shack and Piggly Wiggly are all raising prices to cover higher costs”

“Soup, Spam and Shake Shack burgers are all getting more expensive as food companies pass along higher costs to consumers.

General Mills Inc., Campbell Soup Co. , Unilever PLC, and J.M. Smucker Co. are among food makers raising prices at supermarkets. Restaurants including Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. and Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. have raised menu prices. Executives say they expect more price increases this summer as costs remain elevated for labor, commodities and transport.

“We’re in a period of unprecedented commodity inflation,” Unilever Chief Executive Officer Alan Jope told investors Monday. He said Unilever would recover some of those costs in part by selling smaller packages of some foods at the same price as a larger size.

Higher prices on grocery-store shelves and restaurant menus are part of a broader rise in inflation. U.S. consumer prices surged 5% in May from a year ago to reach the highest annual inflation rate in nearly 13 years.

More expensive used cars and trucks fueled the increase, according to Labor Department data, and prices for furniture and airfare also jumped. Food prices are rising because of the higher costs for labor and transport but also ingredients including corn, soybean oil and wheat. Rising meat prices got another bump up last week when a ransomware attack briefly knocked offline JBS SA plants that process nearly a quarter of U.S. beef and a fifth of chicken and pork.”

  10. How does “birthing person” fit with adoption? Do school children who are encouraged to call their moms “birthing person” have to change it to “non-birthing, adopting person” if their mom has adopted them? And what do we call grandmothers? “birthing parent of birthing person”?
