Prayer Requests 5-13-21

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 90

A prayer of Moses the man of God.

Lord, you have been our dwelling place
    throughout all generations.
Before the mountains were born
    or you brought forth the whole world,
    from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

You turn people back to dust,
    saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”
A thousand years in your sight
    are like a day that has just gone by,
    or like a watch in the night.
Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death—
    they are like the new grass of the morning:
In the morning it springs up new,
    but by evening it is dry and withered.

We are consumed by your anger
    and terrified by your indignation.
You have set our iniquities before you,
    our secret sins in the light of your presence.
All our days pass away under your wrath;
    we finish our years with a moan.
10 Our days may come to seventy years,
    or eighty, if our strength endures;
   yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow,
    for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
11 If only we knew the power of your anger!
    Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due.
12 Teach us to number our days,
    that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

13 Relent, Lord! How long will it be?
    Have compassion on your servants.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
    that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    for as many years as we have seen trouble.
16 May your deeds be shown to your servants,
    your splendor to their children.

17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
    establish the work of our hands for us—
    yes, establish the work of our hands.

  1. I have a few requests today.

    Please pray that Nightingale’s union will not strike. It is coming down to the wire, and has not been looking good. (Although the last report I read seemed a little more hopeful.)

    Please pray that a tooth problem I am beginning to feel will not progress past this point until I can get new insurance. Right now, it is merely a slight ache that comes and goes, and is not really even what could be considered painful, but I have enough experience with dental problems to know that it could get very painful very quickly. I’ve had aches that came and went over a long period of time and never got horrible, but I’ve also had the aches that did get horrible before I could get in to see a dentist.

    Speaking of insurance, I am going to have to navigate the state’s health insurance portal – first to cancel my state insurance, and then to sign up for a plan. From the experience I have had with this site in the past, I know that it is not very user-friendly, so please pray that I will have the presence of mind to figure out what to do. Also, if I end up needing to make a call (which I suspect I will, that I will get someone whom I can hear and understand well.

    And last but not least, the above situations have had me feeling a lot of anxiety in the pit of my stomach, to the point of feeling almost sick. Please pray for calm and peace in my heart and mind as I take care of these situations. Thank you.

    Needless to say, I am praying for Debra and Cyrus, as we all are. Pleading with God for a miracle.

  2. Thanks for the prayers. I was able to do everything online, and although there were a couple or so parts that confused me, I was able to figure them out eventually. Fortunately, the site has a “Back” button, so if I realized that I’d made a mistake on the previous page, I could go back and make changes. And it turns out that I am still eligible for the state insurance, which surprised but relieved me.

    My tooth has been feeling better, too. But when I get my new insurance card, I will get in to the dentist pretty quick.

  3. Nightingale informs me that the strike has been postponed until sometime in the beginning of June, and that negotiations are still ongoing.

  4. Five years ago today our beautiful Annika was born prematurely with Down Syndrome and several complications. Today she was very excited to be sharing popsicals with her class at school in honor of her birthday. So many prayed for her. We are so grateful and blessed.

  5. Aw, sweet, Kathaleena. 🙂 I saw popsicle molds at Target tonight when I was shopping for birthday presents, and almost bought a set for the birthday daughter who is a mom herself.

    Good reports, Kizzie, I’m glad to hear.

    Debra, praying you’re able to get some rest these days. That’s one of my (Six) prayers for you in the evenings / at night.
