It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.
Anyone else?
Psalm 85
1 You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people
and covered all their sins.
3 You set aside all your wrath
and turned from your fierce anger.
4 Restore us again, God our Savior,
and put away your displeasure toward us.
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your unfailing love, Lord,
and grant us your salvation.
8 I will listen to what God the Lord says;
he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—
but let them not turn to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.
10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
and righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 The Lord will indeed give what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.
13 Righteousness goes before him
and prepares the way for his steps.
The new pastor is coming for dinner tonight–outside.
We haven’t had anyone but family here for dinner in over 17 months. I can’t believe I’m nervous–about cooking skills.
To make it interesting, I invited a man we’ve known for 20 years and his bride. Because of, you know, we haven’t had an opportunity to sit and talk with the couple since their wedding in September 2019.
Despite being a Sunday School teacher for 20+ years, he’s become cynical and unhappy with our church. We love him–I’ve described some of his Jobesque experiences over the last 6 years and asked for prayer for him–and so I thought it would be good for him to meet the new guy.
(What a social plus! One of the first church members to have dinner with the new pastor!)
The new pastor is a big-hearted, very kind, good-tempered man (his family hasn’t moved yet).
My prayer is that the two would hit it off. The new pastor is very different from the former pastors, but he could be the one to reach past our friend’s so-broken heart.
(New wife, BTW, is terrific!)

Really hopeful for a breakthrough, Michelle.
Please pray for my friend, Karen. I think her health is deteriorating. It’s sad they had to extend their lease because they could not find the right situation to buy in this market since they have so many special requirements given their age and health issues.
Praise that Wesley finally got to walk in the graduation ceremony yesterday. He has one interview scheduled within the next week for a potential one year position.

Red flag warning for the weekend. Spotter planes are already up.
It’s four months earlier than ever before.

LOL. It actually starts at 11 and runs through Sunday . . . dinner went well. The new pastor is an excellent listener–and that’s what our friend needed. Our friend also was astounded, ASTOUNDED, that the new pastor could match him on old bands and their music. 🙂
