Prayer Requests 4-30-21

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 79

A psalm of Asaph.

O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance;
    they have defiled your holy temple,
    they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble.
They have left the dead bodies of your servants
    as food for the birds of the sky,
    the flesh of your own people for the animals of the wild.
They have poured out blood like water
    all around Jerusalem,
    and there is no one to bury the dead.
We are objects of contempt to our neighbors,
    of scorn and derision to those around us.

How long, Lord? Will you be angry forever?
    How long will your jealousy burn like fire?
Pour out your wrath on the nations
    that do not acknowledge you,
   on the kingdoms
    that do not call on your name;
for they have devoured Jacob
    and devastated his homeland.

Do not hold against us the sins of past generations;
    may your mercy come quickly to meet us,
    for we are in desperate need.
Help us, God our Savior,
    for the glory of your name;
   deliver us and forgive our sins
    for your name’s sake.
10 Why should the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”

   Before our eyes, make known among the nations
    that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants.
11 May the groans of the prisoners come before you;
    with your strong arm preserve those condemned to die.
12 Pay back into the laps of our neighbors seven times
    the contempt they have hurled at you, Lord.
13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture,
    will praise you forever;
   from generation to generation
    we will proclaim your praise.

  1. V. 8 says, “Do not hold against us the sins of past generations”.
    Unfortunately, that’s the way it works.
    Our children will pay for the mess we are making now.

  2. Chas, the future generations will face consequences from current bad decisions, but the Psalm is regarding the sins of former generations not being able to send future generations to eternal hell. Hell on earth is short term compared to eternal hell.
    As I keep telling my friend, Karen, there is no need to dwell on what we can do nothing about except to pray about it and praise God that He has overcome the world. If we spend all our time caught up in the negative then we are not helping others feel the uplifting power of God. My friend yesterday was crying over all those waiting for cremation in India because of Covid and all the elephants being killed for their tusks. We can’t do a thing about that. Except pray and know that God has overcome the world. My friend is in her 60s and has heart failure. She needs to get her thoughts on better things. What can I do for her? Pray.

  3. Prayer for nineteen year old. She is off to her first shift at work today. If she can do it, great. If not, let it be known fairly soon.

    The background: For years, she has been working through the government dev dis work process. First they say she cannot be hired, then at a simple facility, then lots of jobs. or maybe none or maybe at the special facility. But still no job and a continual turnover of managers of the program, constantly changing expectations and requirements. Yesterday, she and husband stopped by the grocery store in Grangeville and she asked for an application. The manager was there, asked to interview her then, and hired her on the spot, as a regular employee. She will be working in the deli. This could be wonderful for her.

  4. Yesterday afternoon I sent Chickadee my almost-weekly text. In this one, I mentioned Mother’s Day, and that Nightingale will be working that day but we will be doing something on one of her days off the following week, and asked Chickadee to join us. I have been hoping and praying that the thought of Mother’s Day coming up would prick her heart, and that her love for me would overcome whatever influence is keeping her from being in communication with me. Please pray along with me.

    Also, I realize that there is the possibility that she has blocked my texts on her phone. So for that I am praying that if she has, she will be spurred – even by mere curiosity – to unblock me to see what I may have texted. Please pray about that, too. Thank you.

    Speaking of Mother’s Day, Nightingale suggested this morning that since Chickadee will not be with us (as she is assuming, but I am hoping and praying will not be the case), we should have a “Girls’ Day Out” on the Tuesday she has off after Mother’s Day – pedicures, shopping, getting a bite to eat. That is sweet of her.

  5. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to minister to Nightingale tonight. She is feeling very, very stressed and anxious over some very tough things in her life, and is feeling quite discouraged. She cried when she was talking to me, which is unlike her. She needs Jesus!

  6. Well, now I’m the one who woke up in the middle of the night praying for all my prayer partners here. And there is always plenty to pray for.

    It’s been a good few days here. C is out of icu and progressing rapidly. I thought he would come home in a month with a wheelchair and oxygen tank. But at least one of his doctors (the Christian) believes he can be discharged in a couple of weeks without either of those things!
    God is being so merciful to us. All of you faithful pray-ers have held me together. Even those business affairs I was struggling with have seemed to be mostly resolved–at least for now.

    N had told me he needs to test negative before he returns to his family. However, I was told I would test positive for quite some time, even though not infectious. So I’m not sure how that’s working where he is. He’s not posted in a few days. He said he’d let me know when he’s back home.

  7. Oh Debra that brings tears to my eyes!! Praising our Lord for his mercies new every morning! ♥️
    Our neighbor had Covid late last Fall….it hit him hard. He got the shot last month then his second. He became deathly ill and tested positive after the second shot….he is now on the road to recovery but it has been a scary ride … he held fast to our Lord through it all…
