Prayer Requests 9-26-20

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
   according to your great compassion
    blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
    and cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my transgressions,
    and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
    and done what is evil in your sight;
   so you are right in your verdict
    and justified when you judge.
Surely I was sinful at birth,
    sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
    you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
    wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
    and blot out all my iniquity.

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
    or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
    and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
    so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
    you who are God my Savior,
    and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
    and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
    you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
    a broken and contrite heart
    you, God, will not despise.

18 May it please you to prosper Zion,
    to build up the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous,
    in burnt offerings offered whole;
    then bulls will be offered on your altar.

  1. Baby Niece has been sick all week. They went to the pediatrician Thursday. Thursday night her fever spiked and they ended up in the ER. Yesterday they went back to the pediatrician and were sent to the hospital overnight. She has E.Coli and salmonella. It either came into the house on the dogs paws or on the fruits and vegetables her Mommy buys to make homemade baby food. Either way it’s scary. Her grandmother is going over to clean the house from top to bottom this morning. There is nothing like a Cotten Clean House.

  2. Sad to hear, Kim. I had a friend whose child got salmonella from apples. She is very careful now when washing fruits and vegies. I am glad they could pinpoint the issue, however.

  3. Prayer for our nation and the upcoming election; that Christians will remember our first, foremost and eternal allegiance, which is not to any political candidate or party or partisan cause; that political leaders are in their positions by God’s will, whether that be as an instrument of blessing or judgement.

  4. Please pray the anticipated high winds do not come up, particularly tonight. Fire chief passed on a warning to my colleague (a firefighter’s wife who lives in our neighborhood), to be prepared with bags packed tonight. If the winds blow up tonight, they’re not sure they can hold the line.

    Winds are slated to be from the north-northeast–or directly at us. The hillside that stretches for miles east northeast 1.5 blocks from our house hasn’t burned in 50 years. It’s pretty much rural and through state parks over the hills to the Napa Valley where the fire is burning. About fifteen miles away.

    All we can do is pray and, in my case, scan photos all afternoon. I emailed my manuscript and proposal, everything else is in the cloud and if it burns, it burns.

    I hope I’m being over-anxious. 🙂

    After Sunday School we head to the two-year-old’s birthday party. I need to be calm and charming. I guess that’s another prayer. Projected temperature today: 101 degrees. Air is currently not healthy for the ailing and headed up. 😦

    Thanks.

  5. Prayers, Michelle.

    There have been troubling signs this week, showing how badly both of my parents are in decline. Too much to report, even just the things that happened this weekend alone. I could write pages, but it’s so heartbreaking to me and my siblings, I’ll simply ask you to pray without details.

    Thank you.

  6. Yes, Glass Fire.

    Just back from Adoable’s #2 birthday party. While we were there the sky turned brown and light ash is falling. My Adorables all together are very loud. I didn’t sleep well yet again last night and am so weary–of everything.

    Winds have not picked up yet, but it’s only 4:45. I’m taking the rest of the day off to veg and maybe watch a silly movie. I should be scanning, but I’m at the point I don’t care if it all burns.

    Mr. Statistics had me wear his fitbit the last two nights. He was triumphant yesterday morning–exhausted, I’d gone to be about 7 pm and stayed in bed for 12 hours. I got eight total hours of sleep. “See?”

    This morning, after a more typical bad night, he called me in, sober. Less than three hours “light sleep” only 80 minutes of deep sleep.That may be why I feel so wasted today–and of course, it’s hot, ash in the air, smokey . . . and so on. Could you pray for:

    * No catastrophic wind
    * A good night’s rest
    *An answer to all of my maladies–which have been building and which I, frankly, think have a spiritual root.

    Thanks.

  7. Praying Michelle. And Six. And DJ. And Kim. Neat that we can post our prayer concerns here and know that people will drop by throughout the day to lift us up. And if people let us down, God does not.

  8. My family has evacuated to son’s house—just like 3 years ago.

    Winds have NOT materialized as feared, Thanks be to God.

    Unnerving.

    But, God is good and we trust Him.

    I don’t sleep, anyway.
