  1. Out: Murder Hornets

    In: Jumping Earthworms

It’s 2020, we should have expected this. 🙂

“Let’s just skip past the usual 2020 apocalypse bingo card jokes and get on with the next bizarre infestation reaching our shores. And like so many other recent stories, this one originated in Asia also, potentially from China. Many of the earlier threats were of the winged variety, whether they be billions of locusts in Africa (that will no doubt be showing up in North America any day now) or the ever-popular Murder Hornets, they all represented terror from the skies, right? But how about terror from under the ground?

This time it’s worms. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking. How scary can worms be? And what sort of threats could they possibly pose? Well, for one thing, these worms are half a foot long and they’re capable of jumping up into the air. And no… I’m not even making this up. They’ve shown up in western New York State (the more rural portion) and biologists are concerned that they may be wiping out the leaf beds in the forests. (WCPO News)

University at Buffalo earthworm expert Nick Henshue says Amynthas, invasive “jumping” earthworms with destructive potential, are appearing in the Western New York area.

The earthworms live in the top few inches of soil, can grow to about the length of a pencil and gobble up fallen leaves that experts say play a vital role in forest ecosystems.

Henshue believes the invasive earthworms may have been transported to the area in part via contaminated mulch.

“In agricultural systems, earthworms can be great, but in forests in our area, these jumping worms reduce leaf litter, which is really a protective layer that we rely on to protect and hide seeds and keep the sun off newly germinating plants,” Henshue said.

So how did these things show up in New York? One idea very appropriate to the whole 2020 apocalypse theme immediately popped up from one of my followers when I mentioned this on Twitter earlier today, so I really can’t take credit for it.”

  2. Siri, explain to this clueless lady (and about a thousand others) how gardens work…..

  3. Good. They could use it, especially since Congress is in recess and they don’t seem in any hurry to help out suffering Americans.

“Trump says he will add $1 bln to food for families program”

“President Donald Trump said on Monday his administration would provide an additional $1 billion to a program that provides food to American families dealing with the economic hardship from the coronavirus pandemic.

The Farmers to Families Food Box program is one of several government efforts to help struggling Americans. It aims to buy food from farmers who typically produced for restaurants but lost business because of coronavirus-related shutdowns, and deliver it to the millions of people who were thrown out of work or were otherwise hurt by the pandemic.

“Today I am proud to announce that we will provide an additional one billion dollars to fund the Farmers to Families Food Box program,” Trump said during an visit to a North Carolina food packing plant.”

  4. Great. 🙄

“Uh Oh. Hong Kong Reports First Confirmed Case Of Man Infected With COVID For A Second Time”

“I have the feeling that this news may wind up slamming the brakes on a lot of the optimism about vaccines and new COVID-19 treatments that have been making the rounds lately. Doctors at the University of Hong Kong have concluded that a patient who was confirmed as being infected with the novel coronavirus and mildly symptomatic back in March came down with the disease for a second time this month. There are some complicating factors in his story that will likely need to be taken into consideration, but the overall message from that medical center is clear. If you can survive the disease once and then catch it again in that short of a period of time, it sticks a major pin in the entire plan we have for combatting this plague, whether you’re counting on herd immunity, a viable vaccine or anything else. (NBC News)

A man in Hong Kong has become the first confirmed patient to be infected with the coronavirus a second time, according to researchers at the University of Hong Kong.

The finding suggests that some patients who recover from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, may have only short-lived immunity from reinfection. The case will likely also be significant for scientists who have been working on treatments using antibodies from recovered coronavirus patients, and those who have been scrambling to develop a safe and effective vaccine.

The 33-year-old man in Hong Kong developed mild symptoms in late March when he was first diagnosed with COVID-19, the researchers at the University of Hong Kong wrote in a study that has been accepted for publication by the medical journal Clinical Infectious Diseases. The patient was hospitalized March 29, but his symptoms subsided and he was discharged April 14, according to the study.

We’ve heard rumors of this before, but they frequently involved people who were asymptomatic but produced a positive result when being tested. Given the high number of false positives we’ve seen with certain test kits, it was still entirely possible that the infected patients hadn’t actually had the disease originally, so there was reason to be optimistic about a future vaccine. That’s not the case with this man. He developed symptoms and tested positive on multiple checks. So he now appears to have contracted COVID twice.”

  5. Sorry Kamala, but this is not the “moderate” position.

“Americans React To Kamala Harris’s Call For Post-20 Week Abortions With Pictures Of Their 20-Week-Olds”

“People are sharing photos of their children at 20 weeks gestation after a tweet from Sen. Kamala Harris in 2018 resurfaced, in which she advocated against a ban on abortions past 20 weeks.”

Many people tweeted photos and sonograms of their children at 2o weeks old gestation or earlier, denouncing Harris’s pro-abortion platform and call for a ban.”

  6. The landslide agenda?

“Sunday afternoon, the Trump campaign put out a press release containing bullet points of the second-term agenda he’ll run on. It feels like it’s late in the game for him to do that, perhaps, but on the other hand this week is the opening of the Republican convention — so sure, the timing for the agenda makes sense.

It’s been said repeatedly that Trump can’t just wait around for Joe Biden to implode — though the chances aren’t terrible that Biden will do just that, given his 100 percent propensity to vaporize as a presidential candidate in the past and his current suspect capacity with respect to what’s inside his cranium. Trump needs something to run on beyond funny tweets and the fact he’s neither Antifa nor Bill de Blasio. Americans don’t want to vote for the Hard Left despite what the legacy media might have you believe, and it’s pretty clear they don’t really want to vote for Biden either. But given that Biden’s entire pitch is that he isn’t Trump — the Democrats’ agenda is so out of touch with the American people they’re denying a lot of it even exists, as evidenced by their constant insistence that “redirecting” funds from police is not the same as “defunding” the police — having something people would like to see happen in the next four years is the best way for Trump to win over voters who aren’t as amused as the rest of us are by his style.

The agenda is entitled “Fighting for You!” and the campaign describes it thusly:

President Trump’s boundless optimism and certainty in America’s greatness is reflected in his second-term goals and stands in stark contrast to the gloomy vision of America projected by Joe Biden and Democrats.

What’s noticeable about it is that Trump’s agenda isn’t really all that ideological. It’s more like a performance agenda, which talks about things people on the center-right would like to see.

For example, under “JOBS,” Trump says he wants to create 10 million new jobs in the first 10 months of his second term, which is fairly robust, but it’s really just a question of getting the country over the recession caused by the COVID-19 shutdowns. It’s probably jazzier to throw out a number than to dredge up the virus again. He also says he wants to create a million small businesses. The “JOBS” section talks about cutting taxes to boost take-home pay, which probably means payroll tax cuts, and it talks about fair trade and “Made in America” tax cuts. Opportunity zones return in the agenda, and Trump also throws in a line about deregulation, particularly with respect to energy — which is obviously a bright-line difference from the nutty Green New Deal narrative the Biden camp is spinning. Watch for Trump to hammer away at Biden’s envirolunacy in Ohio and Pennsylvania with that contrast.

COVID-19 is, of course, on the agenda, and it seems pretty clear that Trump will be as bold in touting his administration’s record on the virus as the Democrats are in trashing it. Nevertheless, the agenda talks about developing a vaccine by the end of 2020, which would be even before his second term begins, and promises a “Return to Normal in 2021,” which sets up another interesting contrast. Biden has made a nationwide indoor/outdoor mask mandate a front-and-center campaign item, so Trump talking about normalcy will set him up as the Anti-Karen candidate. There is some risk to that given how hysterical so much of the populace is and what the media will do to the idea of “normal” being on the table in this election. The agenda also talks about domestic production of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, and about refilling stockpiles — something Team Trump will no doubt continuously ding Biden for botching when it was his job to manage that problem as vice president in the previous administration.

There’s a section on ending America’s reliance on China, something that needed to be in the agenda given that Trump will surely make Biden’s cozy/corrupt relationship with the Chinese Communist Party a key issue in the campaign. Team Trump has a line in this section about holding China fully accountable for allowing COVID-19 to spread globally, and there is another line promising to ban companies outsourcing to China from getting federal contracts. The agenda promises to bring a million manufacturing jobs back from China, and to do that it talks about offering tax credits to companies who do just that, plus it also promises to allow 100 percent expensing deductions for, as examples, pharmaceutical and robotics companies who repatriate their production here. A policy focus on competing with China ties in well with the statements Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has made about the relationship and its direction. It’s clear Trump has a whole lot more to offer than Biden on China, and this ought to be the central focus of the campaign.”

  7. Newly released FBI notes show what we already knew. Obama directed this entire farce.

“Explosive New FBI Notes Confirm Obama Directed Anti-Flynn Operation

Handwritten notes from fired former FBI agent Peter Strzok show that Obama himself directed key aspects of the campaign to target Flynn during a Jan. 5, 2017 meeting in the Oval Office.”

“Newly released notes confirm President Barack Obama’s key role in surveillance and leak operation against Michael Flynn, the incoming Trump administration national security adviser. The handwritten notes, which were first disclosed in a federal court filing made by the Department of Justice on Tuesday, show President Obama himself personally directed former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates to investigate Flynn for having routine phone calls with a Russian counterpart. He also suggests they withhold information from President Trump and his key national security figures.

The handwritten notes from fired former FBI agent Peter Strzok appear to describe a Jan. 5, 2017, Oval Office meeting between Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Comey, Yates, and then-national security adviser Susan Rice. The meeting and its substance were confirmed in a bizarre Inauguration Day email Rice wrote to herself.

It was at this meeting, which was confirmed by testimony from Comey and Yates, that Obama gave guidance to key officials who would be tasked with protecting his administration’s utilization of secretly funded Clinton campaign research, which alleged Trump was involved in a treasonous plot to collude with Russia, from being discovered or stopped by the incoming administration.

Yates told the special counsel that Obama broke the news of Flynn’s phone calls with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak to her during the Jan. 5 meeting. Rice detailed further involvement from Obama. “President Obama said he wants to be sure that, as we engage with the incoming team, we are mindful to ascertain if there is any reason that we cannot share information fully as it relates to Russia,” she wrote in her email.

The new notes, which record Comey’s accounting to Strzok of the meeting’s substance, constitute definitive evidence that Obama himself was personally directing significant aspects of a criminal investigation into his political enemy’s top foreign policy adviser. An image of the notes is reproduced below. ”

Mr. Scandal Free is dirty. Always has been.

  8. I won’t see it, but remember that I told you.
Nikki Haley will be our first female president.
She was born in Bamburg, SC. So she is a natural born citizen.

  9. There is an opinion that a black man was unjustly killed.
So? The rioters thousands of miles away destroy a furniture store.
    That’s show them cops.

  10. I don’t usually stick around for the entire video but this time I watched Nikki and Kimberly. Both impressive. Kimberly is more rah rah and Haley is more, I would vote for her, material.
