Prayer Requests 1-2-20

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 125

A song of ascents.

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
    both now and forevermore.

The scepter of the wicked will not remain
over the land allotted to the righteous,
for then the righteous might use
    their hands to do evil.

Lord, do good to those who are good,
to those who are upright in heart.
But those who turn to crooked ways
the Lord will banish with the evildoers.

   Peace be on Israel.

  1. Please pray for my neighbors (in the apartment house next-door), Mark and Tonya. I have previously mentioned that they are raising two difficult (due to abuse and such) grandchildren. (The girl, around 10 years old, spent a year in some kind of special place for disturbed children, and has been back home for a few months. They’ve been having a lot of trouble with her.)

Mark is not only battling bladder cancer, but he has been in the hospital for a several days because of his heart. (He has had several heart attacks throughout the years, but is still quite overweight and smokes.) The doctors have discovered that his heart is even weaker than they previously thought. There is even talk of possibly needing a heart transplant. When Tonya was telling this to Denise and me this morning, I could see that her eyes were starting to tear up.

Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, as well as for the patient*. Most importantly, please pray that Mark and Tonya will come to Jesus during this time. They are both kind of rough/tough folks, but Jesus has saved a lot of rough/tough folks, such as Peter and Paul.

(* Earlier last year, while being treated for bladder cancer, Mark didn’t like the side effects of the treatment, so he just stopped. Needless to say, the cancer came back. 😦 )

  2. Daughter seems to be drying up and is trying to reverse the trend. I suspect she is doing too much thinking. It is hard for her to hear baby cry when a simple bottle will quiet things. But to get back to nursing will require some commitment and out lasting. Wisdom.

  3. Today’s Josh update. . .

“He has been seizure free for over a day now. He still has a breathing tube for another 24 hrs as they want to ensure as best they can that those are all set. He had a lower lumbar puncture yesterday to test for added infection, viral or auto immune. Some of those could take a couple of weeks. He had another MRI Tuesday night, that is how he welcomed in 2020. That did confirm signs of some inflammation. From there they are doing pretty much full body CT scan to look for any masses or such that the body may be trying to fight and rule that out. Leaning towards it being auto immune but ruling out everything possible. If he shows the same improvement from today to tomorrow tube could come out. Also pending improvement and results of CT scan they may start on a steroid treatment.
Thank you all for your continued prayers, they are what is getting us through.”
