  1. It makes the argument that Williamson and Trump are two sides of the same coin. The idea that all one needs is a belief or faith in one’s self to suceed. The idea we create our own reality (or facts). It then traces these ideas from Thoreau to Eddy to self-help to New Thought to Vincent Peale to proseperity gospel to new age. Interesting but Williamson fits the mould better than Trump. His connection to Peale does put him in thd historical timeline though.

  2. HRW, I read about half the article, not all. (I used to live in the DC area and took the Post for years. I don’t recall anything of religious significance ever.)
I don’t know of Trump’s religious affiliations, nor his relationship with God.
I do know that he is friendly to traditional Christianity.
My attitude toward Trump has nothing to do with his Spiritual situation. I respected Jimmy Carter immensely, but didn’t like his politics. I

  3. Kind of like racism: if you don’t agree with me, you are racist. Or Islamophobic. Or any of the other phobics.

I read it, mostly. Seemed to be the usual. People do change when they are drawn to God.

  4. No one likes pay walls, though they’re important nowadays — but I keep thinking there’s got to be a way to institute “micro” payments so you can see a single article (especially in publications where the reader has no real reason to pay for a regular subscription).

  6. More winning, because like all the other similar attempts, it’s unconstitutional.

States don’t get to write laws that target specific individuals, as all of these clearly do. Re-write it to take effect after Trump’s second term and you might get it thru judicial review.

“Judge Blocks New York From Turning Over Trump Tax Returns To Congress”

“A federal judge blocked New York state from turning over President Donald Trump’s tax returns to Congress Thursday.

The order from Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee, came in agreement to a proposal from the state that would allow it to challenge Nichols’ jurisdiction over the issue, Politico reported Thursday.

The order will block any House Ways and Means Committee requests for the tax returns via the New York law until the jurisdictional dispute is resolved.

The Trump administration filed a lawsuit July 23 arguing New York violated the president’s constitutional rights when it passed a law earlier in July that would give the majority Democrat House Ways and Means Committee access to the president’s state tax returns, according to Reuters.”
