Prayer Requests 5-17-19

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 104:1-24

Praise the Lord, my soul.

   Lord my God, you are very great;
    you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
    he stretches out the heavens like a tent
3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
   He makes the clouds his chariot
    and rides on the wings of the wind.
He makes winds his messengers,
    flames of fire his servants.

He set the earth on its foundations;
    it can never be moved.
You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment;
    the waters stood above the mountains.
But at your rebuke the waters fled,
    at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;
they flowed over the mountains,
    they went down into the valleys,
    to the place you assigned for them.
You set a boundary they cannot cross;
    never again will they cover the earth.

10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines;
    it flows between the mountains.
11 They give water to all the beasts of the field;
    the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 The birds of the sky nest by the waters;
    they sing among the branches.
13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers;
    the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.
14 He makes grass grow for the cattle,
    and plants for people to cultivate—
    bringing forth food from the earth:
15 wine that gladdens human hearts,
    oil to make their faces shine,
    and bread that sustains their hearts.
16 The trees of the Lord are well watered,
    the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
17 There the birds make their nests;
    the stork has its home in the junipers.
18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats;
    the crags are a refuge for the hyrax.

19 He made the moon to mark the seasons,
    and the sun knows when to go down.
20 You bring darkness, it becomes night,
    and all the beasts of the forest prowl.
21 The lions roar for their prey
    and seek their food from God.
22 The sun rises, and they steal away;
    they return and lie down in their dens.
23 Then people go out to their work,
    to their labor until evening.

24 How many are your works, Lord!

  1. I am also praying for “Cody” today. Two. Neither of whom I know. But, you recall, I had this impression a couple of days ago, that I should pray for Cody. But I didn’t know of one at the time.
    I have “Cody” for today.

  2. The people group for the 30 days of prayer for Muslims is the Masalit of Sudan. Once one of the largest ethnic groups within the state of West Darfur, the Masalit were among those whom the government ethnically cleansed in the brutal Sudanese conflict that began in 2003. The conflict began after the nomadic Arabs were given precedence by the Sudanese government over settled tribes such as the Masalit and others. Rebel groups formed and in response, the Sudanese government carried out a brutal campaign against innocent civilians. The Masalit are now scattered, some headed to North Africa, some attempt the Mediterranean crossing, some are refugees resettled in Western countries, some have gone to the slums of African cities, some remain in Sudan. Eastern Africa has suffered repeated droughts, making life even harder for those left in the Sudan. Pray both for physical rain and that the Masalit would drink of the Living Water (John 6:13-14). Pray that those who do have that Water would be able to forgive their enemies.

  5. Pray for my neighbor Lucero who lost her husband unexpectedly about 3 (?) years ago and has had a full plate ever since with two 20-something year-old sons who have had some addiction issues (one lives at home, the other one is there frequently), a runaway puppy the one son is supposed to be responsible for — and now, I just noticed their one car (they have 2) has been in some kind of a wreck (not the first time, most likely one of the kids was driving), it’s parked out front with the right front end smashed in. There also are financial issues. The one son is in and out of rehab and jail. 😦

    She’s 50-ish and is just trying to hold it all together — her sister is a local dentist & lives around the corner (she also lost her husband in the past year, the two women married twin brothers and they both died of the same congenital heart ailment). But I really feel for everything she’s trying to juggle. When I saw the car this morning, my heart sank.

    It does look like they’re getting part of a new fence put in this week in their backyard so maybe that’ll keep the puppy and their other dog from running the streets where they’re always getting reported by the post office & others.

  6. My so-called problems dim in comparison after reading all of the above. Praying for all.

    Thanks for the prayers for Cody, Chas. The Cody I know is having cancer surgery this very day. Most kids his age are thinking about their high school graduations in the next few weeks, and their futures. Cody’s living in the day-to-day. Please pray for the strengthening of his faith. He’s in church every week he can be. Lord grant him and his family peace.

    I could use prayers as I struggle with overwhelm today. Pray as you are led. Thanks.
