“The most striking thing about the Democrats’ newest presidential candidate is that he’s so hard to pin down.
Even though Beto O’Rourke spent six years as a congressman from El Paso, he has offered few specific positions on issues. Instead, he mostly deploys sunny attitudes; he’s for unity, bipartisanship and everyone pulling together.
“Let us not allow our differences to define us,” he told voters in Iowa. He’s a lanky, toothy Rorschach test; Democrats can project almost any view onto him they like.
That’s unlikely to work long in a tough primary contest, when more than a dozen other candidates will be vying to pin O’Rourke down and expose his soft spots. He’d better come up with some specific proposals and be ready to defend them.

O’Rourke’s story is a bit thinner: He skateboards, plays the guitar and came close to beating Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in November. His issue, at least so far, seems to be his buoyant optimism and bipartisan goodwill — and those may prove out of step in these combative times.

“DEM REPS DEMAND ICE TAKE ‘VERY ILL’ BABY TO THE HOSPITAL — ICE SAYS THE BABY DOESN’T EXIST”
“Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) disputed claims Monday that they are refusing medical care for a severely sick infant that is currently being detained with his father at the border.
The claim that ICE is housing a sick infant originated in a tweet thread over the weekend by RAICES, a nonprofit that provides legal services to illegal immigrants. RAICES asserted that they are in contact with a father who said his baby is suffering from “nonstop diarrhea,” “stomach pain” and is unable to eat. The family is allegedly being kept in the Karnes detention center in Texas.
Several Democratic congresswomen tweeted about the child, urging ICE to take the baby to the hospital immediately.

“On Saturday, a Muslim doctor who has been highly critical of radical Islam appeared on CNN and must have given that network heart palpitations as she insisted that in many parts of the Muslim world, not only is President Trump beloved, but so is former President George W. And I also feel that he needs to do the same about white supremacy, not only the United States, but globally. There is nothing — the president has no responsibility if a fanatic mentions him in a manifesto. A fanatic could equally mention me. So I don’t think that is his responsibility. But, yes, I would like to see President Trump condemn all forms of lethal bigotry.”
The conversation between Ahmed and CNN host Fredericka Whitfield featured Ahmed trying to delineate a distinction between anti-Muslim sentiment and Islamophobia. She said:
Islamophobia actually means the refusal to scrutinize or examine Islam or Islamism, Islamist institutions. Muslims and Christians in Pakistan when they challenged Islamism, when they defended Asia Bibi, the Christian woman that was on death row were killed, assassinated for their purported Islamophobia.
So we must distinguish lethal, diabolical, anti-Muslim xenophobia as is happening in Christchurch from a Islamophobia. Why should we do that? Because, if we do not, we empower Islamists who wish to propagate the myth, the same myth that the white supremacists gunman wants us to believe that we are under siege in the secular world, that we are victims in the West. And it’s not just those that have animus toward Muslims. We already see in Turkey — the president of Turkey, Erdogan, Muslim Brotherhood Islamist Godfather, exploiting this attack, taking advantage of this attack, telling his supporters on an election campaign yesterday to watch the live feed of the gunman.
Ahmed implicitly condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for her anti-Semitic statements, saying, “In this country in the United States, we have Islamists mother — Muslim brotherhood front groups that are claiming Muslims are victims. We just saw a few weeks ago the exploitation of this narrative in the trivialization of anti-Semitism. Anti-Semitism occurred in Congress and the reaction was when there was outrage that this was somehow hate directed at a Muslim who is spewing Islamist ideology. So we have to be extremely clear about the language, clear about the narrative because that controls.”
Whitfield wanted to make sure: “You’re talking about Representative Omar as — yes, you’re talking about Representative Omar as an example of that.”
“House Democrats’ ‘Anti-Hate’ Resolution Is A Stress Test For Criminalizing Their Opposition
Leftists have refashioned ‘hate’ into a political tool to silence opposition. Christians and conservatives are routinely called racist, sexist, homophobes, on no evidence but their disagreement with the left.”
————————-
“The problem with the resolution’s nonspecific condemnation of speech is that it was drafted within a cultural context in which hate is perceived as any speech that offends a minority group, anyone who thinks she’s a victim of “the patriarchy.”
For years, politics have been steeped in leftist labeling of conservatives. If you oppose affirmative action, you’re a racist. If you think a woman is unqualified for office, you’re a sexist. If you want Omar removed from her seat on the Foreign Relations Committee because of her anti-Semitic comments, you’re a hateful, anti-Muslim bigot.
Leftists have refashioned “hate” into a political tool to silence opposition. It has long been an effective Democratic tactic. In the 2012 presidential election, Mitt Romney was falsely accused of being a sexist because he had professional binders of resumes of prospective female employees. He lost the women’s vote, partly because of the sexist label.
It’s become a running joke in political discourse that whenever conservatives call out leftist ideology, they’re immediately called a racist, sexist, or homophobe. It would be funny if it weren’t so bad, especially if a generalized definition of hate based on emotions eventually becomes an argument for law.
Will the free speech and religious liberty of the pastor who believes homosexuality is a sin be undermined as this mentality progresses, making him lose his livelihood and maybe even his freedom? Will the political commentator who says the black community needs to take more responsibility for its freedoms be hounded from social media, fired from his job, fined, or imprisoned, depending on the legislation?
Republicans should oppose the House resolution against hate and bigotry, not only because it doesn’t address the specific issue of Omar’s comments, but because it sets up a possible scenario in which legislation can be twisted to accuse the innocent of a criminal act—with straight, white Christians being the primary target.
Fundamental to free speech is the right to offend others, to say what some people might not like to hear. Too many people in America today can’t handle this freedom. They want to control others because they believe they are currently oppressed or disenfranchised by the majority.
Offense is defined as hate. Political disagreement is labeled bigotry. Straight, white men and women are assumed to be the oppressors of other victimized groups. Our country isn’t many chess moves away from turning the ideas expressed in the House resolution into law.”

“DHS on track to nab 100,000 illegals at border this month
Nielsen says southwest border at ‘systemwide meltdown'”
The government is on track to catch nearly 100,000 immigrants crossing the border illegally this month, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said Monday, renewing the administration’s plea for Congress to do something.
That number would be the highest in more than a decade, and it’s more troubling than the worst years because now the immigrants are increasingly children and families who, despite being here illegally, are almost impossible to deport.
“The situation at our Southern border has gone from a crisis, to a national emergency, to a near systemwide meltdown,” Ms. Nielsen said in delivering an update on the state of her department 16 years after it was established.
Ms. Nielsen said the border wall is part of the solution, but also said Congress must change the laws to allow for detention and faster deportations of immigrant children and families who are living in the U.S. illegally.”
“Houston Library Features Convicted Child Molester Reading Trans Books To Children
State records say the 200-pound, 5-foot-11 man was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child and is at a ‘moderate’ risk for reoffending. His YouTube channel shows him becoming transgender.
The Houston Public Library has apologized for featuring a convicted child molester last fall during its “Drag Queen Storytime” series. It has not, however, announced it will end the program that featured the male sex offender dressed up as a woman reading LGBT books to children as young as babies.
“A media spokesperson for the library confirmed one of the program’s drag queens, Tatiana Mala Nina, is Alberto Garza, a 32-year-old child sex offender,” reports local TV station KHOU. “In 2008, he was convicted of assaulting an 8-year-old boy.”

“Va. Public School Indoctrinates 5-Year-Olds About Transgenderism Without Telling Parents
Parents were not informed by their public school that their kindergarteners would be read a factually false transgender picture book by a cross-dressing male LGBT activist who calls himself ‘Sarah.’
In Arlington County, Virginia, not even kindergarteners are exempt from pro-transgender messaging. So reports The Washington Post, which, earlier this month, featured an article about Ashlawn Elementary School, which honored National “Read Across America Day” by hosting a transgender spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). The spokesperson read a story about a transgender child for a room full of kindergarten children.
Prominent media outlets claimed parents were notified beforehand and allowed opt their children out of the event. But those outlets got the story wrong. The letter, written solely in English despite the school’s sizable non-English-fluent population, nowhere mentions “opting out.”
“Ilhan Omar Doesn’t Represent American Muslims, She Represents Islamists
Criticism of Ilhan Omar’s actions is not an attack on her faith, Somalis, or her skin color. It’s an attack on her actions, while asking if America failed in integrating her and others like her.”
“When the newly elected Rep. Ilhan Omar kicked off her acceptance speech with “As-Salaam-Alaikum,” I felt a space of belonging. There was a feeling that American Muslims had arrived—but what arrived with them, and which version of Islam was going to be represented through her and fellow Muslim freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib?
As-Salaam-Alaikum means “peace be with you,” but how Omar has carried herself in the weeks that followed has been anything put peaceful. Here’s a quick rundown of her recent actions.
Omar accused American Jews of holding dual loyalty toward Israel. However, there was no word of her loyalty to Islamist supremacism and its gold star prize of advancing the Palestinian cause by decimating the Jewish state’s right to exist.
Omar dehumanized President Trump by saying he’s not really human. Now, Omar has survived a war zone. It takes a distorted mind to have received dehumanization at such scale, then dehumanize another.
Omar had trouble distinguishing between her opinion and a fact when discussing Sen. Lindsey Graham, whom she accused of being compromised with no evidence to support the smear.
Her high frequency of tweets and statements peddling anti-Semitic tropes led to congressional resolutions against anti-Semitism, which Omar made about Islamophobia. With the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ influence, the House resolution mutated from a specific issue to a catch-all that includes Islamophobia — a term that has no tangible meaning and has extended from initially meaning “fear of Islam” to being any perceived criticism toward Islam or Muslims (even if it comes from other Muslims).”
“Even a Vacuous Mueller Report Won’t End ‘Russiagate’
Too many reputations and other interests are vested in the legend for it to vanish from American politics anytime soon.”
“Russiagate allegations that the Kremlin has a subversive hold over President Trump, and even put him in the White House, have poisoned American political life for almost three years. Among other afflictions, it has inspired an array of media malpractices, virtually criminalized anti–Cold War thinking about Russia, and distorted the priorities of the Democratic Party. And this leaves aside the woeful impact Russiagate has had in Moscow—on its policymakers’ perception of the US as a reliable partner on mutually vital strategic issues and on Russian democrats who once looked to the American political system as one to be emulated, a loss of “illusions” I previously reported.
Contrary to many expectations, even if the Mueller report, said to be impending, finds, as did a Senate committee recently, “no direct evidence of conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia,” Russiagate allegations are unlikely to dissipate in the near future and certainly not before the 2020 presidential election. There are several reasons this is so, foremost among them the following:
§ The story of a “Kremlin puppet” in the White House is so fabulous and unprecedented it is certain to become a tenacious political legend, as have others in American history despite the absence of any supporting evidence.
§ The careers of many previously semi-obscure Democratic members of Congress have been greatly enhanced—if that is the right word—by their aggressive promotion of Russiagate. (Think, for example, of the ubiquitous media coverage and cable-television appearances awarded to Representatives Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, and Maxine Walters, and to Senators Mark Warner and Richard Blumenthal.) If Mueller fails to report “collusion” of real political substance, these and other Russiagate zealots, as well as their supporters in the media, will need to reinterpret run-of-the-mill (and bipartisan) financial corruption and mundane “contacts with Russia” as somehow treasonous. (The financial-corruption convictions of Paul Manafort, Mueller’s single “big win” to date, did not charge “collusion” and had to do mainly with Ukraine, not Russia.) Having done so already, there is every reason to think Democrats will politicize these charges again, if only for the sake of their own careers. Witness, for example, the scores of summonses promised by Jerrold Nadler, the new Democratic chair of the House Judiciary Committee.”
“Google employees on an internal company listserv complained when a Christian video on marriage appeared as an advertisement on several YouTube channels. A Google vice president agreed that it was “offensive” and had the video taken down.
What was so “offensive” about it?
Daily Caller:
Christian radio host Michael L. Brown argues in the video that gay people are welcome as Christians but that, like every other person, they are called to follow Christian teachings on sex and marriage.
Brown has spoken out in the past against “homo-hatred” and “ugly rhetoric” directed at gay and lesbian people by fringe groups like the Westboro Baptist Church.”
——————–
“Nobody likes to be told they’re a “sinner,” but viewing a message that gently reminds gay people of Christian teaching on homosexuality and marriage is hardly “offensive” using any objective criteria. No one at Google is worried about “offending” Christians who might be as uncomfortable viewing pro-gay content as gays are at viewing what they see as anti-gay content.
This is why we have free expression. But when that “freedom” is only available to one side of a question, and “hate” is used as an excuse to silence those who might disagree, everybody loses.
Being opposed to gay marriage is not a “fringe” position. It’s as mainstream as apple pie – especially in communities of faith. There is no room in America for those who would do violence to people for their sexual orientation, but neither is there room in the US for those who would feign being “offended” by something inoffensive in order to interfere with their right to express their views.”

Like Ricky, they’re too deeply invested to admit they were wrong and move on. So……

Christian video on marriage removed from YouTube when Google employees object
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/03/christian_video_on_marriage_removed_from_youtube_when_google_employees_object.html

AJ, Ricky has voluntarily left this platform, yet in only skimming the posts on this thread, I have seen you mention him at least twice within the last few days. Is that necessary or edifying?
