Prayer Requests 3-11-19

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 38

Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
    or discipline me in your wrath.
Your arrows have pierced me,
    and your hand has come down on me.
Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
    there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin.
My guilt has overwhelmed me
    like a burden too heavy to bear.

My wounds fester and are loathsome
    because of my sinful folly.
I am bowed down and brought very low;
    all day long I go about mourning.
My back is filled with searing pain;
    there is no health in my body.
I am feeble and utterly crushed;
    I groan in anguish of heart.

All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
    my sighing is not hidden from you.
10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;
    even the light has gone from my eyes.
11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds;
    my neighbors stay far away.
12 Those who want to kill me set their traps,
    those who would harm me talk of my ruin;
    all day long they scheme and lie.

13 I am like the deaf, who cannot hear,
    like the mute, who cannot speak;
14 I have become like one who does not hear,
    whose mouth can offer no reply.
15 Lord, I wait for you;
    you will answer, Lord my God.
16 For I said, “Do not let them gloat
    or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.”

17 For I am about to fall,
    and my pain is ever with me.
18 I confess my iniquity;
    I am troubled by my sin.
19 Many have become my enemies without cause;
    those who hate me without reason are numerous.
20 Those who repay my good with evil
    lodge accusations against me,
    though I seek only to do what is good.

21 Lord, do not forsake me;
    do not be far from me, my God.
22 Come quickly to help me,
    my Lord and my Savior.

  1. Please pray for BG. She and I had dinner and spent some time together on Friday. She told me a couple of things that have me concerned. Somehow we are going to get through this.

  2. My prayer request is kind of frivolous and selfish, but I’m gonna put it out here anyway. . . Although we will not be looking for a house for a couple years yet, I am praying that God would be already preparing the one that is just right for us.

    Nightingale wants a four-bedroom home that is a medium-size, not a “McMansion” as many four-bedroom houses seem to be (at least in our area).

    We want to stay in Stafford because we very much like the town, and the school system is a good one.

    I would like the master bedroom suite that will be my private area to be large enough to feel comfortable and not cramped. (I would love an L-shaped room which would be ideal for semi-separate sleeping and “living” areas. As a teen, I had a room like that for a little while, and loved it.) And of course, I would need my own bathroom right off the room (which is what makes it a master bedroom “suite”.)

    (A small or efficiency-size “in-law” apartment would be fantastic, but not likely. Still worth mentioning, though.)

    There are some other wants/needs, too. What I am asking for may sound picky, but I am also keeping my heart open to whatever God will bless us with. I don’t want to be presumptuous in my praying, but I also believe that God wants us to ask like a little child asking her daddy for something special, knowing that Daddy may say no, or may have something else in mind.

    (I’ve also been bold enough to pray that the current owners of whichever home He has for us will be prompted to make any serious repairs that may need to be done.)

  3. The Saturday night “discussion” with hubby bore good fruit. Thank you for praying.

    Also, Bible study, with the excessive chattiness I mentioned a couple weeks ago, is going better lately. I have gotten bolder in speaking up and redirecting when things are going off course, and no one’s gotten angry or killed me yet. 😉

  4. I am planning to start reading The Chronicles of Narnia to The Boy tonight. Please pray that he will really “get into” them, and they will capture his imagination. Also, of course, that someday I will be able to help him connect the dots from the stories to Jesus. Thank you.

  5. There were text exchanges this morning with sisters concerning Mom and her need to make decisions about future living arrangements. Little sister wanting me to come home sooner than I wanted to discuss what we need to do. One thing is selling Mom’ s house with little sister and her husband building an addition to their home for Mom….with the proceeds from the sale of Mom’s house. I am supportive of this plan with stipulations. I know older sister will not like this at all. Every feel like you have a knot in the pit of your stomach? That is how I am feeling right now….

  6. Oh, NancyJill, I’m so sorry you are in the middle of that. May God grant you calm and peace in your heart throughout this decision-making process, and may He give you the words to help your older sister understand the wisdom of the decision.

  7. So disappointed. The Boy did not want me to start reading The Chronicles of Narnia to him, but wanted me to continue in the book he and his mom have been reading, which was one of the Captain Underpants books. At least they are entertaining.

    Although I tried to talk him into it, I did not want to strongly insist against his will, which would have turned him off the books right from the beginning. So maybe it is not the right time for them. Someday will be the right time.

  8. Mumsee, that was my thought, too. He might not be interested in the Narnia book, but I’d tell him his mom is reading the other one with him, and he and I can read a different one. Personally, if I were reading through a book with a child, I would rather have another adult choose a different book anyway–if I liked the book well enough to read it with the child, I wouldn’t want someone else reading portions of it and leaving the book “disconnected” for me.

    But definitely the book that might interest an adult might not interest a child, or might not interest him yet, and that’s OK.
