The media constantly make up numbers to push their agenda. Why would anyone think they didn’t here?
And the term “evangelical” doesn’t mean to the heathens what the term is understood to mean by evangelicals. I know few who would consider Mormons or JW’s to be evangelicals, but to heathens looking to push an agenda, anyone will do.
Their numbers are flawed at best, flat out false at worst. Nobody with a brain ever believed the 81% stat.
Plus any numbers provided by CNN (where they got the 80% number) are questionable. It’s not like they’re a reputable source for stats, or news even.

Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson announced the arrest of the suspect — identified as Gustavo Perez Arriaga — in Bakersfield, about 280 miles southeast of Newman, where Police Cpl. Ronil Singh was gunned down early Wednesday. The arrest was confirmed by the Fresno County and Kern County Sheriff’s Offices.

“While we absolutely need to stay focused on Officer Singh’s service and sacrifice, we can’t ignore the fact that this could’ve been preventable,” Christianson said. “And under SB54 in California, based on two arrests for DUI and some other active warrants that this criminal has out there, law enforcement would’ve been prevented, prohibited from sharing any information with ICE about this criminal gang member. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not how you protect a community.”
What makes these kinds of calculations difficult is the self-identifying factor — someone is an evangelical if they tell the pollster they are. The numbers — either way, saying more than half or less than half — are loose and tentative at best.

Mainstream media White House correspondents, invariably male, try to talk over her and shout her down. But she’s been so effective that there have been calls by the media to boycott her press briefings.
With Sarah’s success has come a high price. Leftist harassment of Sanders has become so severe that she has become the first press secretary to require secret service protection, including at her home.
“The media has attacked me personally, on a number of occasions, including your own network,” Sanders said, responding to CNN’s Jim Acosta, who would later get in trouble for manhandling a female White House intern. “Said I should be harassed as a life sentence, that I should be choked.”
It was MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace who made the choking remark, saying, live on the air, to an NBC White House correspondent, “How do you resist the temptation to run up and wring her neck?”
“No one is telling them to be violent protesters, but we’re not going to go let these people go through life unscathed,” the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin had declared on MSNBC. “Sarah Huckabee has no right to live a life of no fuss, no muss, after lying to the press, after inciting against the press. These people should be made uncomfortable.”
Neither MSNBC nor the Washington Post imposed any consequences for this violent rhetoric because murderous fantasies aimed at Trump and his people have been normalized by the mainstream media.
“When I was hosted by the Correspondents’ Association, of which almost all of you are members, you brought a comedian out to attack my appearance, and called me a traitor to my own gender,” Sarah noted.

In wide-ranging interviews with Hill.TV’s Buck Sexton and me on Wednesday and Thursday, President Trump’s defense lawyer pointedly accused Mueller’s office of destroying evidence by allowing text messages from now-fired FBI official Peter Strzok and his FBI lover, Lisa Page, to be erased in the Russia probe.
“Mueller should be investigated for destruction of evidence for allowing those text messages from Strzok to be erased, messages that would show the state of mind and tactics of his lead anti-Trump FBI agent at the start of his probe,” Giuliani said.
The Justice Department inspector general (IG) reported this month that it found large gaps in the preservation of official government text messages between Strzok and Page, the two top FBI agents who helped to start the Russia probe in 2016, who were having an affair at the time, and who expressed disdain for Trump.
The report said a technical glitch was to blame for the FBI’s failure to save those text messages, but the IG was able to recover more than 19,000 from the early part of the Russia probe before Mueller was named special prosecutor.
However, the IG said it was unable to recover messages from the time Strzok and Page worked for Mueller’s office in spring and summer 2017 because the memories of both FBI officials’ government phones were wiped clean by technicians.
That erasure occurred after Strzok and Page left Mueller’s team over revelations they exchanged anti-Trump text messages, including one string in which they talked about stopping Trump from becoming president.
“That should be investigated, damn it, that should be investigated fully. You want a special counsel, get one for that,” Giuliani said.
When pressed about whether he thought the erasure was intentional and not just a mistake, Giuliani alluded to the infamous erasure of a Watergate tape by President Nixon’s loyal secretary a half-century earlier.
“It’s actually worse than Rose Mary Woods,” he explained. “She erased less than 19 minutes of conversation, but the FBI got rid of more than 19,000 messages,” and the messages from the time Strzok and Page worked for Mueller are lost forever.
Giuliani said the Russia probe investigators also should be investigated for using the Christopher Steele dossier, which he called a “piece of garbage,” to justify a search warrant on a Trump adviser without telling the court it was paid for by 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic Party.
“Do I think that is improper? Yeah, that borders on — that sounds to me a lot more like a false statement than some of the ones they charged,” he said, referring to Mueller’s team.”
“Those of us who have been paying attention know that serious crimes were committed at the highest levels of government in an attempt to exonerate Hillary Clinton and frame Donald Trump. There was collusion between government agencies, including collusion with foreign agents, to illegally influence the 2016 Presidential election. There is enough evidence on the table to be confident of these claims.
And those of us who care about rule of law, who want to see justice done to the criminals in this conspiracy, have been waiting for years to see that happen. We hear that these serious matters are being investigated. We hear that there are whistleblowers inside the government who want to come forward and expose the corruption. We hear that there are many, many more documents which will substantiate our worst fears about one of the greatest scandals in the history of our country.
We have been assured that there are several investigations looking into the various aspect of this abuse of power. Inspector General Michael Horowitz, prosecutor John Huber, and others are looking into the corruption. Mueller is supposedly tasked with exposing foreign influence on the Presidential election.
But what if the ‘investigations’ are really the cover-up? What if the investigations are carefully structured to protect criminal actions rather than expose them? What if the investigations are actually being used to hide evidence from the citizenry?
Peter Strzok, Andrew McCabe and others discussed the need for an “insurance policy” in case Trump won. Was this “insurance policy” intended to protect deep-state criminals from exposure? Mueller’s role is not to investigate collusion with foreign agents, or he would be investigating Christopher Steele and his Russian sources, along with the foreigners who worked with our government to infiltrate the Trump campaign. He would investigate the illegal funding of Steele’s lies and how the lies were fed to the public by ‘bad cops’ and complicit media. This is obviously not the goal of Mueller’s team.
Mueller’s key role is to have nearly absolute control over what information is released to investigators or the public. Mueller determines what Horowitz and Huber can see. Mueller can hide anything he wants by claiming that release of the information would hinder his ‘investigation’. He has given Rod Rosenstein a list of lines of inquiry that will not be allowed. Rosenstein, who volunteered to be part of the soft coup, is happy to comply. We have witnessed Rosenstein repeatedly refuse to turn over documents to Congress, flagrantly obstructing its oversight role.
What is the most effective way to hide the truth and protect the deep-state criminals? It’s the never-ending Mueller investigation. Sure, Mueller’s team is still in the business of promoting the Trump-Russia fiction, but the most important role of this ‘investigation’ may be to obstruct any real investigation.
Conspiracy theories become conspiracy facts when enough evidence piles up to support the theory. Consider this evidence, starting before the election:”

To give a recent example of how this works in practice: Judd Legum, a far-left activist with a large media following, has been leading a campaign to get corporate companies to disassociate from MS Senator Hyde-Smith since the general election.
That creates a major source of media bias that is almost impossible to evaluate or quantify. Left-wing activists regularly get their campaigns and preferred stories highlighted in the mainstream press, which gives them more credibility. Rarely happens the other way.

The 81% figure, for instance, is off on multiple levels. The article I posted mentioned that some evangelicals didn’t vote. Well, that’s true, but even that isn’t the full story. My husband and I aren’t technically “evangelicals” by some definitions (we’re Reformed, and he insists that’s a different category), we did vote, and we didn’t vote for Trump. We left the “president” choice blank. Had we been counted as “not voting,” that would be misleading. That’s just one example of how real life can be far more nuanced than a poll can ever report. (That was the first time in my adult life I didn’t vote for the Republican presidential candidate, though a couple of times I came close to voting third party.)
Cheryl, I’m sure they weren’t carefully used. Among the problems is that pollsters often have no clue about what constitutes an evangelical or how Christianity is defined.
Fundamentalist is a term that once was used frequently but (thankfully) is one I am not hearing much anymore from the outside.
Probably a better measuring stick would be identifying people who are Christians and who attend church weekly or more often …
The term “evangelical” comes with some baggage nowadays and many of us have moved away from using it as a description of our own Christian faith. It was a useful term for many years, but I think became too tied up with political categories to be a reliable term when it comes to defining one’s faith. With the division now among political conservatives and the election of Trump, it’s become especially problematic.
Cheryl, for the first time in my life I left the President line blank as well. My sense (if only mostly a guess, but an educated and observant one, I believe) is that a number of us in our church did so in 2016; many were outright opposed to Trump (based on some social media posts I saw), some kept mum, some likely voted for him as a lesser of two evils.
I know of at least a few folks, though a minority in our congregation, who probably voted for Clinton as politically they lean Democrat.
In Presidential elections I never leave the line blank. I look for a good 3rd party or independent. If more of us frustrated with the 2 parties would do that, maybe they would change how they pick nominees.

Mueller’s role is not to investigate collusion with foreign agents, or he would be investigating Christopher Steele and his Russian sources, along with the foreigners who worked with our government to infiltrate the Trump campaign. He would investigate the illegal funding of Steele’s lies and how the lies were fed to the public by ‘bad cops’ and complicit media. This is obviously not the goal of Mueller’s team.
Mueller’s key role is to have nearly absolute control over what information is released to investigators or the public. Mueller determines what Horowitz and Huber can see. Mueller can hide anything he wants by claiming that release of the information would hinder his ‘investigation’. He has given Rod Rosenstein a list of lines of inquiry that will not be allowed. Rosenstein, who volunteered to be part of the soft coup, is happy to comply. We have witnessed Rosenstein repeatedly refuse to turn over documents to Congress, flagrantly obstructing its oversight role.
What is the most effective way to hide the truth and protect the deep-state criminals? It’s the never-ending Mueller investigation. Sure, Mueller’s team is still in the business of promoting the Trump-Russia fiction, but the most important role of this ‘investigation’ may be to obstruct any real investigation.

I hate it that the media lumps people into ethnic/racial/gender groups and makes it sound like we are all alike. Take this article: Latino support for GOP steady despite Trump immigration talk.
The AP makes it sound like all of us from Spanish backgrounds should be Democrats. Sorry. One reason we support the GOP is because we are tired of those trying to enter the US illegally instead of entering the hard way:waiting for the immigration authorities to get their act in gear. My family had no problem since Puerto Ricans were granted citizenship in 1917. But I know of legal immigrants who resent the fact that illegals are sometimes given a fast track, thus rewarding them for their crime.

The right wing needs to stop whining. The exact same media cross fertilization occurs on the right. From blogs to FOX to the White House where its stated as fact and policy by Huckabee. She too needs to stop whining and just deliver the requisite news releases. Yes its a public job and you will be criticized but the snowflake act is tiring.
Lieu has a point and one that isnt diminished by changing the topic. Tight borders have economic consequences esp in an era of just in time delivery in which trucks act as rolling warehouses.
From what I understand, non essential personnel don’t work and hence will miss out entirely on a pay not just a delayed pay. Thus Trump’s temper tantrum is costing people money.

DJ, the numbers may not be precisely made up, but they may not be carefully used, either.
The 81% figure, for instance, is off on multiple levels. The article I posted mentioned that some evangelicals didn’t vote. Well, that’s true, but even that isn’t the full story. My husband and I aren’t technically “evangelicals” by some definitions (we’re Reformed, and he insists that’s a different category), we did vote, and we didn’t vote for Trump. We left the “president” choice blank. Had we been counted as “not voting,” that would be misleading. That’s just one example of how real life can be far more nuanced than a poll can ever report. (That was the first time in my adult life I didn’t vote for the Republican presidential candidate, though a couple of times I came close to voting third party.)

Cheryl, I’m sure they weren’t carefully used. Among the problems is that pollsters often have no clue about what constitutes an evangelical or how Christianity is defined.
Fundamentalist is a term that once was used frequently but (thankfully) is one I am not hearing much anymore from the outside.
Probably a better measuring stick would be identifying people who are Christians and who attend church weekly or more often …
The term “evangelical” comes with some baggage nowadays and many of us have moved away from using it as a description of our own Christian faith. It was a useful term for many years, but I think became too tied up with political categories to be a reliable term when it comes to defining one’s faith. With the division now among political conservatives and the election of Trump, it’s become especially problematic.

Cheryl, for the first time in my life I left the President line blank as well. My sense (if only mostly a guess, but an educated and observant one, I believe) is that a number of us in our church did so in 2016; many were outright opposed to Trump (based on some social media posts I saw), some kept mum, some likely voted for him as a lesser of two evils.
I know of at least a few folks, though a minority in our congregation, who probably voted for Clinton as politically they lean Democrat.

In Presidential elections I never leave the line blank. I look for a good 3rd party or independent. If more of us frustrated with the 2 parties would do that, maybe they would change how they pick nominees.
