Prayer Requests 1-25-18

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 141

I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me;
    hear me when I call to you.
May my prayer be set before you like incense;
    may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.

Set a guard over my mouth, Lord;
    keep watch over the door of my lips.
Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil
    so that I take part in wicked deeds
   along with those who are evildoers;
    do not let me eat their delicacies.

Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness;
    let him rebuke me—that is oil on my head.
   My head will not refuse it,
    for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers.

Their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs,
    and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken.
They will say, “As one plows and breaks up the earth,
    so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave.”

But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign Lord;
    in you I take refuge—do not give me over to death.
Keep me safe from the traps set by evildoers,
    from the snares they have laid for me.
10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
    while I pass by in safety.

  1. Just thinking of the need of praying for our fellow believers in prominent situations. I don’t know where she is with God but I have thought over the past several days/ weeks/ months that I should be praying for her.

  2. My mother-in-law is in ICU with some sort of infection — it’s not clear what. She is in good spirits, though, and not exhibiting any confusion. Thank you for your continued prayers.

  3. Saw on Facebook that MakeItMan has the flu.

    Which reminds me. . .Many people at the nursing home are battling the flu. Please pray for them, but also please pray that Nightingale does not get it herself, or bring it home.

    Also, please pray that Nightingale’s schedule for February will fill in more. For some reason, there are not a lot of open shifts for next month. But I have noticed that usually, when she starts a month with not enough shifts scheduled, she picks up more shifts as the month goes along, often ending with very near full-time hours for the month. Praying that will happen for her in February.

    Her aim, besides getting enough shifts, is to have at least one week with overtime. She often works six days, sometimes more, in a row, but if those days cross from one week to the next, that does not count as overtime.

  4. I feel like a whiner saying this, but it feels like there are too many important things that must be done, and either I don’t have any energy to do them, or I waste the energy I do have on being frustrated that I can’t do it all.

    I don’t know that I’ve ever had a winter as bad as this one. Menopause and turning 55 last year, and now the first winter after that, have felt like the worst (I erased the word I first typed there) things that have ever happened to me.

    Really need some perspective right now — please, no advice, just pray.

    Thank you.

  5. Prayers, 6 Arrows.

    Also going through a tough stretch, I think following those 2 years of house horrors and now with the job uproar — it’s all really made me feel spiritually scattered, run down and distracted. Not a good time.
