Let’s remember to keep Leon (Kizzie’s husband) in prayer today as he is having two tests, a CT scan & a bone scan in his ongoing battle with cancer. Let’s lift up Leon and his family.
Today is also the day Miguel (RKessler’s husband) gets to go home! Let’s pray all goes well for he and RKessler.
And since it’s Wednesday, don’t forget to pray for The Gambia, and for Ajisuun as well.
Anyone else?
Psalm 15
1 Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?
2 The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;
4 who despises a vile person
but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
and does not change their mind;
5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
Whoever does these things
will never be shaken.
AJ, how did things turn out at your wife’s company yesterday? I wasn’t sure from your post whether she was there or not at the time.

Kevin,
She was there, but after several hours the police lifted the lock down. But they still haven’t located the guy. So the extra security will continue until he is dealt with, hopefully without anymore lock downs. 😦

AJ – Your mention of Leon up above brought me to tears. Thank you.

Nightingale is facing a deep disappointment, & I am praying that God will draw her to Himself at this time.
The disappointment is that she is withdrawing from the college classes she was to begin next Tuesday (to continue for her RN degree). She realized that, despite what she thought was careful planning, she would not be able to afford it after all. She was going to cut down her working hours to fit in time for the classes, but now realizes that will not work financially after all.
My concern is that if Hubby’s health slips, & he can’t work anymore, or has to take a lesser job, she won’t be able to pursue her further education for a long time. Although I know “that’s life” – things don’t always work out the way we so carefully plan – I am sad for her.

Kizzie, has she looked into the option of working a job that will pay for her studies? There are lots of options for nursing students along that front, at least in some regions. (Our younger daughter is pursuing nursing.)

Good idea, Cheryl, many companies do pay for education if it’s related to the job.

One of our local hospitals will pay for further education for employees….they even paid for the dearest older lady in housekeeping to acquire her CNA education and license. She was in her 70’s and the nurses noticed her attention and care towards patients….she is thriving in her new position 🙂

I’ll suggest that to her.

Though the situation here is not so much not being able to afford the schooling (she has a student loan), but her other financial needs.

Nightingale is feeling better about her decision now after talking to the LPN at her doctor’s office. That lady is a single mom, too, & told her that she had begun the process to enter a nursing program, but was overwhelmed by what was presented at the orientation. (You may have heard that nursing has been rated as the nation’s toughest bachelor’s degree program.)
So I think Nightingale may put it off for a little while, & concentrate on raising her son & working. It’s not that she’s afraid of the academic challenge (she’s highly intelligent & a hard worker), but the timing, with Little Guy still being young, & a handful, may not be right.
She has said she will re-evaluate it in the spring.

My toe/foot is still not healing and now one of my glands in my neck is swollen and extremely sore. The on call doctor is one I don’t care to see, so I didn’t go in, but now it’s just getting more and more painful.

Oh, Kare I have been following your toe saga. I am so sorry this is happening to you.

Can she knock off any prerequisites on-line, one at a time, Kizzy? If it’s a BA, surely she has to take things like math, English and history? Maybe not through that exact program but through the local JC?

Oh Kare! ….perhaps you should go on in and see the stinky doctor anyway….sounds so painful…..I am praying for His careful watch over you and healing ❤️

Michelle’s idea is definitely worth looking into, Kizzie.
Through my daughter’s health struggles after high school she took a class here and there at the community college as she was able to. She got most of her general ed requirements out of the way, so she has a head start as she is finally able to start her degree program at the university this fall.
Some universities have formal transfer arrangements with nearby community colleges. In fact, our community college has a formal 2+2 nursing program with nearby Eastern Michigan University. Getting the first two years at the community college saves a LOT of money compared to the university, and it might be possible to do it one class at a time.
