Prayer Requests 5-19-17

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 79

O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance;
    they have defiled your holy temple,
    they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble.
They have left the dead bodies of your servants
    as food for the birds of the sky,
    the flesh of your own people for the animals of the wild.
They have poured out blood like water
    all around Jerusalem,
    and there is no one to bury the dead.
We are objects of contempt to our neighbors,
    of scorn and derision to those around us.

How long, Lord? Will you be angry forever?
    How long will your jealousy burn like fire?
Pour out your wrath on the nations
    that do not acknowledge you,
on the kingdoms
    that do not call on your name;
for they have devoured Jacob
    and devastated his homeland.

Do not hold against us the sins of past generations;
    may your mercy come quickly to meet us,
    for we are in desperate need.
Help us, God our Savior,
    for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
    for your name’s sake.
10 Why should the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”

Before our eyes, make known among the nations
    that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants.
11 May the groans of the prisoners come before you;
    with your strong arm preserve those condemned to die.
12 Pay back into the laps of our neighbors seven times
    the contempt they have hurled at you, Lord.
13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture,
    will praise you forever;
from generation to generation
    we will proclaim your praise.

  1. Praises: the boy who was having trouble in my class did well today. He got mad at someone giving advice during a game of checkers and snatched up the mat the game was on. Disrupting the game, but not hurting anyone. I praised him and gave him words he could have used. Later my aide told me that he was getting ready to play Score Four with another student, they both wanted the white pieces and he got mad, but walked away for a while and then came back and insisted that the other person have the white pieces. This is huge and thanks to the prayers of all of you. I was so glad to make a positive report to mom.

  2. A friend’s daughter has requested a phone appointment with me this afternoon, “because Mom said you’re wise and might have some suggestions for me.”

    I’m flattered but concerned I speak only through the Holy Spirit’s direction this afternoon. Join me in that earnest prayer? Thanks.

  3. Day 8 of allergic reaction with hives – seems to be getting worse, not better. Doctor has me on cream medication and oral medication as well as Benadryl and Aerius. I’m feeling quite discouraged as the medication makes me sleepy and I can’t take it during the day and still go to work.

  4. Kare – Do you know what caused this allergic reaction? Is it something you’re still being exposed to?

  5. Kizzie, I’m allergic to so many things, it’s not even funny. But I did eat a scotch mint last Friday and looked at the label later. It said “may contain peanuts and tree nuts” That could have been it or it could be a new allergy. I just don’t know. Last time I had hives head to toe they lasted about a week, getting significantly better towards the end. These ones are getting worse 😦

  6. Hope you will have answers and a complete turnaround soon, Kare. So frustrating — ongoing issues, worsening of symptoms, unknown causes, etc. Prayers.

    Praying, Michelle.

    Prayers for wisdom as I contemplate what more to do with my current dental woes. My dentist referred me to an endodontist to see if I need a root canal before the final crown is put on my tooth. (There’s a temporary on it now.) Endo appt. isn’t until June 7, though. I am hoping all the problems will be gone by then. It may just be the muscle or nerve or whatever all runs along that path from my right ear to the center of my chin, and time for the inflammation to die down on its own (they thought it could be two weeks, and the two-week point will be this coming Tuesday) could be all that is needed.

    I have been pain-free enough of the time the last couple days to have some hope that things are on the mend, and am figuring out more of what not to do to keep from aggravating it. Your continued prayers are much appreciated.

  7. This morning, the man who had been staying with my parents died. He was still in the hospital, and while the C. difficile infection seemed to have been clearing up, he himself was getting worse. He had been seriously delirious this past week. He had lymphoma, but the cancer specialist had said it was the slow growing kind, and with that kind, people often die of something else long before the cancer reaches an advanced stage.. What exactly he died of, we may never know, as even this morning before he died, the hospital was still trying to figure out what was the cause of his symptoms. I still think it may have been Addison’s, as his prevalent symptom throughout all this was hyponatremia, which is abnormally low sodium levels in the blood, and Addison’s (a deficiency of the adrenal glands) is characterized by an inability to retain sodium. However, it is a rare condition, and so people don’t think to look for it. I wasn’t in a position to be able to suggest anything to a doctor, and it may not have been that anyway. This is going to be very difficult for his wife. They used to go out almost everyday, as she liked to see people. Now, she is alone in a nursing home. Her son will probably visit her as often as he can, but he lives in another city an hour away, and his wife never showed any interest in her in-laws. My parents will try to visit her, as they have been visiting both regularly since the man went into the hospital.

  8. So sad, Roscuro.
    Kare, I had trouble with some medicine and the doctor said I was allergic to the cream and to get the same medicine in an ointment. When you look at the list of ingredients, it is amazing how many are in the cream.
