  1. I found this article to be helpful in explaining our different attitudes toward the press.

Older conservatives are used to reading a variety of sources and spotting (and discounting) bias when it is found in the MSM. They can also spot bias on the Right. Younger conservatives are more likely to never read or watch the MSM and are also more likely to uncritically accept stuff from Fox and Breitbart.

  2. From the article:

Trump’s repeated media missteps have frustrated even longtime supporters. “Every day he looks more and more like a complete moron,” said one senior administration official who also worked on Trump’s campaign. “I can’t see Trump resigning or even being impeached, but at this point I wish he’d grow a brain and be the man that he sold himself as on the campaign.”
Asked whether an administration staff change-up would ameliorate this latest crisis, a Republican source formerly involved with a pro-Trump political group told The Daily Beast, “yes, if it comes with a frontal lobotomy for Trump.”

  3. No! No! Trump’s staff has engaged in a “Twitter Intervention” with the lunatic. They are trying to stop all the fun.

They specifically singled out the infamous “tapp” Tweet that caused him to be ridiculed by educated people across the political spectrum, but was widely believed by his cult followers here and elsewhere.

  4. Stupidity is not an impeachable offense, particularly when he was just as dumb when he was elected. Give him time. Trump is as crooked as he is dumb.

  5. Amused when Trump, Republicans and supporters complain about the media focus on him. Six months ago they bragged how he manipulated the media to give him more coverage and free airtime. The media covered him for the ratings and that’s why they still cover him. Its not a liberal witch hunt. Its capitalism. Live by the media die by the media.

  6. The craziest part of this whole episode is that there is still no evidence that Trump or his campaign colluded with the Russians during the campaign. What has happened is that for months Trump has “brilliantly” framed himself of committing obstruction of justice:

    1. Instead of admitting that Russia hacked the Democrats and leaked damaging info in an attempt to affect the election, he denied what all intelligent people knew to be true.
    2. He repeatedly asked the FBI chief who was investigating Russia/Trumpkin ties for a bizarre commitment of personal “loyalty”.
    3. He Tweeted the “tapp” lies against Obama in an attempt to distract from/confuse/or end the Russia/Trumpkin investigation.
    4. Though none of his staff could bring forth any evidence to support the “tapp” lies he managed to dupe the unfortunate Nunes and millions of other ordinary Trumpkins into coming up with all sorts of bizarre fantasies that might make the tapp Tweets something other than outlandish lies.
    5. He asked Comey to let Flynn off the hook. Who knows his motives, but reasonable people might speculate this was done to prevent Flynn from testifying against Trump.
    6. He fired Comey, the man investigating his campaign and the man who refused to pledge personal loyalty or let Flynn off the hook.
    7. He had his staff lie about why he fired Comey, attempting to place the blame on Rosenstein whom he had assigned to come up with a reason to fire Comey.
    8. After Rosenstein and Trump’s lawyer came up with a more believable lie about the chronology of the Comey firing (and this story was repeated by Pence and others), Trump blurted out to Lester Holt that he had fired Comey because of the Russia investigation.
    9. He then told the Russians (shortly before or after he gave them Top Secret info) that he had fired the “nutjob” Comey so the pressure was off.

A few crazed Democrats like Maxine Waters and Green have called for impeachment, but most of the leading Democrats (See Schumer and Feinstein) and the liberal press have not gotten ahead of the story. They have simply gleefully reported each and every idiotic act committed by Trump. Douthat, who was truly stunned by Trump’s imbecility, proposed the 25th Amendment removal, but was quickly shot down by conservatives.

Meanwhile the 35% of Americans who have joined the Trump Cult (who apparently get their news solely from Trump or Trumpkin sources) refuse to acknowledge obvious facts, attack the press and blindly support their idiot.

  8. Tychicus, I had a realization over the last couple of days. Most of our disagreements can be traced back to what we read or watch. Yesterday’s 1:08 a.m. post partially explains it. You and AJ are younger than I am. I tend to agree with Bruce Bartlett and DJ on sources (not to call you old, DJ).

Here is the test. What do you believe about the Seth Rich story currently making the rounds?

  9. Here is the story:

    http://www.redstate.com/jaycaruso/2017/05/21/republican-spreading-conspiracy-theory-slain-dnc-staffer-seth-rich/

On one side, you have Gingrich, Hannity and Fox.

On the other side you have National Review, Red State, The Weekly Standard and the entire mainstream media.

The lesson is: The mainstream media may be biased, but they are much smarter than Hannity. If several of the reputable conservatives side with the mainstream media on a story, be leery of Hannity, Breitbart, Fox and their ilk. Hannity and Limbaugh are entertainers. Treat them as such. Treat them like Colbert and Bill Maher.

  10. In all this back & forth about Trump, no one is talking about the real issue. Why did the brunet Trump decide to bleach his hair blond rather than dye it brown or go grey?
