  1. Jeremiah 6

13 “From the least to the greatest,
    all are greedy for gain;
    prophets and priests alike,
    all practice deceit.
14 They dress the wound of my people
as though it were not serious.
    ‘Peace, peace,’ they say,
    when there is no peace.

15 Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
    No, they have no shame at all;
they do not even know how to blush.
    So they will fall among the fallen;
they will be brought down when I punish them,”
    says the LORD.

    Boldface mine.

I wrote a dissertation for a subject in a course on religion when I was at USCarolina. that’s all the course was, the paper.
    I got an A. .
The subject was “There Is No Peace” from Jere. 6:14. As before, I am no prophet, but my reasoning was logical. Most of what I said0 has happened.
    This was in 1957.

I came across this in my morning devotions, BTW. Thought I would share it. Something to think about. Pray about. Prepare for, as much as we can.

  2. If you thought Trump flip-flopped on immigration, you’d be wrong. His 10 point plan released in his speech yesterday spells it out.

“Number One: We will build a wall along the southern border
On day one, we will begin working on an impenetrable physical wall on the southern border. We will use the best technology, including above-and below-ground sensors, towers, aerial surveillance and manpower to supplement the wall, find and dislocate tunnels, and keep out the criminal cartels, and Mexico will pay for the wall.

    Number Two: End ‘catch-and-release’
Anyone who illegally crosses the border will be detained until they are removed out of our country.

Number Three: Zero tolerance for criminal aliens
According to federal data, there are at least 2 million criminal aliens now inside the country. We will begin moving them out day one, in joint operations with local, state and federal law enforcement.

Beyond the 2 million, there are a vast number of additional criminal illegal immigrants who have fled or evaded justice. But their days on the run will soon be over. They go out, and they go out fast. …

We are going to triple the number of ICE deportation officers. Within ICE, I am going to create a new special Deportation Task Force, focused on identifying and removing quickly the most dangerous criminal illegal immigrants in America who have evaded justice. …. We’re also going to hire 5,000 more Border Patrol agents, and put more of them on the border, instead of behind desks. We will expand the number of Border Patrol Stations.

Number Four: Block funding for Sanctuary Cities
We will end the Sanctuary Cities that have resulted in so many needless deaths. Cities that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities will not receive taxpayer dollars, and we will work with Congress to pass legislation to protect those jurisdictions that do assist federal authorities.”

E-Verify, which makes it harder for illegals to gain employment, and would help drastically reduce the number of people working with stolen SS numbers, which the link showed yesterday to be 1.1 million identities stolen. #1 thru #4, plus E-Verify and many would self deport, mostly those here working illegally and sending money out of country.

  3. Chas,

    I am blind to those…
“From the least to the greatest,
    all are greedy for gain;
    prophets and priests alike,
    all practice deceit.”
in my own Party. It is easy to see those in the other Party who do this. I have seen this in Democrats for decades. I have to know that it is done by my side, Republicans, too.

I need to “Trust in the Lord and lean not in my own understanding…”

  4. Some call it a flip-flop. I would just say Amnesty Don conned gullible Trumpkins. In the primaries, he said he would deport all illegal aliens. He is not saying that anymore.

The man got thousands to max their credit cards to attend a fake university. He is a first class con artist.

  5. Bob, “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy path.”
    It has worked for me.
I have been blessed much more than I disserve.

As for prophet and priests practicing deceit. I’m not aware. Not anyone in my purview.

  6. There’s plenty here too. Or soon will be.

“NBC’s Matt Lauer, who NBC Universal recently announced would moderate the upcoming Commander-in-Chief Forum with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, was once listed as a “notable member” of the Clinton Global Initiative, the leadership arm of the Clinton Foundation.

The page on the Clinton Foundation website that listed several other prominent journalists as members as well has since been deleted. But Mediaite screencapped the page when it was first reported on back in 2015.”

  7. Here’s an update on the criminal illegal immigrant who killed 2 in a bus crash and injured 40 others.

“Information is dribbling out about Denis Yasmir Amaya Rodriguez, the illegal alien from Honduras who crashed a party bus into a traffic pileup on I-10 in St. John the Baptist Parish on Sunday, killing two people and injuring some 40 others – and none of it is good.”

“Amaya, 37, has pleaded guilty at least four times, in Jefferson Parish alone, to driving without a license and avoided jail time – let alone deportation – by paying nominal fines and court costs. He also had been booked on allegations that he punched his live-in girlfriend and struck that woman’s daughter with a cellphone – charges that later were dismissed.”

He gotta go. After he serves his time for killing those people.

  8. Reading Trump’s immigration plan is a blueprint for a huge expansion of the federal gov’t. I thought conservatives opposed big gov’t. His plans amount to a virtual police state along the border and even internally as he expands the arm of the state. All for a problem that is in decline and is a more of an indicator of economic conditions than anything else. Thus, if you claim illegal immigration is soaring then you admit the economy is booming. And if the economy is miserable than illegal immigration is down. (All indications are it peaked around 2003 went into sharp decline in 2008-9 and then levelled off and stabilized at a slightly higher rate in the 2010s but still lower than 2003)

Mexico isn’t going to pay for the wall. Although Trump said payment wasn’t discussed on his visit, the Mexican president said it was one of the first things he mentioned to Trump. Not only is the wall going to cost billions so is the expansion of the police state to house all illegals until they are deported, and the additional agents, etc If he is a fiscal conservative he will need to raise taxes — but given his track record he’ll just declare bankruptcy.

“Another reform involves new screening tests for all applicants that include an ideological certification to make sure that those we are admitting to our country share our values and love our people.”

Ideological certification?? Will there be courses in correct thinking?? If you fail the first time, can you take a remedial course to reform your thoughts?? How long before this is extended to citizens or other legal residents?

  9. HRW,

It doesn’t require an expansion of the govt. workforce, just a redirection of manpower. As for incarcerating more, it can easily be done starting with the 300,000 already in our prison systems.

    Now this……..

“All for a problem that is in decline and is a more of an indicator of economic conditions than anything else. Thus, if you claim illegal immigration is soaring then you admit the economy is booming.”

A red herring. For the last 3 years there has been a huge influx of illegal immigrants, many are women and children. They ain’t coming for jobs. They’re coming because the door’s open and the benefits are good. It had nothing to do with jobs, it was and continues to be the free pass that is drawing them.

  10. And yeah, Mexico pays for the wall. Just deduct the cost from the aid we send them. If they really want to be rough about it, they can simply crack down on and seize the money they’re illegally Western Unioning south to their homelands. That’s also billions a year. There are many ways to accomplish this without Mexico ever having to send a check.

  11. I don’t think you can redirect gov’t workers without reference to their skill set. I don’t see a typist or an accountant easily being redirected to ICE. They would have to hire based on skills needed and hence an addition and an increase to the size of the gov’t.

The total number of illegal immigrates in the US has hovered around the 11.3 million mark since 2009. Yes, people still cross into the US but people are also leaving the US for a net increase of 0. Specifically, Mexican migration has declined considerably in the last decade — mostly due to a better economy at home. There has not been a huge influx.

Benefits may or may not draw some in — I doubt it. In the push and pull factors of migration, it usually takes a bigger push to leave a community where you have roots. Welfare is not a great pull. And the math is suspicious from either side pro or anti migrant — I call it a wash. And in any case, a wall would be far more expensive than feeding the poor who come over the border. And besides do you really begrudge assisting the poor and needy?

  12. Mexico is not paying. Not happening.

The wall will cost 10-25 billion dollars not including yearly maintenance. I’d go closer to 25 billion because a mass project involving concrete just screams corruption.

Economic aid to Mexico is 350 million a year. Military aid is 75 million. Redirected it will take about 50 years to pay not including interest. Of course, cutting off economic aid will increase migration to the US and the lack of military aid will increase the violence of the Mexican drug cartels thus also increasing migration to the US. Thus you will need more ICE agents and I doubt Mexico will pay for that too.

Now Trump’s other plan is to blackmail the Mexican gov’t. Unless the Mexican gov’t gives a 5-20 billion payment, Trump will rewrite the Patriotic Act to prevent illegals from using wire transfers to send money home. This will deprive Mexico from billions of remittances or so Trump says. An illegal can always find a broker, send it home via UPS, just take it home himself, or pay US college kids a free vacation to carry it across. The money flows back and forth across the country and this type of nonsensical bluster is not the way to treat an other sovereign nation.

  13. As part of the ideological purity test, Trump is proposing that all new immigrants must be pro-perversion. Christian immigrants would be excluded. That is probably for the best. I would hate to expose them or their children to our toxic culture.

  14. For the past 11 years, more Mexican immigrants have gone back home to Mexico than have come into the US.

It is probably a good thing that Trump’s wall is as big a con job as his promise of universal deportation of illegals. Otherwise, a bunch of Mexicans might become trapped in the US.

  15. Yet another way to pay for the wall. Technically it’s not Mexico, but they are Mexican citizens.

“To fund construction of a new U.S. border wall, Donald Trump and senior advisers are considering various ideas, including the use of assets seized from drug cartels and others in the illicit drug trade.

As the debate over who will pay for the wall dominates the discussion on cable news, sources involved in the pre-planning of the GOP nominee’s Mexico trip told LifeZette the Trump camp is looking for innovative ways to pay for the construction of the border wall — ways that both countries can support. Sensitivities in Mexico regarding Trump’s visit, and specifically paying for the border wall, are running high.”

“Advocates of the “make the cartels pay” plan believe it has the added benefit of punishing the “worst of the worst who bring violence to our streets and prey on innocent Mexicans and Americans,” while giving political cover to both leaders to accomplish their objectives. Sources close to both the Mexican government and the Trump campaign have confirmed that this proposal exists, but wish to remain anonymous given the preliminary nature of the discussions.”

  16. Ricky,

National Review seems to like his plan, which surprised me. They call it “sensible and realistic” and “the right priorities.”

“Donald Trump has settled on a hawkish position — and a practical one. Trump’s crowd-pleasing antics aside, in his immigration speech in Phoenix, Ariz., on Wednesday he laid out a sensible, realistic path forward on genuine immigration reform.

Trump’s plan, even in its most primitive iterations, always has been based on the entirely commonsensical principle that America’s immigration policy should serve American interests. Taking this as a starting point, Trump laid out a ten-point policy that emphasizes securing the border, enforcing immigration laws, prioritizing the removal of criminal aliens, and creating the legal and economic disincentives necessary to reduce illegal immigration in the long term.

These are the right priorities. On border security, Trump renewed his commitment to a “physical” wall on the southern border (as well as, alas, his absurd promise that Mexico would pay for it), pledged to swell the ranks of the understaffed Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agencies, and vowed to deploy technology, such as below-ground sensors, to aid them. He also promised an end to the catch-and-release policies that have defined the Obama-era commitment (or lack thereof) to border security and to defund sanctuary cities (an initiative that would, of course, have to come out of Congress). And as Trump noted, about half of America’s illegal-immigrant population overstayed legally gotten visas, meaning that a comprehensive visa-overstay tracking system of the sort he is proposing is also crucial part of any real enforcement agenda.”

  17. Seizing the assets of “suspected” drug dealers? Civil forfeiture laws are nothing more than a legal shakedown. If this is their plan, any radom America might pay for it. Jon Oliver explains (and its Oliver so some language)
