  1. I was talking to a fellow journalist (from England but an enthusiastic & patriotic U.S. convert/immigrant from years ago now) about the election after church yesterday. We’re both long-time, avid political ‘junkies’ but neither of us (he’s a Democrat) are even following this election anymore, it’s all so disheartening.

I told him I just don’t feel like I have a ‘horse in this race’ this time around (although I still think 4 years of Clinton would likely be worse while he’s convinced Trump will mean disaster for his beloved, adopted homeland).

Once a month we dedicate our adult SS hour to prayer using designated topics each time (families, missions, the worldwide church, persecution, etc.); next week’s focus is on praying for the nation which is timely.

  2. A little partisan humor for your Monday

    Abbott & Costello

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America

ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It’s 5.6%

COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?

    ABBOTT: No, that’s 23%.

    COSTELLO: You just said 5.6%.

    ABBOTT: 5.6% Unemployed.

COSTELLO: Right 5.6% out of work.

    ABBOTT: No, that’s 23%.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it’s 23% unemployed.

    ABBOTT: No, that’s 5.6%.

COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE! Is it 5.6% or 23%?

ABBOTT: 5.6% are unemployed. 23% are out of work.

COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, Obama said you can’t count the “Out of Work” as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!

ABBOTT: No, you miss his point.

    COSTELLO: What point?

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn’t look for work can’t be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.

    COSTELLO: To whom?

    ABBOTT: The unemployed.

COSTELLO: But ALL of them are out of work!

ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment roles that would count as less unemployment?

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don’t look for work?

ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That’s how it gets to 5.6%. Otherwise it would be 23%.

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

    ABBOTT: Two ways is correct

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

    ABBOTT: Correct.

COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

    ABBOTT: Bingo.

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to have people stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like a Democrat.

COSTELLO: I don’t even know what I just said!

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like Hillary.

“Huma Abedin, the wife of the former Representative Anthony D. Weiner, announced on Monday that the couple were separating in the wake of a report that Mr. Weiner had been involved in another sexting scandal.”

“On Monday, Ms. Abedin said in a statement: “After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband. Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy.””

“The Post did not identify the woman, but described her as a “self-avowed supporter of Donald Trump and the National Rifle Association who’s used Twitter to bash both President Obama and Clinton.”

Mr. Weiner, asked by The Post for comment, “admitted he and the woman ‘have been friends for some time,’ ” according to the article.

Mr. Weiner could not immediately be reached for comment on Monday morning.”

A Trump supporter and NRA member? I guess Anthony doesn’t discriminate on the basis of political affiliations, as long as you’ll swap pics. He’s a perv.

But I must say, it sounds some what like a set-up that Anthony easily fell for. Perhaps Trump is as willing as Hillary to get down in the dirt.

I also wonder about the role the Clinton campaign played in this. The last thing they need is another sex scandal associated with the Clinton camp, where Huma is the 2nd in command.

  4. An interesting strategy, one rarely used by Republicans. Dems do it all the time. He’s taken his message directly to the people most affected by decades Dem policies. They’re livin’ the nightmare. The question is, will they be receptive to trying a different approach?

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/donald-trump-to-court-black-vote-at-detroit-church/ar-AAicQcx?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=U142DHP

“In an effort to reach out to African-American voters, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will make his first foray into black churches with a visit to the Great Faith Ministries Church in Detroit on Saturday and tape an interview with the church’s Bishop Wayne T. Jackson.

Jackson told his parishoners that the visit was planned and released a statement early Monday morning that the interview with Trump, which will be broadcast on his Impact Television Network, was neither a rally nor an endorsement of Trump’s candidacy.

“Media outlets throughout the country are seeking to get access to the presidential candidates, and we have been afforded that opportunity with Mr. Trump and hopeful that we will get to interview Mrs. Clinton as well,” Jackson said in a statement. “The goal for this interview is to get real answers and Trump’s views and plans on policies that affect our community.”

Jackson said Trump will have an opportunity to outline his policies in front of the congregation during the on-air interview.

“We hope this invitation to both candidates will result in an opportunity to get clarity on some of the issues that have a particular impact on our community,” Jackson said. “The 2016 Presidential election is a determining factor on the direction of our country and we want to make sure we are providing an opportunity for an informed electorate to make the best decision possible.”

Trump’s camapign manager Kellyanne Conway told Fox News Sunday that Trump planned meetings in inner-city churches throughout the rest of the campaign.””

And they’re dreaming if they think Clinton will give this type of open forum with questions interview. She doesn’t allow that type of access to us commoners. If you have a substantial amount to donate to the Clinton Foundation, we may be able to get her to reconsider.

  5. Ugh. I don’t care what two consenting idiot adults do but it is beyond gross that “Carlos Danger” sent out a sext with his child in the bed next to him. I think I will go take a shower now. I feel disgustingly dirty having even read that.
