Prayer Requests 5-17-14

Anyone have a request or praise to share?

Psalm 108

¹O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;

That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.

God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.

10 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

11 Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

  1. Husband and boys are home. They did have a flat tire about forty five minutes from home, but the boys had that changed in next to no time. Glad it was not on their way up there, though I am certain they could have handled it. All are now sleeping and I am off to do chores.

  2. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for the way You work things out. You see difficulties from all angles ans from within. We only see the externals. You know strengths and weaknesses of which we are unaware. In Your perspective small can be big and big can be considered like nothing.

    Thank You for safe travels for folks on or related to this blog community. Bless all who are traveling more during this warmer season. I pray all the encounters they have will be good and give more reason to praise You.

    Thank You for letting me quickly capture Bosley when she got outside. May all our dearly loved animal pets have long and comfortable lifves free from major disease or any type of trauma.

    Lord, I pray for good Sunday School lessons and church worship music and pastor’s sermons tomorrow a. m. I ask that You would move our narion to restoration and revival.

    Thank You for the beauty found in the photographs shared by Peter, Kim and Mumsee for this weekend. Thank You for AJ and his wife who keeps this site fresh each day.

    You are so good. Praise and thanks all day and everyday for Your mercies continue on throughout our days. Please help us to always be available for participation in Your kingdom building in the ways of Your choosing. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  3. Pray for my friend Norma — the older woman (82) whom I drive to church every week (and have known for about 15 years, we met at another church and both transferred to this one later; all in the same denomination; she’s single, a retired school teacher).

    She had an ultrasound on Wednesday after complaining of some pains on the right side of her abdomen. No results yet, but the technician apparently took extra time going over that spot and the friend who drove her to the appointment (a good friend, wife of one of our associate pastors, but she can be too blunt at times) told her it sounded like cancer. Can’t believe she told her that.

    Anyway, Norma’s always had a weak heart, she had a valve replacement 20 some years ago, and has done better than doctors anticipated with that.

    But she’s terribly thin, she’s always been tall and thin, but in the past couple years she’s become almost skeletal and I’m worried that her strength isn’t such that she could battle too much off right now. 😦

  4. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for this day known to many as”the Lord’s day”. Thank You for the opportunity to worship among believers. It is nice at this time and in this land that we sre given the freedom to do so. May we never fail to thank You for that freedom and to pray for those other believers who must worship in secret because of their oppressive government or their family situations with opposition to Christianity that imposes even death to ones outzide of what the other family members believe. Please protect the persecuted throughout this world. Thank You for the strong witness they make as they are willing to die if necessary for their faith in the One true God, for their belief in Jesus.

    Lord, I lift up Donna’s friend and Sister in Christ, Norma. She is facing a time of trial regarding her health. Help her to put full trust in You as she faces the unknown. Help her anxiety to be controlled or even nonexistent because she relies fully upon you. Help her to keep thoughts in perspective as she considers whatever happens is under Your authority. If she feels burdened may she be reminded that Jesus stands ready to take the heavy load from her. Thank You for the strong and caring friendship of Donna who lifts her friend up in prayer. She is loyal as those who found a way to break through the roof to get their friend to Jesus. Please turn this situation into good for all those involved. If a miracle is needed for a watching witness then I ask if it be Your will that You would give a miracle. If Norma is nearing her time appointed by You to meet Jesus face to face then I ask that any physical suffering would be slight and covered up by an abundance of joyful thoughts about the good dwelling and renewal of her presence that will take place as she transitions from one home to another. Please give her friends strength abundand to meet her needs and to be a great encouragement. Thank You, Father God, for the great things You have done and are doing. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  5. Thank you Janice. The sermon today (and the entire service) was very faith-strengthening to her, I believe. (Rom. 8:28 and on how all things, good and ‘bad,’ come to us through God’s hand and thus even suffering, tragedy and illness are ‘good’ in that overarching sense — he ordains all that comes to pass for his glory and for our benefit.)

  6. My cousin Billy, who had throat cancer (I think I mistakenly wrote lung cancer when I mentioned him previously), died Friday afternoon. We’re not sure if Billy was saved, but he did go to church, so there’s a chance he was.

    His twin, Artie, was able to be with him for the last week or so of his life (they’ve lived on opposite coasts for decades). Please pray salvation & comfort for Artie & his brothers, Mike & Tommy, & also for my brother Chuck.

  7. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for the varied ways You have of making Your presence felt in the lives of people. Those of us who are believers have felt Your presence and work in our lives to such an extent that we truthfully say You are undeniably real even though we do not see you in physical form presently. We want others who You placed in our lives as friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and governing authorities to know You as we know You. Please, Abba, don’t You feel the need today for more adopted into the family children to love and glorify You? I lift up those mentioned by Karen O: Artie, Mike, Tommy and Chuck, please let them soon be accepting of Jesus as the Holy Spirit chases and grabs hold of them. Also today I lift up Ellen who needs to be drawn by the Holy Spirit into faith in Jesus. Also, Ginger, Paul, Mary, Leah, Claire 1, Claire 2, David, Mary 2, Jim, Marcia, Joann, Ed, and Donna’s co-workers. The list of the unsaved and potential believers is so long. Please be active in these lives today. I know You desire that all should be saved. Please save these from their unbelief. In Jesus’name, Amen
