Prayer Requests 3-12-13

Who has a request, praise, or update to share?

Psalm 36:5-10

5 Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.

7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

10 O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

  1. Praise that things continue to go so well around here. We have our incidents but with the number of people and the ages and the damage in the past, the incidents are remarkably few and minor.

  2. Having quite a tough time, emotionally. It seems that I keep having to adjust or readjust to situations here at home.

It’s been almost a year & a half that Emily & Forrest have been living with us, & even though most of my frustrations come from one aspect or another of them being here, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So I need to find a balance between making reasonable requests/demands & finding a place of acceptance & contentment. I thought I had found that “place”, but lately I’ve seemed to have lost it.

  3. Karen, you have my prayers.

From my Bible reading in Deuteronomy this morning (33:27a): The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms:

May you feel the strength of His arms in His place of refuge.

  4. Karen, have you and Lee put your expectations in writing so everybody is clear on what is expected with adult children living at home? It might help.

  5. No we haven’t, Mumsee. But that may be a good idea.

Now, dealing with the two-year old is a whole ‘nuther ballgame. 😉

(He really is a sweetheart, & Emily does try to teach him what is appropriate & what is not, but well, he’s two!)

  6. Mumsee: So glad things are currently going well. Keeping “The Nest” in my prayers.

    Karen O: Praying for you.

I’m currently at home with my girls and a couple of girlfriends and their daughters for spring break. My mom is an alcoholic. Last night she was quite intoxicated, so much so that my 13 year old commented about it after my mom went to bed (at the early hour of 7:30pm (she usually starts drinking in earnest by 3:00). Please pray for me that I wouldn’t be so codependent and that a miracle would happen and my mom would deal with her addiction. It is so hard to see someone you love in that state.

Also, please pray for Sandra, who is out here with us with her five year old daughter. Her husband of sixteen years killed himself about a month ago and she is understandably having a hard time. I don’t know her well,as she is a high school friend of my best friend, but I feel for her. Husband hadn’t been working for over a year and had no life insurance, so money is an issue. I don’t think Sandra is a believer and I pray she would be drawn to the great comforter during this incredibly difficult time.

We will return to Houston on Thursday, so I ask you to cover me in prayer until then. When I asked for prayers a few weeks ago regarding Becca’s birthday party, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of peace and was able to enjoy the party (which is unusual for me; I’m usually too nervous to have any fun). So, thank you to all who prayed for me. It brings me great comfort to know others are holding me up in prayer.

  7. Prayers for all here. Mumsee, good to hear that things continue to go well. KarenO, I don’t know that I would be able to be as gracious as you, praying that God will continue to give you grace and understanding and that the adult children will be aware of how they can make the situation better for everyone. Annms, praying for your situations as well.

Reading of these different situations make me so very thankful for my believing family heritage and pray that it will continue on to future generations.
